"Good day, Chief."

Luo An knocked on the door and, upon entering Vireness's office, saw that she was still head down, busy writing documents.

"Sit."

Vireness's tone was as consistent as ever.

After gesturing Luo An to sit, Vireness flipped the document in her hand, crossed her legs, raised her head, and looked at Luo An:

"Augustus told me just now that you caught the scout from the first four bank robberies?"

"That's right."

Luo An smiled and nodded, introduced Chad's identity, and based on all the clues and materials in hand, gave Vireness a brief run-through of the case.

Golden Light Film in California was mismanaged and faced financial troubles, on the verge of bankruptcy.

Henry, the owner of Golden Light Film, has a half-brother, Isaac, an American soldier who had been wreaking havoc in other countries for over a decade and had just returned to America at the beginning of the year. After learning of the crisis, he decided to lend his brother a helping hand.

Of course, it could not be ruled out that Isaac purely wanted to make quick money, and helping his brother was an afterthought.

It so happened that Fletcher registered his script in Hollywood.

Isaac, by some means, got hold of this script through Henry's connections.

After briefly browsing the script and drawing on his own experience for a quick redesign, Isaac immediately flew to New York to find Holki, an old war comrade.

Holki's life had always been poor, so he was quickly persuaded by his former comrade.

However, recalling Holki's homosexual identity, Luo An thought that convincing Holki might not have been so straightforward.

But regardless of how Isaac convinced Holki, after carefully planning for a while, they started their career in New York.

A tattoo spotted by a passerby was also something Holki had drawn on his arm based on the script to mislead the police.

As for who helped Holki with the tattoo, according to the data collected by William and other technicians, Isaac had learned to make tattoos for his comrades while in the military.

"That's the overall rundown of the case."

Luo An looked at the feminine silhouette in front of him and grinned:

"There are two things Task Force Five needs to do next:

One is to find the scouts from the other three bank robberies, and the second is to immediately arrest Holki and Isaac. Augustus has already arranged these two tasks."

Of course, there was still one question in the case that remained unanswered.

That is, the robbers from the fifth and sixth robberies, plus the missing Journalist and Coachman as mentioned by Brandon, what's that all about.

But considering these people were all related to the gangs in that area, Luo An decided to go fishing with Norton sometime later and see if he had any relevant news.

"Very well."

After hearing Luo An's account, Vireness slightly narrowed her eyes and her mouth curved into an approving smile, nodding with satisfaction.

Then without waiting for Luo An to speak, Vireness's expression turned back to normal, she cleared her throat and said indifferently:

"Since the case is cracked, I'll go report this to the superiors next; you don't need to go this time."

Hearing Vireness's words, Luo An still had a smile on his face, without any hint of dissatisfaction.

He was just an ordinary, low-level agent, often seeing team leader Vireness upon permission and with the knowledge of group leader Augustus; they both were from the same foundation.

And Special Agent Supervisor Kobert was the superior of the team leader and Luo An had never heard either Vireness or Augustus mention any direct connection to the Columbus Foundation.

Having Vireness's support was very comforting; Luo An had no intention of switching allegiances just yet.

So, regarding high-level FBI officials like Kobert, Luo An felt it was better to meet less often.

One reason is to reassure Anverine's mind, showing he had no intention of changing jobs, and secondly…

One was a white male with a Mediterranean hairstyle, whom he had only met once and exchanged fewer than ten sentences, unaware of the other's attitude towards him.

The other was a female executive whom he had met many times, communicated a lot, greatly admired him, and who had a curvaceous figure, thoroughly approachable.

Even a fool knew how to choose.

"Good."

Seeing that Luo An did not show any dissatisfaction after hearing her, Vireness's expression didn't change, but inside she was nodding repeatedly, very pleased.

Indeed, she hadn't misjudged him.

Therefore, Vireness didn't waste any more words and went straight to the point:

"I've mentioned before, if this case is successfully resolved within the set time frame, you will be promoted to senior agent.

This matter has already been agreed upon when I took you to meet the Special Agent in Charge last time.

Once this case is completely dealt with, the relevant documents will be officially sent to your Team Five."

"Thank you, chief."

Hearing this, Luo An's face revealed a sunny smile, and after a few seconds' pause, he raised an eyebrow:

"What about you, chief? I remember..."

Vireness had previously mentioned that if this case was cracked, she would have the opportunity to move up a step.

Moving up from team leader was to become the Special Agent in Charge.

This was also another reason Luo An didn't want to have too much contact with Kobert:

If his own strong supporter was to become the new Special Agent in Charge, why bother cozying up to the former one?

Hearing Luo An's question, Vireness was slightly stunned.

After a moment, Vireness's eyes narrowed slightly, a deep look in her eyes as she leaned back, crossed her legs in a new position, and said indifferently:

"As the Special Agent in Charge of the New York Branch of the FBI, Kobert has a long working tenure and excellent performance; the Washington Headquarters has already taken notice of him.

Unless something unexpected happens, nine months from now, he will be promoted to Washington Headquarters along with the director and deputy director of our FBI New York Branch."

"Nine months?"

Luo An's eyes brightened, immediately picking up on the keywords in Vireness's statement.

"That's right."

Vireness showed a satisfied gleam in her eyes at Luo An's quick response.

At this point, the two of them shifted the topic, and Vireness asked about some details of the case before standing up to leave the office.

"Oh, right."

Just as she had half stood up, Vireness suddenly remembered something, sat back down abruptly, and said to Luo An:

"Do you remember I once said that after capturing the robbers of these six banks, the banks would provide a sum of gratitude money?"

"Of course."

Luo An nodded; the reason he worked hard on the case was precisely for this gratitude money.

"However, banks are banks after all; the gratitude money they give out will not be a lot."

Hearing Vireness's words, Luo An's expression remained unchanged; he had been prepared for this.

America is a capitalist country, and banks are the capital of capital; not even the President coming would make them hand out a million-dollar gratitude money like Sabina did.

Sure enough, Vireness continued:

"After taking on this case previously, I've been in contact with these banks, and they all stated that as long as these robbers are caught, the bank is willing to pay $100,000 in gratitude money."

Hearing this, Luo An's eyes lit up; this was much more than his initial estimation.

It may seem a small amount from one bank, but there are many that were robbed!

$100,000 from one bank, six banks would be $600,000!

Of course, this money belongs to everyone in Team Five.

But the share Luo An could get would definitely not be small.

Just as Luo An was quietly calculating how much money he might receive, Vireness pulled out a document from a folder by her side and tossed it into Luo An's lap:

"There's one more thing."
