Legendary Necromancer: My First Summon is the Undead Dragon-Chapter 38: Church of the Dragon, church of the abyss
Chapter 38: Church of the Dragon, church of the abyss
The Tainted stretched out its hand; it extended and split into several parts, attacking her with crazy speed. Seer didn’t stop; she dodged the attacks one after the other with crazy precision.
She got through that wave and headed for the Tainted, but it wasn’t done yet. It used its second ark to attack with even more speed, this time making pore extensions, forcing her to pause and retreat.
Up on while the Tainted was focused on her, Crypt had charged in from the side. He rushed in at full speed, leaped into the air, spun his spear, and for a moment, Jake could swear that he saw Crypt strike a pose before thrusting his spear.
The spear spun like a drill, the wind gathered around it, and it stabbed right through the chest of the Tainted, tearing a massive hole right through it.
Crypt landed on the ground and watched the Tainted fall, but after a few seconds, it got up on its feet again, and the massive hole started healing up.
Seer didn’t plan to let it, though. She rushed forward now that it couldn’t defend properly. It tried to attack, but its attacks were weak. She dodged them all and went for its leg, cutting it off in one slash.
It came crashing down like a tree. It tried to get up again, but Rion made sand come out of the ground and covered it all the way to its neck, stopping all its movement, and finally, Crypt rushed in and landed a finishing blow by destroying its head.

[Do you wish to use Rise on the Tainted?]
The system sent out a string of messages, but the one that caught Jake’s attention was the last one—he could turn the Tainted into his summon.
But there was the issue of these two not liking it if he did—they might have some use for the body or something.
"Whatever, I can apologize after," Jake thought. He looked at the Tainted and used Rise.
Seer and Rion were shocked to see the magical circle. They thought that the Tainted was about to use one last-ditch attack, but instead, it sank into the ground and came back up with its head bowed.
"Sorry for scaring you, I just turned the Tainted into my summon," Jake said.
"What? In that short time? It didn’t take any serious ritual or time?" Rion asked.
"Is it supposed to?" Jake asked.
"You make no sense, no sense at all," Rion said, swinging his hands in the air. "Necromancy takes time. You have to summon the undead with special rituals, yet you turned someone that just died into your summon that easily," Rion said.
Jake let out an embarrassed laugh. He was happy that they weren’t mad about the fact that he turned it into his summon, though.
"The body of the Tainted would have contaminated this area. We would have had to destroy it. It’s a good thing you turned it into your summon," Seer said. She walked close to Jake. "But the star crystal he had on his neck, did you see it?" she asked.
Jake looked around and saw it lying on the ground. He picked it up, and immediately the system sent a message.
[Do you wish to absorb?]
"No," he quickly said. He didn’t know there was a feature like this, but he knew better than to say yes.
He handed over the crystal to her.
[You should have absorbed it.]
"I can’t, they need it. I already took the Tainted. I don’t want to go too far and cause an issue," Jake said to the system.
He looked at the crystal in her hands, recalling that she spoke of the Church of the Abyss. He decided to ask.
"What is the Church of the Abyss that you spoke of?" he asked.
She paused for a moment, looking at him before she responded. "This world had two main religions, all formed after the coming of the Abyss and the Dark Dragon.
The first is the Believers of the Dragon. They see the Dragon as their god and the god of this world. And they believe that everyone should serve the Dragon or else they will perish in the Abyss or something like that.
But that’s not their biggest teaching. Their biggest teaching is based on a prophecy that one day, someone sent by the Dark Dragon will come and finally free this world from the hold of the Abyss.
Their teachings are bullshit, built on hope and faith in something that will never happen. They are more or less a cult of extremists. The only thing good about them is their hate for the Abyss, but due to that hate, the things they do are extreme and shouldn’t even be allowed, but they cover it with the pretext that it’s the Dragon’s will.
The second cult is the Church of the Abyss, the ones more despicable than even the first. Their aim is to bring the Abyss, as they believe the Abyss is salvation, and until we accept the Abyss, we will never be truly free.
Their actions are bloodshed spread throughout the ages as they push their crazy belief. This crystal is the pendant that each of their believers has," she said and raised the pendant by its string.
"But this one, this one contains energy from the Abyss—something that shouldn’t be." She spoke, her gaze lingered on it for a few seconds as if she was lost in thought, then she suddenly looked up at Jake.
"We will have to cut all our other journeys short and head to Olen after this. We need to give this crystal to the Adventurers Guild," she said.
"It’s that serious, huh?" Jake muttered.
"But before we go, let’s head back to the village. Remember, we have to take care of the little rat that snitched on us," Rion said with an oddly sick smile on his face.
