Last Divinity: The Advent Of Dreams-Chapter 56: Brewing Storm
During the past year they had done a lot of things. With new manpower of warriors and mages, things were easier.
It was like having heavy industrial machines with a brain. The dome was extended significantly.
It was large enough to house around three standard cities now.
They had also been working on something else.
While nuclear energy was powerful, it wasn't what he wanted powering his space ships. So he had been working on nuclear fusion instead.
He was close to achieving results, it would probably take about two years at most before he can create a mini star.
In the meantime he made a giant telescope, that took him less than a week to build it. He wanted to see if there are any stars in the sky left.
However no matter which direction he looked he couldn't see anything, it was pure darkness everywhere.
This made his despair, if no stars were left in the universe then no planets that can support life existed.
However he didn't give up, he won't give up until he was certain. Khali understood that there were other possibilities why he couldn't see stars.
They were too far away or perhaps something was standing on his way blocking his view.
Lucy and Isabella suddenly came running at him like excited children. " Look look." They showed him a gun.
Khali took it and inspected it then smiled, " An electromagnetic gun, quite impressive." He commented with a proud smile.
" Pay up." Lucy said with a grin, Isabella took out a 100 gold coins and gave them to her while pouting.
" I told you he would immediately know what it was." They left and went back to their tasks.
Isabella had surprised Khali, her intelligence almost rivalled that of Lucy, her and the other mage she came with.
That guy was more interested in biology and chemistry though so he got along really well with Freya.
He had actually created a biological weapon after just learning microbiology for a year, it was terrifying.
Khali was forced to temporarily stop that project since even he didn't know the cure to the guys poison bomb.
He gave them another project instead, they were to work on tissue reconstruction, this time he didn't just limit them to science.
They can use magic too but it should be something that be used even if a mage is not there to cast a spell.
Giving them the permission to use magic seemed to have granted him wings. He worked with Isabella and Lucy to create something.
A healing pod, the entire structure was covered in runes but the runes only acted as support.
It was in it infancy stages but it was able to heal a minor scratch in seconds, not even leaving a scar.
He saw potential in it. They were progressing rapidly and at this rate, they should be able to leave this world in less than 20 years.
Since they now had so many people, there was no need to stop some projected to work on others.
Sam and his crew worked on the airships, they were modifying them, lining them with khaladrenium.
This made the ships outer layer highly resistant to and capable of reflecting force increasing the ships defences.
However that was not what Khali wanted, he wanted the ships to be modified such that they can withstand space travel.
Of course these were only going to be the first models to see if they can even leave this world.
It was going to be a long project, he still needed to work on creating working forcefields and a hyper engine.
" Sir, the satellite have detected somebody 15 kilometres away from here." He was suddenly disturbed by somebody.
He turned and saw a young man in a military attire standing there saluting. Khali sighed and took a deep breath.
" And why exactly are you telling me? Viona is the chief commander of the army, report to her."
The man twitched, he understood why. Viona hated being disturbed while training and she was always training.
Especially since that muscle brain brother of hers showed up, not only was she happier she wanted to fight everybody everytime.
He had no ideas how many he had to turn her down. " Tell her I sent you." The man still hesitated but still left.
Khali stood up, he was busy but he decided to check it out. Viona got there at the same time as him.
She looked irritated, behind her was her handsome brother Arthur. He looked around and saw him then grinned.
Khali sighed, he knew something was coming, this idiot was about to ask something unreasonable.
" My good friend Khali, we come a long way you and I?"
" No we don't."
" How about this, why don't you let my sister take a long break from her job, she's been working too hard.."
" She barely does anything." He cut him off but Arthur continued like he didn't hear him.
" And I'll take you out for a drink, eh what do you think?" Arthur wrapped his arm around Khali's shoulder.
Khali sighed, this guy was exhausting. " Disregarding the fact that she barely does anything besides train, she's chief military commander.
I can't let her take a break just yet. By the way, I'm done letting you slack off as well, from now on you're taking over her job of training the school kids, you're the gym teacher."
Arthur paused, " I was kidding I was kidding, my sister can still work a few decades, send her to work I fully support you."
He changed his tone but Khali did not change his decision, it has been a year and this guy still did not contribute anything, that was ending.
He ignored him and turned his attention to the screen. There he saw a figure riding a grey skinned lizard.
" Shadow guard." Arthur suddenly whispered drawing everybody's attention to him.
Viona was also frowning like her brother. Arthur explained.
" Shadow guards are what you would consider spies for the royal family, they gather information for the king."
Khali frowned
" We can't let him report what he saw here, take him out."
They shot a missile at him, not a nuclear missile. It shot to the sky and tracked it target using the radio waves from the satellite.
The shadow guard rode as fast as he could, what he had just seen was shocking, that amount of glass alone was more wealth than the entire empire.
Suddenly he looked up, a star was flying towards him breaking through the darkness of the night sky..
He screamed but it was too late, there was an explosion then he was consumed by flames.
Khali and the others relaxed but what they didn't know was that the guard had already sent message.
Infront of the palace of the Red Sun Empire, a ran with metal like fur burrowed out and a guard grabbed it. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
On it back was pouch with a piece of paper which the guard took to the king.
