Leave Me Alone, Big Brothers! [BL]-Chapter 123: The Silence
Antonio sat calmly, enjoying his cigar while his grandson continued venting his emotions on the floor, screaming and cursing. He was used to seeing this.
Only, the one crying in front of him was Alexander, his grandson who was known to be reliable, strong, and heartless. And right now, that man looked so fragile.
Antonio had never seen him like this since Alexander was a child. It was quite a shock to him. All because of a bodyguard.
He saw Alexander begin to calm down, with only sobs remaining.
Alexander stood up unsteadily. Albert tried to help him, but he roughly pushed his hand away. His gaze was fixed on Antonio. It was deep and full of hatred.
He was so angry that his whole body was tense. He was even angrier because the culprit was his own grandfather.
He tried to calm himself down, his face hot from crying. His breathing was short and uncontrolled.
Huan... his poor Huan. He wondered what he felt in his last moments. He, the person who was supposed to protect him, had failed.
Alexander took a step back, staring at the devil in front of him. His tears were still falling, and he let them.
"You want me to marry Athena? I will kill her instead. Don’t ever think you have the right to control my life. This is the last time. I have had enough," said Alexander, his voice hoarse and low, as if he had lost the energy to even speak. His voice sounded tired.
He turned and wiped his tears, his long, wide strides leaving the room.
Meanwhile, Albert finally exhaled a breath he had been holding for who knows how long. He turned to look at Antonio.
"I think you went too far this time, Sir. He could shoot you," said Albert.
Antonio still looked calm, even though his chest was heaving.
"I had no other choice. He will forget Huan with time. I know Alexander. He will become more cruel, which is good for him. He shouldn’t be controlled by his feelings," he said.
Antonio was always confident in his decisions. He knew Alexander and all his business partners, and knew how to control them. At a time like this, he was sure Alexander would be furious and out of control, and would target Athena.
He had warned Athena to be careful and not leave the house until Alexander calmed down.
But it seemed that this time his prediction was wrong.
Alexander did nothing.
Really nothing.
When he arrived home, everyone looked worried. The guards were on alert. But Alexander just walked to his room.
And two days passed. There was no commotion whatsoever.
Only deafening silence.
The mansion was as cold and quiet as a graveyard.
Everyone missed Huan; they knew how Alexander was feeling right now. And they let the man grieve.
Malvin, Roger, Leo, one by one came and tried to check on him, but Alexander often just sat on the sofa or on the balcony, enjoying his drink, and asked them to leave afterward.
Alexander was not the type of person to be devastated by loss, even though this was his greatest loss. But he was silent not because he was weak. It was because he wanted to let go of everything.
Everything related to Antonio. The old man had really crossed the line, and he didn’t want to tolerate it anymore.
His silence, his absence, caused drastic and significant changes that threw the Salazar Group into turmoil. Many things had to be resolved, awaiting Alexander’s final decision.
But the man seemed to have thrown away all his electronic devices. No one could contact him.
The guards were anxious and restless, but they were afraid to approach him. No one ever dared to enter Alexander’s room without his permission, unless they wanted to be shot on the spot. Everyone knew that Alexander always kept his weapons close, even when he was asleep.
"What should we do? I don’t dare disturb him," one of the guards said to Jack.
Jack could only sigh. His phone kept ringing, even with calls from Antonio. But he himself didn’t dare to approach Alexander.
"I don’t fucking know!" Jack was still grieving, and he now seemed stressed by this sudden change.
They had never faced Alexander like this before. The man was fierce and sometimes cruel, but he was never absent and always seemed ready for any situation.
Now they realized how overwhelmed they were.
Meanwhile, problems continued to arise. Steven was quick to replace Alexander at this time to make critical decisions in the field. But for other things, business and office matters, he gave up. Jack also gave up.
"You have to meet him," said Steven when Jack complained that night.
"I’m scared," said Jack, staring at his cell phone, which had been ringing all day. He wanted to cry.
Huan... What is that man doing at a time like this?
"Damn!" Jack cursed.
Jack plucked up the courage to knock on Alexander’s door. The man didn’t let anyone in except his brothers, so he was sure the man wouldn’t let him in.
Even so, he tried anyway.
"Boss? It’s Jack," Jack said after knocking and getting no response from inside.
He was always afraid that Alexander would kill himself inside, left alone, but he remembered that it seemed like the man would rather burn everyone in the world than die by suicide.
At least, that’s what he believed.
Half an hour passed. Jack was tired of waiting.
He knocked again for the last time. If there was no response, he would leave.
Unexpectedly, Alexander told him to come in.
Jack cleared his throat, feeling a little anxious. He was afraid that Alexander would decide to shoot him to vent his emotions. At a time like this, it was okay to think the worst, right?
He stepped inside carefully. Alexander was sitting in front of the TV, watching the current commercials.
It was a very rare sight. The man never watched TV, and now he was actually watching commercials.
His gaze was silent and empty.
"Boss..." Jack called cautiously as he stood next to the sofa.
"What is it?" Alexander asked, his voice low and lazy. It was as if it took extra energy just to open his mouth.
"I’m sorry, but we have a meeting tomorrow. Should I... reschedule, or—"
Jack waited. Alexander was silent.
Jack cleared his throat. "And... I need you to check some documents from Willard. They sent them yesterday. And ask for your feedback."
Alexander sighed, looking at Jack. "Ask Huan."
The words were so light, as if automatic, but the impact was powerful.
The words hung in the air like a death knell.
Jack froze, his heart dropping into his stomach. He saw the exact second reality crashed back into Alexander’s mind. Alexander’s hand, which had been resting on the arm of the chair, began to tremble violently. The muscle in his jaw clenched so hard it looked like it might snap. His eyes looked hollow.
Huan...
Alexander looked down at his hands, his eyes filling with a sudden, fresh wave of agony.
"I forgot he is gone," Alexander said, as if it were a matter of course.
But Jack felt the weight of those words coming out of his master’s mouth.
Alexander grabbed the document from Jack’s hand, glanced at it, and gave it back to Jack. "Ask the old man to see it. Ask everyone to move to his mansion. I won’t care anymore."
Jack swallowed hard. "Boss?"
"If you have nothing more to say, just get out," Alexander said.
Nathan felt the atmosphere was so cold at that moment. He wanted to cry when he heard that Huan had died. But he didn’t understand why Alexander was so sad. He didn’t think his brother had the heart to grieve for his bodyguard.
But then Nael told him that Huan was Alexander’s lover. He was quite surprised because he hadn’t expected that at all. Hearing that, his heart ached even more imagining Alexander losing the person he loved. If he lost Zane, he would definitely be very sad.
His ears were quite sharp at the moment. He heard the servants gossiping that Antonio had killed Huan.
Nathan felt his body tremble. His grandfather killed Huan?
Was that true? Why?
For a moment, Nathan put his ego aside and approached Alexander’s room that night. He knocked on the door.
At that moment, Jack came out.
Seeing him at the door, Jack told Alexander. Otherwise, who knows how long Nathan would have stood there.
Hearing that Nathan was there, Alexander sighed. For the first time, he was reluctant to see the boy. But he tried to act normal.
Nathan entered the room and walked toward Alexander. He stared at the empty plate in front of the man.
It seemed that the man still had an appetite. And several empty bottles filled the table.
"Alex..."
Alexander turned his head and smiled.
Nathan felt that the smile was so bitter that it made him want to cry. He walked closer and sat down next to Alexander.
Alexander was even surprised to see the boy so close without him forcing him. He was even more surprised when the boy suddenly hugged him.
"You must be very sad," said Nathan. He wanted to comfort the man, but ended up crying.
Alexander was silent, because he was too surprised by Nathan’s sudden attitude.
For a moment, he let the boy talk and cry while hugging him. He just smiled slightly.
"You feel bad for me?" asked Alexander.
Nathan sobbed. "Of course!"
Instead of calming down, he sobbed even harder.
"Take a breath," said Alexander, reminding him when his breathing became shallow.
Nathan wiped his tears, embarrassed that he was crying, but he was very sad at that moment. He was also sad imagining Alexander being lonely. He was sad because he couldn’t help in any way.
"Please don’t cry," said Nathan, looking up at Alexander, who was staring intently at him.
Alexander sighed. "I should say that to you."
