Let’s Divorce As Agreed-Chapter 875: Sorry, I’m Already Married
Chapter 875: Sorry, I’m Already Married
Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio
One mistake and that’s it. Only a bottomless abyss awaits those who trip on the journey to fame and success as actors.
“Her past is messy. Now that she’s famous, all her past indiscretions are being dragged into the light; clearing her name won’t be easy.” Shen Weiwei felt that being too ambitious was not necessarily a good thing.
“That’s true.” Although Gu Huanhuan worked in the entertainment industry, she had always been innocent and had not encountered many of its darker aspects — her brother and Sister Gao managed her work so well that she did not have to get mixed up with the industry’s dark underbelly.
“Don’t pity her — she brought this upon herself.” Shen Weiwei did not have a good impression of Susie.
“Forget it. Let’s not talk about Susie’s situation. Let’s go shopping! The new seasonal collection should have arrived.” Gu Huanhuan did not want to meddle in other people’s affairs.
“Yes, you should dress up! It’ll charm the socks of your husband,” Shen Weiwei teased.
“Am I not already pretty as I am?” Gu Huanhuan sniffed haughtily.
The two of them smiled, bursting into laughter as they entered the mall together.
…
While Gu Huanhuan was having the time of her life, Wen Chi was the opposite.
He felt that there was not enough time in a day to complete everything he had to do.
When he finally had time to call his wife, it was already late in the evening. The time difference was an endless source of frustration, and he constantly wrestled with the thought that he might disturb his wife’s valuable rest.
Today would be the first in a long time that he would have the opportunity to return to the hotel earlier than usual. He had planned to call Gu Huanhuan as soon as he was in the comfort of his hotel room when the doorbell rang.
Wen Chi thought it was a bellhop, but when he opened the door, he met Yu Li instead.
Yu Li was in a long dress held up with spaghetti straps. It was a sexy, flirtatious look.
One look was all it took for Wen Chi to see that she had meticulously put on her makeup, further enhancing her visual appeal.
“What’s the matter?” Wen Chi frowned, paying no heed to her coquettish behavior.
“I heard that the steak here is amazing. Shall we go and try it?” Yu Li may have appeared to offer him a casual invitation, but inside, she was nervous and unsure of herself.
“No, I’m a little tired today. Besides, I’ve already ordered dinner.” Wen Chi shook his head in refusal.
“Wen Chi, we’re colleagues. It’s normal for us to go out for a meal, right?” Yu Li felt that Wen Chi was being overly cautious. Even if he was married, it did not mean he could not have female colleagues or friends!
“I’m sorry. I don’t want my wife to get the wrong idea. She may not be around, but it’s best if I don’t do anything that would cause a misunderstanding. That’s the thing about being married, you see.” Wen Chi spoke frankly.
“I’ve been here twice. There are many scenic spots nearby. How about this? We could tour these locations when you’re free,” Wen Chi suggested by way of a compromise.
Yu Li blushed and left awkwardly.
She had thought she still had a chance since they would, inadvertently, spend some time together while studying abroad. Building a relationship takes time. Yu Li had thought their trip overseas for further studies would have been the prime opportunity for them to get to know each other better. Who could have known that news of his marriage to a female celebrity would come just days before they were scheduled to depart? It was a heavy blow to her.
She had not had the chance to confess, and now, that chance had been cruelly taken from her.
Yu Li had never believed Wen Chi to be the superficial type or to wed another based solely on their appearance. No matter how she looked at things, Gu Huanhuan was just another pretty face.
She had finally mustered the courage to ask him for dinner, only to be rejected.
What she feared most, however, was that she stood no chance at all…
Wen Chi shut the door, feeling frustrated. He and Yu Li were colleagues, so he did not want to be too heavy-handed with his words. Yet, he felt the need to be frank about his situation and not to give her false hope.
Even now, he could feel her lingering attention.
He was never one to fool around, particularly when it involved the feelings of another. Now that he was married, it was an even bigger reason to keep himself clean and free from salacious rumors.
Settling his troubled thoughts, he dialed Gu Huanhuan’s number. It rang for a long time before she picked up.
