Last Divinity: The Advent Of Dreams-Chapter 36: Devil Step: Foot of Hell’s Rage
" Sir Khali." He heard somebody call out to him, he turned and saw a warrior standing behind him.
This was the youngest warrior, two years ago he was still a child and couldn’t cultivate.
The young man stood straight facing him, it was obvious he was nervous. " Lucy said to call you, Viona is about to come out of seclusion."
Khali grinned, like him Viona was about to break through to the acolyte/ knight realm, on the same day no less.
The two had the fastest cultivation despite needing much more mana than the others, a testament to the high affinity they had to their elements.
He followed the young man to the fourth layer of the subterranean world. The volcanic layer.
There Viona sat crossed legged on a piece of rock in the center of a lava pool. Fire elemental mana formed a red spiral around her.
This continued for a few more minutes with the spiral getting larger and spinning faster then it was absorbed into her.
She opened her eyes and smiled. Her aura had grown significantly stronger than before. She stood up and stretched her body.
Then she tapped her foot on the ground, all the others saw was a blur and she was standing Infront of him.
The difference in power between rank 1 and two was too large. Of course it highly depended on ones specialty.
Defence types like the draval with extremely heavy bodies were only slightly faster than a rank 1 and relative to some.
However their defence was much greater, speed types would be so fast a rank 1 wouldn’t even be able to react.
Then there were balanced types like the rank 2 fire lizard. They were not too fast, too strong or too durable.
However each of those stats were still greater than those of a rank 1. Even he had to use divine energy to strengthen his legs to outrun it for a short while before losing it.
Viona’s eyes blazed with fire and she grinned at him. Even without saying anything he knew what she wanted.
And he had every intention to entertain her. Viona was a battle maniac, it was natural she would seek a fight the moment she broke through.
He ordered somebody to bring their weapons. She was still using a great sword but it was new one.
Khali forged one with fire gold. A red gold metal of the fire attribute, imbued it with a fire elemental crystal.
The sword was both a melee weapon and stuff, it could enhance her flame abilities. Before the fight started she wanted to tell him about her abilities but he shook his head.
" One day you will have to fight enemies who’s abilities you know nothing about." She nodded agreeing with him.
" Shall we begin?" She asked while taking a fighting stance. They retreated and stood 10 metres away from each other.
He pointed his spear at her, his new spear had a long blade that looked long and wide enough to be a sword.
That was because the spear was retractable, it could turn into a spear or a short sword at will.
A second passed and Lucy rang the bell, they were still in the volcanic layer thus giving her a home advantage when it comes to ambient mana.
They both lunged at each, moving so fast they turned into blurs in the eyes of others. All Lucy and the others could see were sparks when his spear met her sword.
Lucy took out a camera and started recording so they could watch the fight in slow motion later.
Khali on the other hand was admiring Viona’s strength. She was obviously much weaker than he was in terms of pure physical strength.
He was a rank 1 divine which gave him the same physical attributes of a very strong rank 2 warrior.
On top of being an actual rank 2 warrior, a knight, his stats were quite high. Higher than any other knight.
To make things fair he didn’t use any of the basic physical enhancement techniques while she did.
He could feel her fiery mana coursing through her body making her faster and more durable.
She twisted in the air and dropped her burning sword at his head. He took a slight step to the side and gently tapped the tip of her sword. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
His move diverted the force of her attack to the side leaving her wide open for an attack. He sent a kick to her chest.
Then she grinned and grabbed his foot while still mid air, using his own foot to balance herself.
She lunged herself at him and kicked his head, he bent his body backwards dodging the kick.
Then raised the butt of his spear and hit her on the stomach sending her flying 8 metres back.
She knelt on one knee and held her stomach, she was obviously in pain yet she was still grinning.
He felt her mana move on her glabella and knew a spell was coming. A massive amount of mana appeared below his feet.
He jumped to the side to dodge and a pillar of twisting flames appeared when he once stood.
The pillar was much larger and stronger than before, rising to 30 metres into the air and it was over 10 metres wide.
The surrounding temperature rose, almost making even him sweat. Before the pillar could dissipate he was forced to dodge again.
Fire bullets came flying at him like a barrage, each one exploding with the power of a five mana nodes spell.
While not powerful for an attack of an Acolyte, there were a lot of them and their power lied not in destructive might.
Like the bullets she modelled them after, her fire bullets spell focused on speed and penetrative might.
She kicked off the ground and covered over 50 metres in a blink of an eye. Her sword cut through the air towards his neck.
He raised his spear deflecting it then swung the spear from below heading for her stomach.
Unable to use her sword to block, she created a fireball and detonated it between them forcing both of them to retreat.
While the battle looked fair to others, it was quite one sided and she knew it. She was giving it a lot while he hadn’t even used his mana.
" I have to admit, you’re stronger than I am, which means it’s time I take this more seriously." She grinned then closed her eyes.
He took a stance and waited to see the technique she was about to use. " Devil step: Foot of Hell’s Rage."
Flames with a hint of red and black ignited on her feet. Khali’s eyes opened wide with surprise.
’ How is this possible?’ he couldn’t help but wonder. Viona opened her eyes, then she kicked off the ground and disappeared.
