Limitless The Strongest Revenant-Chapter 1020: So here I am [1/2]
With the Sirens present, the plan was set. Originally, we intended to just cleanse Hannibal of his malice. But the ones who lived here, like Olamide and Zanele, exposed a conspiracy by Onye and some of Hannibal's women.
'Just how big do your balls have to be to even think of cucking a Revenant?'
Basically, Hannibal tried to unify the continent by taking a wife from all 54 countries. He ended up siring 77 sons and who knows how many daughters. This was normal, standard politics you see in fantasy anime and manga.
But the problem began with what happens afterward. While it sounded good on paper, establishing alliances with bloodlines also turned vicious. The question was who succeeds the king once he passed away?
This issue was typical for humans, but I believed Revenants would be exempt from such challenges. Only Amari exposed that the way Africa cleansed its malice was to have the "King" take it all and die.
His successor then takes his name and title to repeat the cycle anew. Just like how a snake sheds its skin to be reborn. That still was acceptable. Heroic even. But then Zanele shared that the top families in the harem used their status to crush the others.
Contrary to what the marriages intended; they divided Africa instead. The royal harem, along with Onye, killed the strongest reapers from rival bloodlines. It ensured that only they would remain in power. This caused Africa to stagnate for over 400 years.
'If they can somehow make sure that the new Immortal is their puppet, the years of stagnation will only continue to get worse.'
Africa, in human terms, was a shithole. While there were rich places, the vast majority of its citizens lived in abject poverty. The main reason is that civilization has had no chance to thrive due to all the wars that have plagued the continent.
Lilly once said that suffering gave rise to stronger Reapers. But then, to create a stronger Reaper, millions of humans were to suffer. And when that one strong Reaper finally arrived, it would be killed by Onye's faction instead.
It was a pointless cycle of torture that had no real benefit other than fattening up those already in power. Any change that must be done had to come from the top. If Onye was dead set on keeping Africa divided, he has to go.
I normally wouldn't give a shit. But if Africa continues to rot, it cannot get stronger. For all its strength in Hellsgate, it has done nothing more than keep the lights on. Maybe it was because I was a Successor but not doing anything feels like the worst decision possible.
In order to have a chance of winning against the Serpent, I had to unify the humans to end this nightmare. And while it would be extremely arrogant of me to think I had to be the one to do so, the tales of the Successors and my own conviction said otherwise.
No one has managed to do what I wanted. That simply meant, if I didn't move to fulfill my own dreams, they would remain just that. Dreams. Saving Africa, if you could even call it that, was a means to an end. For the future of my wives and children. I had to do it.
"I understand, Dearest. Do you wish to call the others, or do you wish to hear our plans with just us?" Lilly asked.
"We will do so in Zanele's hut. I want Amari, Olamide, and Mia there. This concerns them more than it does us. Juno, have Roach and the Vithriss there as well."
"I understand, my lord; I will call them."
The wolves quickly removed the soul cage. A large crowd came near. It was the Amari and his brothers, along with the people from their clans. Somehow, I felt their numbers grew even more.
Amari, Mia, and Olamide came forward. Their eyes seemed resolute. I scanned for Nomvula and didn't see her anywhere. Amari then asked me in hushed tones.
"Limitless, what you said earlier… was that true?"
It made sense that he didn't know, as the last time I saw him was before I learned of the Successors. As the girls and I spoke using our {Kindred} link, no one actually knew what we intended to do. Even those with us: Olamide, Zanele, and her two aides.
"Bring the people you trust into Zanele's hut. The plan we will discuss and act on will shape Africa. It will be bloody. I have told you what I need. And I intend to get it no matter the cost. Are you still certain you wish to involve yourself with me?"
Amari visibly clenched his jaw. I could even hear his teeth grinding. I, who had nothing to do with Africa, had second thoughts. What more about those who actually live here? Mia touched his arm. Even I could see the affection in her gesture. Amari then stared at her for a moment.
He then turned to me and nodded.
"Very well. Let us go," I declared.
An orange {Portal} opened beside me. I sensed the soul in the area and noticed that it was Liv. I turned to her, smiled, and said, "Thank you."
We gave Amari a few minutes. He chose Mia, Olamide, his five brothers, a bunch of elders, Zanele's aides, and one other. Someone I didn't expect.
"Induna Nomvula? Why is she here?" Lilly asked in disbelief.
The Induna bit her lip and looked down. She was arrogant, aggressive, and a pain in the ass. But I knew from fighting her that she was what you would call a patriot. You could see it in her eyes. She loved her home and would die for it if necessary.
As I had no intention of micromanaging Amari, I gestured for Lilly to stop.
"Successor, I do not think we will all fit in my hut," Zanele expressed with a frown.
Juno, Roach, and the Vithriss, along with the Wolves, made our party quite big. Almost forty people. We even had the Awakened, who were all over six feet.
'Lilly, can you give us a place to stay? Somewhere that can serve as a jail if some of them wish to stop us.'
'Oh my! You are surprisingly thorough in some respects, Dearest. How astute. I can. You wish to use Zanele's hut as a fake place to distract the eyes of spies, correct?'
'Yes. Can you do it, Dear?'
'Fufu, if it's a request from my most precious {Kindred}, nothing can stop me. Consider it done,' Lilly replied.
I knew I was being paranoid. But with such high stakes, I had no intention of letting someone else fuck up my mission. If they reacted violently after our explanation, we would lock them up. We would only release them after everything was already done.
'They can just hate me all they want afterwards,' I thought to myself.
"It's fine, Zanele."
Our large party entered Liv's {Portal}, and we ended up outside Zanele's hut. There, another familiar face appeared: Pierre Lemoine. The Mauritian we saved in Kismayo.
"My lord, may I have a moment?" he called out.
I contemplated whether to talk to him. But decided that a few minutes wouldn't hurt. I gestured to the others to enter Zanele's tent. I noticed that Lilly created the entrance to the jail on the door itself. Unless you noticed in coming in, our trap was flawless.
"What do you want, Pierre?" I asked bluntly.
"I have been thinking all this time, my lord. And I believe you are right. My family died all because I refused to take accountability. I have no one to blame but myself."
