Vyra attacked from the other side, and her two swords found weak spots in the corrupted armor. She was quick, accurate, and deadly, but even her expert hits barely made the creature stop.

The corrupted Zork looked at them. There was no recognition or mercy in those purple eyes, only the desire to destroy.

It swung one huge arm in a horizontal arc. Rick dove under it and felt the wind from its passage blow through his hair.

Zara rolled back just in time to avoid being crushed. Vyra used her speed to jump over the arm and land on the creature’s shoulder, where she stabbed it in the neck with both blades.

Black ichor sprayed as the corrupted Zork roared and reached for Vyra. With a powerful motion, it hurled her across the training grounds. She struck the ground with such force that it created a crater.

"VYRA!" Rick yelled.

The creature focused all of its attention on Rick. It opened its mouth, and purple corruption energy started to build up inside.

Rick had seen that kind of attack before. The Corruption Titan had done something like this.

But this would be ten times worse.

Rick turned on Draconic Sovereignty. His body filled with power, and dragon scales appeared on his arms and chest. It wasn’t enough to change him completely, but it did give him the speed he needed to get away.

The corruption beam shot out and melted through solid rock where Rick had been standing just a second before. Even from a few meters away, the heat was catastrophic. If that hit him straight on, there wouldn’t be enough left to bury.

Zara jumped on the creature’s back, her blades cutting through corrupted muscle to find something important. The corrupted Zork spun around to try to get her off. She held on and pushed her blades deeper.

Rick thought for a second that they might really have a chance.

Then the corrupted Zork’s body exploded, releasing a shockwave of corrupting energy.

The shockwave knocked Zara off her feet. She fell through the air, hit the ground hard, and then slid to a stop. She tried to get up, but her legs wouldn’t let her. Rick could see blood pooling under her.

"FUCK MY FUCKING RED FLAGS AND ITS STUPID CONSCIOUSNESS!" Rick ran toward her, but corrupted beings got in his way.

He cut through them with rage and desperation. One hand shoots dragon fire, and the other hand strikes with a sword. His demon eye showed him where they were weak, and he took full advantage of it. But there were too many of them.

Rick could see Carmilla and Natasha fighting back-to-back through the crowd of enemies. They were attempting to reach him.

He noticed Rylah preparing the demon warriors for another assault. He observed that Thera’s barrier magic was beginning to falter under the mounting pressure.

He saw the corrupted Zork lift one huge foot over Zara’s broken body.

"ZARA!" Rick’s scream was real.

He turned on Spirit Unity without even thinking about it. As all four of his bonds came together, golden light burst out of his body.

Carmilla’s strength, Natasha’s clarity, Liora’s divine power, and Sylvia’s dragon power. Everything came rushing through him at once.

He moved faster than he ever had before, leaving a trail of ripped-apart corrupted creatures in his wake. His powerful steps shattered the ground beneath him.

He reached Zara just as the corrupted Zork’s foot began to descend.

Rick managed to get there in time.

His arms ached painfully, and his legs threatened to give out. Yet, he held the enormous foot just inches above Zara’s head, straining against the overwhelming force.

"Get out of here..." Rick gasped and gritted his teeth.

Zara’s eyes were wide open in shock. "Rick... you can’t..."

"GO!"

She rolled out from under him just as Rick’s strength ran out. Rick had to throw himself back to avoid being crushed when the foot came down.

The Corrupted Zork got him before he could get back up.

Rick’s body was engulfed by enormous fingers that squeezed tightly, threatening to break his ribs. He screamed as he felt his bones grinding against one another.

The pain was so intense that his vision faded to white. Through the haze, Rick sensed the corruption attempting to infiltrate him via his demon eye.

It probed at his bonds, searching for a way in. Fortunately, the four bonds held strong together, preventing it from taking root.

But he couldn’t last forever.

The Corrupted Zork raised Rick up to its level. Its mouth opened, and purple energy started to build up for a beam of corruption that was very close.

"How many times do I have to face this fucking situation like the fucking stupid main character I am?!"

"This was it..."

"This is how he died with a lot of hate... fuck...! I wish I could reach higher levels to fight something like this..."

Rick’s mind raced through everything that had led him to this moment. He had died in his gaming chair, forming a brotherly bond with Sebastian.

Carmilla had rescued him from the ruins, while Natasha’s smile had felt cold against the warmth of Liora. He remembered Sylvia’s fierce loyalty and the strength of Zara, alongside Vyra’s gentle nature.

He had cultivated close relationships with all the women he had encountered. He had showered them all with love. All the things he said he would do.

He intended to break all of those promises.

Rick whispered to all of them through the bond network, "I’m sorry."

"I’m really sorry... everyone..."

The Corrupted Zork’s mouth expanded as the corrupt energy reached a critical point.

Suddenly, the sky shattered.

A massive beam of pure golden light descended from above, striking the Corrupted Zork squarely in the center.

Rick fell as the creature released its grip on him, hitting the ground hard enough to knock the wind out of his lungs.

Rick saw two figures coming down from the sky on wings of fire and divine light, but his vision was blurry.

It was Sylvia Flameheart, in all her dragon glory, with scales that shone red and gold and eyes that burned with rage.

And next to her was High Priestess Liora Sunweaver, who was surrounded by holy power that made the corruption back off just by being there.

They landed between Rick and the Corrupted Zork, and the air around them seemed to freeze with their combined power.

Sylvia’s voice echoed across the training grounds, full of the power of ancient dragons. "YOU DARE TO HURT MY CONSOOORRRTTT!!!"

As Liora began to chant, her hands glowed with divine energy, and her voice harmonized with powers that mortals can’t understand. "I will get rid of this corruption by the light of the Seven Heavens!"

Rick fell to the ground, and every breath hurt because his ribs were broken. The demon army around him cheered when they saw more troops coming.

Carmilla and Natasha were running toward him.

The Corrupted Zork roared its challenge, and corruption energy swirled around it like a storm.

Rick could only watch as the real fight was about to start. He was lying broken on the blood-soaked sand.

He was losing blood and growing weaker, causing his vision to blur. Spirit Unity had exhausted all his energy.

His demon eye bombarded him with excessive information, leaving him struggling to comprehend it all.

Through the bond network, he sensed Sylvia’s anger, Liora’s determination, Carmilla’s fear for him, and Natasha’s cold calculation as she began devising a plan.

They had arrived just in time.

The question was whether they would be enough.

Rick’s mind began to fade as the sound of the battle between the dragon, the priestess, and the corrupted king shook the demon camp.
