Level up is hard? I can Directly Purchase infinite Levels!-Chapter 62: Promotion to Commander! Building My Own Team!
Listening to Hegros’s explanation, Raine suddenly understood.
He remembered the temporary rank advancement he had undergone before, when it seemed like he had seen a small star-like light within his energy core. That could perhaps be the nascent form of some kind of law seed, as Hegros described?
And the World Tree sapling and Tricolor Orchid were indeed the rare items Hegros mentioned!
"When you’re on the verge of further advancing, I will do my best to find the top-tier treasures for you to help you plant the first—and most important—Law Seed," Hegros promised solemnly, his mind already working on where to acquire such rare treasures.
"Commander, can multiple Law Seeds be planted?" Raine asked curiously.
Aaron, standing nearby, spoke up, "Law Seeds are closely tied to your future Master-level advancement. The first one is the core!"
"Before reaching Master-level, it’s theoretically possible to plant more seeds with different attributes, as long as they don’t exceed the energy core’s limit."
"But this heavily depends on the foundation you build in the earlier ranks. The stronger the foundation, the greater the potential."
Hegros nodded and added, "The reason the alien races’ prodigies and geniuses are so strong is because they spared no expense in solidifying their foundation early on, expanding the capacity and strength of their bloodcore, in order to plant more and stronger Law Seeds when they reach Expert-level."
"Because, when you advance to Master-level, these Law Seeds will shatter and recombine, merging with your spiritual power, combat techniques, and laws, eventually becoming your unique Godform!"
"Each Godform is a powerful art, possessing immense power."
"So, the more and stronger seeds you plant, the more powerful the Godform you can unleash in the future!"
As Hegros spoke, his aura shifted, and a blood-red glow emanated from him!
Commander Hegros’s body trembled slightly.
A massive figure clad in dark red armor suddenly emerged behind him, enveloping him entirely.
The red giant wielded a colossal sword wreathed in blood-red flames, and blood-red light surged from its eyes.
Simply standing there, it exuded an overwhelming sense of pressure, so suffocating that Raine could hardly breathe.
If Hegros hadn’t kept the power tightly contained within a small area, even a slight leak could have been enough to crush Raine to the ground!
Even with the power suppressed, the sheer intensity of the Godform still shook Raine deeply.
So this... is the Godform of a Grandmaster-level powerhouse?
"This is my Godform. When fully unleashed, it can reach hundreds of meters! As I continue to advance, its power and form will grow even more formidable."
"You’ll understand when you reach this rank in the future."
Hegros dispelled the red giant armor illusion and smiled as he explained.
Raine immediately understood.
Clearly, Hegros had intentionally suppressed the power to demonstrate it to him.
Hegros’s expression became serious again. "The specific guidance on advancement will be handled by Vice-Captain Aaron."
"But remember, the path to advancement is interconnected. It must be approached step by step. Don’t rush for higher ranks. Make sure to solidify your foundation at each stage."
Raine nodded seriously.
"Additionally," Hegros’s tone shifted to one of approval.
"Given your outstanding military achievements, it has been decided after discussion that you will be promoted to the position of Squad Leader within the Seventh Division under the Black Falcon squad. You’ll temporarily be assigned to the Fourth Squad of Black Falcon."
"As for your team members, you can recruit from suitable candidates, or the military department can assign them."
Aaron’s eyes shifted slightly, sensing the deeper meaning behind Hegros’s words.
This was clearly laying the groundwork for Raine’s future promotion to higher command roles, giving him preliminary training and experience.
"Thank you, Commander! I’d like to personally select my squad members," Raine responded without hesitation, already having some ideas in mind.
"Good, then I’ll leave it to you for now, Aaron!" Hegros instructed, then transformed into a red streak of light and left.
Raine turned to Aaron and suddenly asked, "Vice-Captain, are you about to advance to Grandmaster-level soon?"
"I’m almost there, maybe in a few months or a year," Aaron didn’t hide the truth, though he seemed slightly puzzled by the question.
"Why do you ask?"
Raine didn’t respond directly. Instead, he took out over twenty delicate crystal vials from his storage ring and handed them to Aaron.
"These are soul tonics I found in the rings of those alien race geniuses. They’re excellent for assisting the transition from Master-level peak to Grandmaster-level. I won’t need them for now, but perhaps they’ll be useful to you."
Aaron took the vials, and the last trace of doubt in his heart faded.
These looted items were the strongest evidence of Raine’s claims.
These high-level potions were precisely the precious resources that peak Master-level powerhouses prepared to break through the Grandmaster-level barrier.
With so many vials, it could greatly shorten his advancement time, possibly only taking two or three months.
Bruce had carried these as reserves for his own future advancement, but now they had ended up benefiting Raine.
But for Raine right now, it was too early to use them.
However, Aaron pushed the vials back, shaking his head.
"Keep them for now. I don’t need them yet."
"The resources you’ll need for your future advancement will be enormous. Starting to accumulate them now won’t be a mistake. Patrol’s resources are always tight, so we’ll need to find ways to secure more for you."
Hearing this, Raine felt a bit uncomfortable.
Since joining the battlefield, he had known that the Seventh Division, Scarlet Wall Patrol had poor equipment and lacked supplies. Many times, they had to rely on sheer manpower and willpower to push through.
He silently vowed to change this situation!
"Vice-Captain," Raine said seriously, "There are plenty of these things on those alien races’ geniuses. If we really need them, we can take out more."
"Right now, they’re useless to me. But you’re different. If you can use them to advance to Grandmaster-level, not only will that add a top-tier combat strength to Iron Dragon Fortress, improving the defense, but it will also provide better protection for soldiers like us."
"Besides," he added with a meaningful look, "maybe in the future... I won’t need these conventional methods."
He had the system, and the bloodstone pathway was a more direct road.
Hearing the word "protection," Aaron was indeed tempted.
He ultimately decided to take only half of the potions, as they were enough to help him attempt the breakthrough.
But Raine insisted on giving him all of them.
"I’ll go pick my team now!"
Raine refocused on the task of forming his squad.
Becoming a squad leader would allow him to better protect Kyle and the others, which was a small personal goal of his.
"That brat..."
Aaron looked at Raine’s departing back, and for once, a rare smile appeared on his face.
After putting away the potions, Aaron gathered Second Division Captain Tom, senior officer Dennis, veteran general Tetra, and others, announcing the decision to promote Raine to squad leader.
Although the purpose wasn’t explicitly stated, everyone understood the underlying intention.
When Kyle, Gore, and Matthew heard that Raine had become a squad leader, they were all incredibly excited.
Kyle laughed.
"Raine’s probably the fastest person in Seventh Division, Scarlet Wall Patrol to be promoted to squad leader, right?"
"Haha... Yeah, we haven’t even finished our three-month training yet!"
"This just proves Raine has potential! Maybe he’ll become a captain in the future, even a legion commander. That would be our honor!"
Matthew was almost beside himself with excitement, imagining all sorts of possibilities.
Pros, concerned, asked, "Which squad did the Commander assign you to?"
"He said I could pick my own team!" Raine answered.
Pick your own team?
Kyle and the others exchanged glances and immediately understood just how much importance the military placed on Raine!
