Legacy Of The Extra-Chapter 30: Mazekin Dimitri(4)
Chapter 30 - Mazekin Dimitri(4)
"Mana Core Stage: Advanced Apprentice, Elements: Earth and Water. Determined Rank: D-" The examiner—A male wearing the same black and white guild uniform—Spoke up.
The candidate lifted his hand off the crystalline orb on the obsidian pedestal and made his way back towards his seat. His expression was that of satisfaction which I least expected with that result but whatever.
The room which only held me with the three others was filled with people to the brim ready to get their Mana Assessment and Determined Rank from the examinees. That's what I don't understand—how can they determine ranks based solely on the Mana stage?
One by one people made their towards the centre when their names were called. Placing their hands on the orb and get their Mana assessed. And here I was twitching a little over the fact that the orb reveals your element.
'This was not in the game' I groaned inwardly waiting for my name to be called out.
Finishing the exam early did not have any meaning. We were to be assessed in numerical order and for me, it sucked a little. Because I was one of the last applicants who applied yesterday.
"Applicant no. 72, Ezekiel"

"That's my queue,"
Ezekiel who was sitting right beside me stood up from his chair and made his way towards the pedestal.
"Best of luck," Rianna cheered for him.
Collete on the other hand did not say anything and as for me I smiled and gave him a thumbs. Gotta act for now.
As Ezekiel approached the orb and touched it. The orb glowed with fiery red and then turned green—Meaning he had Fire and Wind elements. Good for him.
"Applicant No. 72, Ezekiel. Mana Core Stage: Advanced Apprentice, Elements: Fire and Wind, Determined Rank: D,"
That definitely did not make sense. How are they measuring it? The other guy got a D- but he got a D rank?
What The Fuck?
Ezekiel turned back making his way towards us. His face was etched with a smirk of pride because he was the highest rank here.
'I am going to erase that soon.'
[Don't be overconfident.]
'Shut up'
Shutting Dante off I looked towards Ezekiel whose smirk still remained.
"Good work,"
"Thanks"
"Good one, Ezekiel" Rianna interjected and Collete. Wait is she sleeping?
"Next Applicant No. 73, Riana Von Augustin"
Everyone gasped at the name. Well, it was obvious Riana was noble amongst the commoners, so her rank should be even higher than Ezekiel's.
Let's see.
"Wish me luck," She said and I gave her a small smile to which she averted my gaze. Her face flushed with a red hue around her cheeks.
I am slowly getting used to it now. This Reaction.
As she reached the pedestal she placed her hand over the orb. Upon her touch, it glowed with a higher intensity than Ezekiel's with a warm sea blue colour and then another light blue colour which crackled slightly—Water and Lightning—A good synergy not going to lie.
"Applicant Np. 73, Riana Von Augustin, Mana Core Stage: Low Adept, Elements: Water and Lightning, Determined Rank: C-"
'That jumped up by a lot'
I looked towards Ezekiel, who was stunned but then regained his composure with an excited smile, "As expected of a Noble, they are on a different plane of existence than us."
"Next Applicant No. 74, Collete"
Collete stood up from her seat—her gaze cold and indifferent.
"Best of luck, Collete!" Ezekiel blurted but she ignored him and made her to the pedestal ignoring Riana on the way as well.
I looked towards Ezekiel who had his back hunched due to getting ignored by a girl. A feeling I can't understand well.
As Riana approached us took her seat beside me. Wait, why? Can't she return to her seat, it was already uncomfortable sitting with Ezekiel but now she had to surround me from the other side.
I maintained my calm. 'I am not Noah or Ethan now—I am Dimitri Novikov' I repeated in my head, 'A kind young man hailing from Ashbourne Kingdom.'
"Nice one, Rianna"
"Thank you,"
Then her gaze turned towards me. Her eyes were expectant as if I had to say something to her which I will.
"Good job, Lady Rianna," I praised her politely maintaining my firm smile.
"You can drop the formality, Dimitri," She said fidgeting with her fingers.
'Wow, great acting. She might've won the Oscar for her acting back on Earth'
[Noah not every Nobleman or Noblewoman is a scheming rat]
'Still can't trust them'
Dante sighed exasperated and asked [And what is an Oscar?]
"Applicant No. 74 Collete, Mana Core Stage: High Apprentice, Elements: Wind and Earth, Determined Rank: D,"
The Examiner announced Collete's assessment. She had received the same rank as Ezekiel.
'I will tell you that later. It is my turn now.'
"Next Applicant No. 75, Dimitri Novikov"
The Examiner called out my name. I stood up from the wooden chair and slightly stretched my body.
"Good luck, Dimitri"
"Do your best!"
Both Rianna and Ezekiel cheered me on as I made my way towards the pedestal with measured and controlled steps. On the way, my gaze met with Collete who just nodded slightly and I gave her a small smile in response.
All the other participants looked at me—No, stared at me.
As I reached near the black pedestal, I placed my hand on the crystalline orb before. It slowly started glowing with a white light. It felt as if Mana was being sucked out of my body like a vacuum.
It felt weird.
After some time the orb first glowed with a crackling blue light.
Phew!
It was good that it did not turn amethyst or else I would've been found out as a Blitzfeld. After the crackling blue faded, a dark and desolate mana whirled inside the orb which was my shadow element.
The examiner's face turned pale as soon as she saw the dark hue whirling inside the orb.
"...No way right? He has the shadow element?"
"Isn't that rare?"
I could hear the people gasping and chattering behind me but I paid them no heed because something caught my eye—The orb glowed with a white flame but before the examiner could notice it went out.
It was my third and final element. Which did not belong to Noah but to Ethan.
It was a mystery on its own.
The examiner regained her composure and looked down at her papers.
"A-applicant No. 75, Dimitri Novikov, Mana Core Stage: Mid Adept, Elements: Lightning and Shadow, Determined Rank: C+"
The whole room fell silent on the announcement. I turned around and everyone there just stared at me with wide eyes of shock. Everyone except Ezekiel—let's say he was excited and would definitely pester me about the shadow element later.
Riana was also in a daze—not only was I the highest ranker but also had a rare element. I just hope she won't entangle me in any noble issues. I really don't like committing unnecessary murder.
Collete's face also had a hint of surprise as she eyed me—very intently.
'Another one to kill?'
[Just stop thinking about killing them!]
'I mean she is eyeing me quite intensely. What happens if she attacks me later?'
[She won't. She is just intrigued by your rank]
'I see...'
"Now everyone," The Examiner looked at all of us, "We will now assign you your opponent for the combat practical. So let us head out to the Training Grounds."
