Legend of Dragon Son-in-law-Chapter 2245: The Missing Shadow
The tragic death of the guard once again tightened everyone’s nerves.
Many people instinctively stepped back to avoid the black smoke.
The black smoke remained unchanged, leisurely drifting towards the camp.
"Move quickly, get everyone out of the way." Julius Reed shouted loudly.
Hawthorne hurriedly sprinted to the front of the camp, directing the guards to disperse.
"Immediately evacuate the people inside, no one should linger, move fast!"
A single command turned the entire camp into a hollow shell.
Among those departing were Quella Radcliffe, Terry Moore, and others; they all stepped out.
Seeing Julius Reed, everyone was delighted, but the situation at hand didn’t seem to warrant celebration.
The black smoke drifted slightly, starting to change its direction, scattering towards the crowd.
"Could it be that it’s going to attack people?" Shadow Kims calmly analyzed from the side.
But from the initial changes, if the guard hadn’t rushed to the black smoke, it seemed the smoke didn’t intend to kill him.
Even though it killed him, it was unintentional.
It merely passed through.
Yet now, the black smoke seems to purposefully seek and chase people.
The people in the camp kept dodging, and the black smoke continued to pursue them.
It certainly doesn’t seem to be killing without a purpose.
"Now, listen to me: follow the order and leave the group one by one," Julius Reed said, his face tense, watching the erratic black smoke.
"Start now," he said, as soon as he finished, Quella Radcliffe was the first to leave.
Julius Reed’s heart leapt in the air.
This black smoke doesn’t have a physical form, and judging by the guard’s attack, it can be temporarily determined that it’s difficult to confront the smoke.
It’s extraordinarily troublesome.
If one is targeted by this black smoke, the chances of survival are slim.
Julius Reed’s health is currently poor; if this black smoke is indeed after Quella Radcliffe, he’s worried that he might be powerless.
But fortunately, after Quella Radcliffe left, the black smoke continued to follow the crowd.
Those people left one by one, excluding them step by step.
But suddenly, when Terry Moore stood still, the black smoke halted too.
Gradually, it distanced itself from the crowd and drifted towards Terry Moore.
"Why him?" Shadow Kims frowned, perplexed.
Terry Moore is an exceptionally clear person; his abilities, in today’s martial arts world, are quite insignificant.
He had no enemies.
Regarding martial arts community disputes and secrets, Terry Moore wasn’t involved.
Why did the black smoke find him?
Julius Reed was equally surprised.
Incomprehensible.
"Hold your ground." He took a deep breath and pointed forward.
Fire extended from his fingertips and shot out.
But the black smoke showed no change.
The fire passed through the black smoke, as if facing no obstruction.
This sight left everyone in the martial arts world astonished.
If the black smoke showed no reaction, it implies that it doesn’t exist.
Something non-existent cannot be defeated.
To kill, something must have a body, even Baylor Davenport is made up of tiny particles, merely too small to be seen.
How could something without a physical form possibly kill?
"Check that guard, see if there’s any change," Julius Reed withdrew the flames, stepping down from Hawthorne.
Shadow Kims went ahead cautiously to inspect the deceased guard’s body.
He took significant precautions, knowing the body might be toxic.
But upon inspection, he found no wounds.
The smoke was moving sluggishly; Terry Moore continued circling, with still some time left.
"Inspect it! Thoroughly inspect! A person can’t die for no reason!" Julius Reed spoke deeply, with his only eye locked onto the smoke.
Terry Moore had been with him for a long time, and now faced danger; Julius Reed couldn’t turn a blind eye.
The king’s charm lies in bearing the responsibility that makes those around feel safe.
Terry Moore clearly hadn’t realized the black smoke was after him; trembling, he fished out a phone from his pocket, dialing a series of numbers: "Damn Karen, I might really die this time. A ball of black smoke is following me."
"Terry Moore! Damn Terry Moore, you can’t die! Emperor, what’s going on, help me, save him..."
"Powerless, the Lord’s state right now, even preserving himself is difficult. Cherish the last moment." Ilia Danvers’s voice echoed in the background.
"Terry Moore, hold on, you won’t die so easily! Damn Terry Moore, hang in there!"
"Emperor, I’m begging you, save him, or tell me how to save him!"
Karen was desperate.
Upon receiving the news, she had Terry Moore follow Julius Reed tightly.
Only Julius Reed could achieve saving Terry Moore in today’s world.
If even the Lord couldn’t help, then truly there might be no way.
"I’m fine; everyone dies eventually; I called to tell you to live well."
Terry Moore hung up, staring at the black smoke.
"The organs aren’t damaged, all intact, no poison in the blood, no asphyxiation, no injuries..."
Shadow Kims checked anxiously.
Being with Terry Moore recently, he developed some feelings too.
But no matter how thorough the inspection, the person before him had died without warning.
"Impossible, people can’t die without traces," Julius Reed walked step by step closer to Terry Moore.
"Nothing can be found!" Shadow Kims shouted, "People, lift him up!"
The guards cautiously came over, made complete precautions, and lifted the body.
But still, nothing was found.
"Strange." Shadow Kims wiped the sweat from his forehead, preparing for a detailed inspection.
And Hiddy stepped forward, blocking Julius Reed.
"The world has changed, martial arts have revived, ancient secrets unravel bit by bit." She remained expressionless, looking straight at Julius Reed: "If you die now, it’s irresponsible to many, to me, to Quella Radcliffe, to the Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance, to those wholeheartedly following you."
"You’re the king; you can’t go down there. Remember, no one is irreplaceable, not even you."
"Hiddy." Julius Reed stretched out his hand, held her head, gently kissed her forehead.
"I won’t die. I’m the king; I must bear the king’s responsibility. If I die today, it means I wasn’t capable of protecting you."
"You’re in poor health now." Hiddy sobbed, leaning into his embrace: "I selfishly wish for your safety."
"In the martial arts world, where is safety?"
Julius Reed hugged Hiddy, his face filled with tenderness: "For thousands of years, is there any problem I, Julius Reed, haven’t solved?"
Having spoken, he released his grip, resolutely approaching Terry Moore.
"I don’t care what it is; if I’d rather not see him die, even the King cannot accept him!"
"Lord! This deceased person has no shadow!" Shadow Kims suddenly shouted.
