Legendary Librarian System-Chapter 131: Jiang Nong
Jiang Nong had a dream.
After his parents died and as he was soon about to follow them, a beautiful woman appeared and hugged him tightly.
It was warm.
Comforting.
He was glad that someone was able to provide peace before his death.
Then the beautiful woman whispered in his ears.
My child, there’s still life far ahead of you.
As soon as she finished her sentence, Jiang Nong was then taken out from his dream and woke up in the reality, gasping for breath.
He sat up and opened his eyes, but he quickly closed them after being blinded by the dazzling light.
It took some time for him to finally open his eyes and sweep his gaze around.
"W-Where am—"
He failed to finish his sentence as he froze.
He seemed to have appeared in a different world.
It was magical.
He never had proper education, so he never knew what the structure of a library was.
But, one thing was for sure.
"Am I in heaven?"
"No. You’re alive and well."
He was taken aback and quickly turned towards the origin of the voice.
He stared at Liu Wei in shock as he then crawled away in fear.
"W-Who are you?"
Liu Wei gazed at him with a solemn expression as it suddenly softened with a smile on his face.
He said, "I’m the owner of this place. I saved you. This is not heaven, by the way."
Jiang Nong was stunned.
He gulped and pinched his cheeks. When he perceived the pain throbbing, he knew he was indeed alive.
He then recalled the voice which might have led him to this strange heaven-like place and asked, "Was it you who called me?"
Liu Wei raised his eyebrows.
He then replied, "Yeah. You are fated to be in this world. Here, you will be able to learn freely."
Jiang Nong was surprised.
Learning was beyond for farmers to have access to.
He swept his gaze around and when he saw the spiral floating shelves, he finally noticed there were books.
Books! Learning!
It was undeniable that Jiang Nong wanted to learn more about farming.
After all, when he learned about farming from his parents, it was the best moment of his life.
Now, at the age of 13, he already learned everything they could provide, but he still wanted to learn more.
He felt like he was missing something.
It was his everyday dilemma.
Now that a mysterious man offered him the chance to learn, he definitely would not forget about it.
Hence, he quickly stood up and bowed deeply.
"Thank you for the opportunity to learn!"
Liu Wei smiled and said, "Don’t worry about it. Now, can you tell me about yourself and why did you get poisoned?"
Jiang Nong was taken aback and tears began to well up in his eyes.
Unable to hold it, he wept to his heart’s content.
After a while, realizing that he had taken quite some time for Liu Wei, he hurriedly apologized.
Liu Wei gazed at him with a weird expression.
This kid is bizarre.
Nevertheless, he was patient and said, "Don’t worry about it. Take your time if you need to."
Jiang Nong shook his head and said, "I’m fine now. I am Jiang Nong, a son of ordinary farmers. We lived in the Kingdom of Jinwu, where it is known as the Kingdom of Ten Thousand Poison. The King and other nobles are obviously poison practitioners. Just yesterday, a rich poison qi spread around the kingdom.
As farmers, we are the first to be affected. I was just sleeping inside the house, when my parents suddenly broke through the door and were already poisoned."
Jiang Nong then realized he died before he was saved.
Hence, he stared at Liu Wei with tears in his eyes and said, "C-Can you save my parents?"
His voice cracked.
Liu Wei stared at him and not an ounce of pity could be felt.
He pondered.
Even if the VItability Recovery Pill in an Apotheosis Pill form can save his parents, what are the chances for him to choose to remain here and be with them?
Also, the Kingdom is already poisoned, to begin with. He can’t bring his parents here. Hence, they can’t be saved.
Liu Wei shook his head and sighed.
"I can’t save them. Only you are fated to come here. It’s already too late, either."
Jiang Nong was disappointed and lowered his head.
He did not blame that Liu Wei could not save them, as much as he wanted to, and had no choice but to accept the fact that they were already dead.
He continued to weep as Liu Wei said, "May they rest in peace now."
Jiang Nong nodded.
He wept for an hour straight, and Liu Wei was patient enough to wait for him.
After feeling tired and numb, Jiang Nong said, "I know what to do now. I will learn how to get rid of the poison from the kingdom."
Liu Wei frowned.
No, he can’t stray away from his true path.
He said, "That’s not an ordinary brat like you to worry about. Leave it to me. We will return to your kingdom and avenge your parents."
Jiang Nong was stunned.
He gazed at Liu Wei with sparkling eyes and asked, "Really?"
Liu Wei nodded and said, "Yeah. You are better than that, Jiang Nong. Your parents would never wish for you to avenge them. They only want for you to live a peaceful life. That will be rewarding for them."
Jiang Nong was surprised.
He lowered his head and nodded.
He said, "You’re right. My parents always wish the best for me. I understand now..."
"Liu Wei. Big Brother is enough."
Jiang Nong gazed at him and nodded. "Big Brother Liu Wei. Thank you."
Liu Wei smiled.
However, deep inside, he thought, This guy sure is strange.
He said, "You must continue learning farming. Or agriculture entirely."
"Agriculture?"
Liu Wei nodded and said, "Yeah, it is what it’s called. Furthermore, you will be able to learn how to raise livestocks, too."
Liu Wei grinned.
"Are you interested?"
Jiang Nong was taken aback.
He then tilted his head sideways and asked, "What is livestocks?"
Liu Wei chuckled and said, "Let’s go to my farm."
Jiang Nong turned his head around and frowned.
"Where is it?"
Liu Wei smiled and walked past him.
"Follow me."
