Level Up: Voidwalker-Chapter 353: Just Loving On You
Atlas and the women continued through the desert until Amethyst returned one day. She landed beside them in her Phoenix form as she transformed into her humanoid form and spoke in an excited voice. ''There's a town in the distance, but it's guarded by the empire's soldiers.''
''Can we take them out?'' Grishna asked, readying her weapon.
''Yes, but we need to be careful increase any stronger enemies are nearby,'' he answered the happy Orc woman.
They just came up with approaching the town and attacking the first guards, overwhelming them. Atlas led the girls as the ones who can shift and hide inside his clothes, making the others jealous. Estelle looked at the small wolf Zena hiding in one of his pockets while Noorah was in the other.
Medusa was wrapped around his neck, and Amethyst was hiding in his collar. The blonde giggled at this. ''They look comfortable,'' she said.
Following that, the group continued to close in on the town until Atlas was stopped by several arrows hitting the ground nearby. When realizing where it came from, he sent several spells flying into the wall's direction and slammed into the fortification. Explosions erupted all across it, signalling for the other women to appear. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Amethyst took to the skies with a sweep of her violet wings, her form a radiant silhouette against the darkening horizon. From her vantage point, she wove patterns of purple fire, each burst a blazing shield that consumed the barrage of spells hurled by the Achaemenid mages below.
The enchantments fizzled into nothingness, their energy no match for her searing flames. On the ground, Atlas stood transfixed by her prowess, his breath catching at the sheer power radiating from her. But the battlefield demanded his attention, and his gaze snapped to Noorah and Zena as they underwent a breathtaking transformation.
No longer the small creatures hidden within his clothing, they swelled into formidable versions of themselves. Zena's wolf form grew massive, her fur bristling with primal mana, her eyes glinting with a predator's resolve. Noorah, equally imposing, took on a larger, more fearsome shape.
With two earth-shaking roars, they launched themselves into the heart of the conflict, their sudden expansion sending Achaemenid soldiers scrambling in disarray, their disciplined ranks faltering under the assault. Estelle and Grishna remained steadfast at his side, their presence a force amid the chaos.
As the group pressed forward, attempting to break free from the outskirts, the Achaemenid soldiers rallied, their polished armor glinting in the light as they moved to encircle the party. Estelle's sharp blue eyes darted across the battlefield, her sword a blur as she parried a soldier's curved blade.
Each of the blonde's movements was calculated, her strikes aimed at exploiting gaps in the enemy's formation. Beside her, Grishna stood resolute, her spear kept most enemies away from them thanks to its reach. The air grew thick with dust and the clamor of battle, clashing steel, shouting, and the snarls of Noorah and Zena as they tore through the enemy lines.
The Achaemenid forces, though outnumbered, struggled against the group's advance. Atlas, heart pounding, felt a surge of determination course through him. With Amethyst's protection above, Noorah and Zena's ferocity clearing the path ahead, and Estelle and Grishna's unwavering support at his sides, he knew they stood a fighting chance to break through.
Atlas wanted to escape into the open lands beyond the town to cause chaos across the enemy lands. Just then, Medusa appeared in her massive snake form as she crushed dozens of soldiers before using her tail to destroy several war machines on the town walls. While she did that, Lilith rushed across the battlefield, slaughtering any enemy soldiers she could find.
The Honey Badger woman went mad and used her claws to tear through their armor, sending blood flying everywhere. Nulia, in her Frostbear form, barreled through a shieldwall, allowing the group to slip through as Artemis covered their run. She used her Earth Magic to block the enemy's path.
She then sent boulders flying at the eagle soldiers that appeared high above, but before anyone could realize, Lilith flew into the air after being thrown by Grishna, the Honey Badger smashed into the leader and tore him apart. Blood rained down, covering the enemy below in a wave of red.
Atlas was slicing into the Achaemenid commander's throat, using mana to vault over a shieldwall as the girls followed behind. Grishna smashed through it, her spear cutting men and women in half as Estelle made sure no one snuck on him. Just then, Amethyst flew low so she could send him a message.
'We'll be free within a few minutes,' her voice echoed in his mind.
''Alright,'' he replied.
The group pressed forward through the chaotic battlefield, their footsteps pounding against the earth. Sensing a surge of enemies closing in, he skidded to a halt, spinning sharply on his heel. With a fierce glare, he channeled his mana, his hands glowing with an ominous, pulsating violet light.
Moments later, Atlas unleashed a fully charged Void Blast into the heart of the enemy horde. The air crackled with raw power as a deafening explosion tore through the ranks, a shockwave of dark energy erupting in a brilliant display of destruction. Enemy soldiers were hurled backward, scattered, their cries lost in the thunderous roar.
As the dust settled, Medusa, Noorah, and Zena materialized at his side in a flicker of ethereal light, their expressions resolute. Without missing a beat, the group resumed their sprint, weaving through the chaos. Atlas's sharp eyes caught a glimpse of Artemis, Grisha, and Estelle clinging tightly to Nulia's back.
The massive Frost Bear barreled forward, her powerful strides shaking the ground as she carried her riders to safety. Her icy breath left a trail of frost in the air, a stark contrast to the smoldering ruins around them. They continued running until the enemy stopped following after losing so many soldiers.
Atlas was breathing heavily as they reached some woodlands that the group took shelter in. He collapsed to the ground, catching his breath. Moments later, the girls did the same thing as Grishna laughed. ''That was fun, but lucky they were weaker than us,'' she said.
Everyone agreed while getting some rest. Atlas was looking up at the canopy as Lilith appeared above him, her yellow eyes glinting with love as she started licking his face, making him laugh. ''What are you doing, Lili!'' He exclaimed.
'Just loving on you,' she replied in his mind, without caring about his squirming around.
Lilith pinned him down, nibbling at his ears, neck, and face. The others watched this with amused expressions. Just then, she stopped attacking him and plopped down on his chest before transforming into her human form. The young woman had a big smile crossing her face as she spoke. ''I love doing that to you, and you know this.''
Atlas felt a shiver run down his spine when he saw the glint in her beautiful eyes. Moments later, the sun dipped toward the horizon, casting a warm golden glow over the clearing. Lilith remained on his chest, playful energy softening. She nestled closer, her cheek pressed against his heartbeat, breaths slowing to match the peaceful rhythm.
The others, still chuckling softly, began to disperse, leaving the two in a bubble of shared warmth. Atlas let out a long, steady exhale, his earlier tension melting under the weight of her presence and the serene beauty of the sunset. The sky blazed with shades of amber and rose, painting their faces in soft light.
He reached up, hesitantly at first, then gently tucked a strand of Lilith's hair behind her ear. Her smile widened, but this time it carried a delicate edge, less mischievous and more heartfelt. ''Getting comfortable, are we?'' she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.
Atlas didn't respond with words, only a faint smirk, his fingers lingering near her face as if testing the boundaries of this quiet moment. The air grew cooler, the first stars peeking through the twilight, and for once, neither felt the need to fill the silence. They lay there, wrapped in the fading warmth of the day, the world around them softening into dusk.
Moments later, the others began setting up the camp as Nulia and Grishna stood guard in case the empire soldiers tried to sneak up on them. Amehtyst took to the sky and scouted the surrounding landscape, only to see nothing. Just one long road cutting through the grasslands that would lead to the next city.
By the time Lilithe got up and stretched, the sun had vanished, and a darkness had settled over the land like a blanket. Atlas set up the runes to keep the night monsters away from their campsite. Following that, they started a fire before sitting around it to keep the cold air away.
''Let's get to bed?'' Estelle asked the group. ''We can continue on the road in the morning but we all need some rest after the fighting.''
