Leveling Endlessly with the Strongest System!-Chapter 453 Making Up For His Mistakes!
Roy activated Absolute Defense at the very last second.
The attack literally bounced off him harmlessly.
Seeing what just happened, Damien stumbled back, surprised. The rest were also shocked by how easily Roy dusted the attack away.
"How did you come out of it unharmed?" Damien asked, staring at Roy in disbelief.
Roy smiled grimly.
"The thing I went to obtain in the Ashen Land was a skill that grants me absolute immunity to any kind of damage for an entire minute a day. The effect refreshes at midnight," he explained proudly.
There was a moment of silence as everyone processed this information.
Amelia was the first to break it.
"Good for you, young master," she said with a smile that was barely a smile.
Roy could feel the sarcasm in her tone.
No one else spoke, and Roy could tell that they were all still angry at him for disappearing without warning. He could feel the weight of their disapproval, especially from his lovely maid, the half-elvish twins and his wife.
"You two don't know what trouble you have caused," Damien said in a voice thick with emotion. "After you and Delilah disappeared overnight, we haven't got a proper wink of sleep. We have been tirelessly searching for both of you, trying to find out where you might have gone, but your tracks ended in the nearby wilderness. We were about to end the search today and report it to Count Badulf. But that will no longer be necessary since you've returned."
"I am sorry!" Roy bowed deeply to them, feeling the weight of his guilt settle heavily on his shoulders. "I have troubled you all for selfish reasons. Please forgive me for my immaturity."
Delilah also apologized to the group as she felt she was also at fault. After all, she could have stopped him, but she went with him!
"I don't know about the others, but I accept your apology. I am glad to have you back."
The one to forgive the fastest was naturally the female siren, his fated, his wife. She had missed him endlessly. Every day felt like a year as she hoped to reunite with him. When she finally saw him, she couldn't help but run towards him and embrace him tightly. Her heart was full of joy, and she couldn't contain her emotions.
The twins pouted, their small and lovely faces scrunched up in disappointment. They had even cried, thinking that Roy was eaten by a monster of the warm land's wilderness. They were just young kids who had been through a lot of disturbing things. Roy was the first to show them kindness after they were enslaved, and he had unknowingly become an important person in their hearts.
"Master, you shouldn't do that when there are clearly people who care about your well-being," Maya gently scolded, her eyes softening as she gazed at Roy.
"Give me back my tears!" Aydin pouted, feeling left out.
"I have something better to give you two," Roy said as he pulled out two beautiful stones.
Aydin and Maya looked at the stones with curiosity, their eyes widening in wonder.
"What are these?" they asked.
"They are awakening stones. They can awaken your latent abilities and help you reach greater heights," Roy explained.
"Can we really use them?" Maya asked, her voice tinged with excitement.
"Of course. They are yours now," Roy said with a smile.
The twins' eyes widened with excitement as they took the stones from Roy's hand.
They had always wanted to be stronger, and this was their chance.
"Thank you, Master!" they said in unison, their faces beaming with gratitude.
Roy smiled.
"You're welcome. I hope that this has helped me earn your forgiveness." He was relieved that the twins had forgiven him and were happy again.
"What about me, master?" Amelia asked, looking up at Roy expectantly.
"And me, hubby?" The Female Siren was also curiously looking at him, wondering if he had something for her.
"I don't have gifts for you, but I promise I will take you two with me to the awakening ceremony and help you pass it so that you can awaken," Roy said.
Amelia's eyes lit up. "I'm looking forward to it!"
The Female Siren nodded, "As am I. I have never been to an awakening ceremony before."
Roy nodded. "It's going to be exciting. I have a feeling that this year's ceremony will be one to remember."
The group then made their way back to Damien's mansion.
"Where's Julian?" Roy asked as he didn't see his best friend in the group.
"He pushed himself too hard while searching for you and her and fell ill. Uncle Damien gave him some medicine, and he fell asleep." Aydin said, eyeing the guilty people.
Roy looked at Aydin and then Damien. When did their relationship improve to the point that Damien was fine with Aydin calling him uncle? Even he hadn't revived such honor!
"Where is Uncle Arlo?" Roy asked in a calm voice.
Damien looked at him and replied, "He went out to meet the water celestial."
...
In the meantime, Arlo was seated in the sacred temple of the village, facing a man with an aura of decay. It was the water celestial, and he didn't seem to be in good health. It was unfortunate, but he appeared to be close to death, and Arlo estimated that he wouldn't make it past the year.
The Water Celestial spoke, "15 years. That's how long you've dreamt for. What caused you to wake up from your dream?"
Arlo sighed heavily, his eyes fixed on the old man across from him.
"It was my nephew, Roy. He suddenly came to possess an extraordinary talent for cultivation as if he was blessed by our ancestors, and I dare say his potential is limitless. I couldn't just sit idly by and let him waste away in the County where there was no one to guide him. I had to take action, and I am glad I did."
