Level up is hard? I can Directly Purchase infinite Levels!-Chapter 76: To the Death? Then Come Up and Fight!
Yet from Eugene’s tone, Samwell still sensed something unusual.
"Does Iron Dragon Fortress have a larger operational plan that requires his cooperation?"
"What plan could there be?"
Eugene shook his head. "It’s his own plan."
"His idea is that once the reinforcements in the rear pin down Crimson City’s top experts, he’ll handle the remaining garrison by himself—so Iron Dragon Fortress can preserve its strength to deal with the gargoyle race’s counterattack."
"His attitude is extremely firm. As for where his confidence comes from, even we don’t know."
"But coming to Ironshield Fortress is clearly one step in his plan."
Eugene relayed Raine’s intentions to the two men.
After hearing it, both Marcus and Samwell felt confused—and deeply worried.
Nevertheless, Samwell accepted the mission.
He quickly made arrangements for military affairs and arrived at the Sunfall Gorge outpost at dawn.
The moment his feet touched the ground, his gaze was drawn to the sight on the cliff beside Sunfall Gorge.
Dense rows of troll heads were mounted on wooden stakes, looking exceptionally ferocious in the faint morning light.
The corner of his mouth twitched involuntarily.
"Captain! Why are you here?"
Sean immediately stepped forward and saluted.
"Where is Raine?"
Samwell asked directly.
"He said he was going to wipe out the four troll outposts and set out with his men last night."
Samwell’s expression changed slightly.
The four troll outposts were Sunset Peak, Ironfang Outpost, Stoneclaw Pass, and Stargazer Cliff!
If they pushed as far as Stargazer Cliff, it would inevitably alert the main troll force at Stonehammer Fortress. At that point, escaping would become extremely difficult.
With that in mind, Samwell immediately chased after the direction Raine’s squad had taken.
Sunset Peak and Ironfang Outpost, in fact, had almost no remaining defenders. Raine led his squad straight into Stoneclaw Pass.
This time, they hesitated not at all. With thunderous speed, they slew the Master-rank troll warrior stationed there, then wiped out every troll in the outpost.
After a brief rest, they pressed on without delay toward their final target—Stargazer Cliff!
This outpost was the closest to Stonehammer Fortress and the most critical.
Not only was it guarded by one Master Rank Nine and two Master Rank Seven troll warriors, but over eight thousand troll soldiers were stationed there as well!
Without a doubt, this was a powerful mobile force, capable of reinforcing other outposts or rushing back to defend the main fortress at any moment.
At dawn, after Kyle and the others successfully looped around to the rear of Stargazer Cliff and cut off the enemy’s retreat, Raine struck like a bolt from the blue, swiftly killing all three Master-rank troll warriors!
Leaderless, the eight thousand troll soldiers fell into chaos.
Raine showed no mercy, directly unleashing Thousand Thunders in a sweeping annihilation!
The entire Stargazer Cliff outpost was blasted into pieces, the cliff face collapsing!
Devastating Thunder Light continued to explode in the pre-dawn darkness, like divine punishment descending from the heavens!
At first, the troll powerhouses in Stonehammer Fortress thought it was nothing more than natural thunder.
But after sensing the abnormal Nex fluctuations and the violent tremors, they immediately realized something was wrong and rushed to reinforce Stargazer Cliff.
"Withdraw!"
Raine issued the order decisively.
The squad retreated swiftly from the ruins that Stargazer Cliff had become.
The bloodbath across four frontline outposts completely enraged the troll tribe!
When they redeployed troops to guard those positions again, a second round of harvesting would follow.
That alone would make them pay a devastating price!
Much later—
When more than a dozen troll powerhouses finally arrived, Stargazer Cliff was already a scene of utter devastation.
Eight thousand trolls were dead or dying, the soil soaked through with blood.
Rows upon rows of wooden stakes were nailed full of troll heads.
"Damn human insects!!"
The troll powerhouses ground their teeth in fury at the sight.
Without a moment’s delay, they chased toward Stoneclaw Pass.
What greeted them there was the same sight—rows of heads mounted on stakes...
...
Samwell flew above the clouds outside Stoneclaw Pass and saw the same grim display. His eyelids twitched uncontrollably.
Then his gaze locked onto the hundred-plus-man unit rapidly moving through the forest below.
Raine stood atop a mountain ridge and also spotted Samwell in the clouds.
Feeling the pressure far exceeding that of a Master-rank expert, Raine knew this was a powerhouse from Ironshield Fortress, and his heart settled.
He gave Samwell a slight nod, then led his squad away at top speed.
Boom!
Behind them, the enraged troll powerhouses burst out of the forest, killing intent surging as they prepared to charge toward Sunfall Gorge in retaliation.
But the moment they saw Samwell in the clouds, they came to an abrupt halt.
Bloodshot giant eyes fixed viciously on him.
"Samwell! You dare to torture and slaughter my people!"
"Our race will be at war with yours until one side is exterminated!"
"Hmph!"
Samwell snorted coldly.
The pressure of a Grandmaster descended like a mountain, slamming down and shaking the roaring troll warrior until blood spurted from his mouth.
"This little humiliation is already too much for you?"
Samwell’s voice was icy, carrying hatred etched deep into his bones.
"Then tell me—"
"For the millions, the tens of millions of my human compatriots you’ve devoured as blood food over these past centuries—what about them?!"
"The humans you roasted alive over open flames?!"
"The children who were torn apart by you before they even had the chance to grow up?!"
"If you’ve got the guts, then come up and fight! Why bare your fangs down there?"
A sea of blood and ancient hatred pushed Samwell’s killing intent to its absolute peak.
He raised a hand and pressed down through the air. A gigantic palm formed from condensed Nex slammed viciously toward the group of troll powerhouses!
"Samwell! How dare you!"
A furious roar came from the distance.
Immediately after, a towering figure more than twenty meters tall crossed the void, throwing a single punch!
The violent force shattered the Nex giant palm outright, even causing the surrounding space to ripple.
A troll covered head to toe in profound, arcane runes appeared above the forest, standing like a small mountain.
He was one of Stonehammer Fortress’s troll War Generals—Manebreaker!
Among the troll race, Grandmasters were known as War Generals.
"I’m not interested in fighting you today—but sooner or later, I’ll take your life!"
Samwell snorted coldly and turned into a streak of light, departing.
His top priority was ensuring Raine’s squad withdrew safely. Getting entangled with Manebreaker here would bring no benefit and might even attract more troll War Generals.
Seeing Samwell leave, Manebreaker did not pursue.
"My lord, why didn’t you seize the chance to keep him here?"
A troll warrior growled unwillingly.
Manebreaker did not answer. Instead, he stared at the rows of troll heads, lantern-sized eyes flashing with icy killing intent.
"Was this Samwell’s doing?"
"No!"
The troll warrior said angrily. "It was a human patrol squad!"
"They slaughtered several of our outposts in succession and then escaped! We only encountered Samwell while pursuing them!"
Manebreaker immediately understood—Samwell had come to cover that squad’s retreat.
"Return to Stonehammer Fortress at once. Reassign warriors to guard the four outposts!"
"I’ll go take a look at Sunset Peak!"
With that order, Manebreaker’s massive body surged toward Sunset Peak.
Several troll warriors flew back to Stonehammer Fortress to report, while the rest followed Manebreaker.
