Legendary FBI Detective-Chapter 826 - 828: Robbery Case and Route
6 PM, Southern Washington D.C., outside a chain supermarket.
Bang!
"Don't eat the sour pickles! Hand over the money!"
Luo An and Mona were carrying groceries for dinner and chatting while walking to their car when the sudden gunshot startled them both.
Pedestrians on the street looked terrified, screaming and scattering in all directions.
Luo An and Mona instinctively drew their guns, checking the direction of the gunshot while shouting to the pedestrians:
"Bend down, quickly move this way!"
Seeing the FBI gold badges displayed by Luo An and Mona, most of the pedestrians immediately followed their directions and ran in the opposite direction.
While directing the pedestrians, Luo An and Mona quickly headed towards the source of the gunshot with their guns.
After running a few steps and turning a corner, they found it was the street at the back entrance of the chain supermarket.
There, a disheveled white youth was frantically fleeing with a knife in panic.
Not far behind him, a white elderly man, wearing a plain jacket, with a big belly, graying hair, and even glasses, was aiming a revolver at the young man, cursing loudly:
"You damned punk! Dare to rob my money? Who gave you the guts!"
Bang!

Mona was astonished at the scene, while Luo An's mouth twitched, but he quickly raised his gun and shouted:
"FBI!"
Seeing Luo An and Mona, the panic on the young white man's face instantly turned to terror. Despite the old white man not far behind still shooting, he resolutely turned around and ran back.
Luo An casually picked up a skateboard left on the ground during the chaos by a fleeing bystander and hurled it at the young white man.
Thud—
A dull sound, and the skateboard hit the young man accurately, causing him to stagger forward and fall, face first to the ground.
At the same time, the old white man also saw Luo An and Mona and heard their shouts. Without hesitation, he raised his hands and shouted:
"It's good you're here; I want to report this, that bastard robbed my money just now!"

Originally thought there was a gun robbery, turns out a robbery did happen, but the one with the gun was the victim.
Soon after, two nearby patrol officers arrived. The elderly white man, whose revolver was confiscated by Luo An, angrily pointed at the handcuffed young man, explaining:
"Today was my pension withdrawal day, planned to buy some daily necessities at the supermarket.
Then this kid jumped out with a knife to rob me, truly overestimating himself…"
The patrol officers were equally speechless, and Luo An looked at the revolver he had collected, casually asking:
"Do you have a permit to carry a gun in a public place?"
Given that Washington D.C. is the federal political center, certain regulations are quite strict, and not all federal citizens can freely carry guns in public.
Mona also turned to look at the elderly white man. Hearing this, the old man suddenly slumped a bit, began knocking on his leg and rubbing his arms, muttering:
"Getting old, my ears aren't what they used to be, and my body isn't as strong either…"
Everyone present rolled their eyes, and Luo An handed the revolver to the patrol officers. This kind of thing doesn't need the FBI's involvement; the police department can handle it.
"Thank you very much, Group Leader Luo An."
The two patrol officers also recognized Luo An. After some brief pleasantries, Luo An and Mona turned and left the scene, walking toward their car.
"What an unlucky fellow."
Remembering the utterly frustrated look on the young man's face just now, Mona chuckled while putting the groceries in the car trunk: 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"That guy had really terrible luck."
Luo An closed the trunk, still chuckling as he walked to the driver's seat:
"Looking at it another way, the old white man actually had pretty good luck."
"True enough."
The two continued chatting as they got into their car, left the area, and headed back to their villa for rest. With over a hundred people dying from gun violence daily in the federation, a street robbery wasn't considered a major case.
After a night's rest, they returned to work the next day. Winslow and Michelle were investigating paper mills across the federation; Mona and Reesi were looking into Jenduo and his close affiliates' relationships while alive; Luo An and Chenier were checking if similar counterfeit bills had appeared in other states within the federation.
Luo An also contacted Deputy Group Leader Paul. Having navigated between the worlds of law and crime, his connections were broad. While issues related to fake currency might not be traceable in the above-ground world, the Underworld always had its unique sources of information and methods.
Sorting through this information is always the most time-consuming task. The members of the special investigation team barely felt like they had been busy for a little while when it was already noon. After ordering lunch on the phone, they continued examining leads without taking a break.
Luo An brewed some coffee and handed it to everyone, casually asking:
"Mona, how's it going on your end?"
"Not great."
Mona frowned and replied:
"Jenduo was extremely cautious. I'm looking into the disposable phones he used and should find some leads."
"Good."
Luo An nodded slightly. He didn't ask much about Winslow and Michelle's progress after handing them coffee; he knew just by observing that they hadn't found anything significant with their phone calls all morning.
Glancing at the time, realizing lunch delivery would take a bit longer, Luo An sat back at his desk to continue his investigation.
Just then, Chenier suddenly clapped his hands and said with a smile:
"Luo An, I've found a lead!"
"What lead?"
Luo An quickly moved his chair over to Chenier. Chenier displayed his computer screen for Luo An, explaining seriously:
"Luo An, your previous judgment was correct, this fake currency has indeed appeared on the market, and it's been circulating for quite a while."
Chenier's computer displayed a map of several states on the Federation East Coast, with some red dots on it. Seeing this, Luo An's eyebrows moved slightly, and he asked:
"These are the locations where the fake currency appeared, right?"
"Exactly."
Chenier nodded emphatically, explaining:
"I contacted state police and FBI divisions, and these red dot locations are areas where the counterfeit money was found.
This counterfeit money doesn't appear often and is nearly indistinguishable to the naked eye, so the police and FBI in these red-dot areas don't have many leads either.
However, once I marked all these locations in red…"
Saying this, Chenier tapped a few keys to zoom in on the map, revealing a line formed by the red dots on the screen.
The southernmost dot was located in Atlanta City, Georgia, in the federation's southeast.
Then the dots traced a line northward, passing through South Carolina—North Carolina—Virginia, and finally reaching Washington, D.C.
"It's clear this is a route."
Chenier crossed his arms, analyzing earnestly:
"The problem is, we don't know who is traveling along this route, nor why they are moving from Atlanta to Washington D.C."
In terms of selling counterfeit money, Atlanta City, known for its high crime rate in the federation and rarely falling out of the top ten in danger, is undoubtedly more suitable than Washington D.C.
Atlanta City is full of talented people, and its convenient transportation is not only an ideal location for goods transit but also perfect for fake currency makers and sellers to distribute their products.
Chenier frowned in thought, unable to comprehend the logic of the route takers. Luo An remained silent for a moment, just about to speak, when not far away, Reesi suddenly exclaimed:
"Luo An, I've discovered something new here!"
