Chapter 1124: Chapter 1123: Accompanying

Shu Pan saw Ding Manli leave, so she hurried her steps and went home as well.

When she got home, Gu Shaoting was in the study, immersed in his work. She knew this workaholic would definitely be handling work affairs whenever he had the time.

Joy and Xiaobao were enthusiastically putting together Legos in the toy room.

After greeting them, Shu Pan went to the kitchen. Actually, Auntie Li had already prepared the meal, and there wasn’t much for her to help with.

“Madam, you look tired from work. Why don’t you go out and rest?” Auntie Li said, her heart aching at the sight of Shu Pan’s exhausted face.

“It’s okay, I’m fine. But since you’re done, I’m just waiting to eat,” Shu Pan said with a smile.

“You just go call your husband and the kids for dinner,” Auntie Li, who loved the ambiance of this home, remarked, and that was why she had stayed for so long.

“Okay.” Shu Pan headed towards the study.

She knocked on the door a few times before a “Please come in” was heard from inside.

Shu Pan stood at the door, leaning in, “Come out for dinner.”

“You’re back. I’m so bored at home,” Gu Shaoting complained like a child.

Shu Pan was momentarily speechless, “Bored? It seems like you were quite busy in the study.”

Gu Shaoting, teased by her, laughed and defended himself, “It’s only because I’m bored that I’m doing this.”

“Alright, come out for dinner. After we eat, I’ll take you for a walk in the garden. I worry about you getting moldy from staying in all the time,” Shu Pan knew he wouldn’t go out on his own.

“Okay.” Gu Shaoting came over, wrapped his arms around Shu Pan’s waist, and stole a kiss on her cheek.

During dinner, Joy surprisingly started talking about school. Usually, Joy would just eat quietly and seldom spoke; it was usually Xiaobao who did the talking.

“Dad, Mom, our school is having an event on Friday, and you guys need to make some time to attend,” Joy said, eagerly looking forward to the once-a-year big event.

Shu Pan paused, “There are parent-child activities in primary school?”

Joy nodded, “Yes, the school organizes it hoping for more interaction between parents and kids.”

After speaking, Joy, still anxious, asked again, “You guys will come back, right?”

“Of course, this is a big event for our family,” Gu Shaoting immediately agreed.

“That’s great, Dad, remember to be there on time,” Joy cheered happily, thrilled.

If Dad came, she was sure to win first place.

Gu Shaoting and Shu Pan exchanged a glance, realizing just how simple a child’s happiness could be.

Shu Pan served a bowl of soup to Gu Shaoting and said, “Take more care to rest. You aren’t as young as you used to be.”

Gu Shaoting frowned slightly, displeased, “Are you saying I’m old?”

“Are you objecting to that?” Shu Pan looked at him without amusement.

“Just wait and see my prowess,” Gu Shaoting said with a meaningful glance.

Shu Pan knew what he meant, and her face inadvertently turned red.

After dinner, Joy went to do homework, and Xiaobao played.

Shu Pan and Gu Shaoting walked in the garden outside, their fingers interlocked, cherishing this warm gesture which they hadn’t shared in a long while.

Gu Shaoting felt warm inside because he hadn’t properly accompanied Shu Pan in a long time.

His business empire was expanding, but he had been neglecting his wife more and more.

Although Shu Pan hadn’t complained, he knew he had been neglecting his duties as a husband.

“Darling, I’m sorry, I really haven’t spent much time with you,” Gu Shaoting expressed his feelings.

Shu Pan looked at him and smiled, remaining silent.
