Lingering Passion: Mr. Sutton Wants to be Your Male Lead!-Chapter 164: You Lack Experience, You Don’t Understand
Hearing Forrest Keller’s voice, Stella Grant was taken aback for a few seconds.
Stella Grant didn’t want people at the company to know about her affairs with Silas Sutton, but she’s not a fool. She knew that if Forrest was answering the call at this moment, then he probably knew everything.
Stella took a deep breath. She knew the meeting was just a pretense, but didn’t expose it, "Have him call me after the meeting."
Forrest replied, "Okay, I’ll let President Sutton know once the meeting is over."
After Forrest spoke, Stella said "Thanks" and hung up the phone.
Once Stella disconnected, Forrest respectfully placed the phone on his desk, looked at Silas Sutton, who was rubbing his temples in the boss chair, and cautiously said, "President Sutton, the call’s done."
Silas lifted his head at the sound, "What did she say?"
Forrest repeated verbatim, "’Have him call me after the meeting,’ were Manager Grant’s exact words."
Silas zeroed in on the detail, "She said ’him’?"
Forrest said, "Yes, it’s ’him’, not ’President Sutton’."
Silas scoffed lightly, scratching his temple with his fingertips, "A woman being too smart isn’t always a good thing."
How smart Stella is remains uncertain, but Forrest is learning to be wise now, refusing to answer any unwelcome questions.
But life’s like that sometimes; the more you fear something, the more likely it will happen.
Forrest managed to keep his mouth shut but couldn’t prevent Silas from playing out of line.
After speaking, Silas raised his eyes to Forrest, "Don’t you have anything you’re curious about today?"
Forrest awkwardly smiled, "Not questioning the boss’s privacy is a basic quality of an assistant."
Forrest’s inner voice: No, I don’t want to ask, and please don’t say.
Silas teased, "It’s okay, I allow you to ask today."
Forrest’s smile was strained, "This... shouldn’t be, right?"
Forrest’s inner voice: Please, just let me off the hook.
Seeing Forrest’s trepidation, Silas’s lips curled slightly, his eyes laughing as he asked, "Forrest, what are you afraid of?"
Forrest said, "Heh heh, nothing, I’m not afraid of anything."
Having said that, to prove he wasn’t afraid, Forrest muttered on, "What do I have to be afraid of? You’re not afraid of what you’re doing, so why should I be afraid?"
Forrest realized what he had just said, turned beet-red, and pinched his thigh hard with the hand hanging by his side.
Silas looked at him with a playful expression, "What have I done?"
Forrest forced a smile, "Nothing, you haven’t done anything, you’re always upright and proper."
Silas asked, "Forrest, how long have you been with me?"
Forrest answered, "Six, six years."
Silas tapped his slender fingers on the armrest of the boss chair, "Six years, not too long, not too short."
Silas’s expression remained bland, while Forrest’s forehead broke out in a cold sweat.
He’s been an assistant for years, understanding too well the executives’ rhetoric; whenever this topic comes up, the conversation’s target usually doesn’t fare well.
Sure enough, the next second Silas trapped him, "Do you think I stole Ray Woods’s thunder?"
Forrest said, "No."
Silas instructed, "Be honest."
Forrest gritted his teeth, "Yes."
Silas chuckled lightly, the tapping on the armrest ceasing, "Stella and Ray were never a couple; they were just acting."
Forrest was astonished, "Ah?"
Silas raised a finger to his lips and smiled deeply, with a hint of mysterious brazenness, "Feelings are something you’re not experienced with. You wouldn’t understand."
Forrest remained silent.
Silas continued, "When I’ve gathered some experience, I’ll teach you."
Forrest forced a smile, though he didn’t want to engage, he had to, "Thank you, President Sutton."
The moment Forrest finished his ’thank you’, the office door burst open from the outside.
Both looked out to see Stella standing at the doorway with a document, her expression indifferent, "President Sutton, I need you to sign a contract."
Forrest’s breath caught: such intense intimidation.
Reflecting inwardly, Forrest turned to look at Silas. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Silas just slightly raised an eyebrow, his deep eyes filled with amusement, speaking in a low, deep voice, "Forrest, you can leave now."
