Lingering Passion: Mr. Sutton Wants to be Your Male Lead!-Chapter 210: He Wants Status Through a Child
In the hospital room, silence spoke louder than words.
Lynn awkwardly accepted the apple from Silas, but before she could eat it, she saw Ms. Dunn pushing the door open. She quickly said, "Ms. Dunn, could you push me outside for some fresh air?"
Ms. Dunn looked bewildered, "Huh?"
Lynn replied, "I’ve been in the room for quite a while, I want to get some fresh air."
Ms. Dunn, ever diligent, said, "Okay, I’ll go get the wheelchair."
With that, Ms. Dunn walked to the corner of the room, pushed the wheelchair to the bedside, helped Lynn onto it, and after greeting Stella and Silas, left the hospital room.
Once Lynn and Ms. Dunn left, only Stella and Silas remained in the room.
Stella’s hand tightened on the windowsill, while Silas continued peeling the apple.
After he finished peeling, Silas walked over to Stella, handed her the apple, and chuckled softly, "Stella, why are you so heartless, huh?"
Stella looked up at him and frowned, asking, "Why do you say anything that comes to mind? Aren’t you embarrassed?"
Silas teased, "More embarrassing than my girlfriend leaving me with another woman?"
Stella replied, "..."
Silas leaned in closer, stopping just an inch from her, "Stella, what if in six months, your mom gets too fond of me as her son-in-law and won’t let you break up with me?"
Silas smiled confidently, while Stella forced herself to stay calm, "She won’t."
Silas chuckled, "Do you want to make a bet?"
Stella’s palm began to sweat slightly, "What bet?"
Silas said, "If your mom won’t let you break up with me, you have to do as she says."
Stella replied, "..."
Silas was not only good at setting traps but also at weaving webs.
Stella looked at him silently, while Silas leaned down and kissed her, tracing the line of her lips, "If pleasing the mother-in-law doesn’t work, can I rely on my future children?"
Stella’s ears turned red as she instinctively tried to retreat.
Noticing her intention, Silas hooked an arm around her waist, pulling her close, his voice deep, "I’m suddenly jealous of Flynn. When he showed up, you weren’t this wary."
Meanwhile, Ms. Dunn pushed Lynn down the corridor.
Ms. Dunn asked Lynn with a smile, "Are you just giving them some space?"
Lynn smiled at Ms. Dunn, "They’re just dating, not married yet."
Ms. Dunn replied seriously, "I have a keen eye for this; Miss Grant and President Sutton look like they belong together."
Though Lynn didn’t quite believe in such things, every mother hopes for a good partner for her daughter, so she asked with a smile, "Really?"
Ms. Dunn said, "Really."
Ms. Dunn’s inner thoughts: There are some things I can’t say.
With Lynn’s marriage to Kenneth over and her health stable, Stella mentioned to her at night that she was returning to Veridia. "There’s a bunch of work waiting for me back at the office. I’ll come back when it’s time for your surgery."
Though Lynn was reluctant, she didn’t show it, saying, "Yes, with Ms. Dunn taking care of me, you don’t have to worry."
Stella sat on the bed and hugged Lynn, "Mom, when you’re done with surgery, I’ll bring you to Veridia."
Lynn hugged Stella back, "Alright."
Stella sighed, "Mom, let’s sell the house when you’re better."
She had little attachment to Brynnfield.
Lynn understood her thoughts, gently touching her hair, "Alright, let’s sell the house then, so your uncle won’t keep thinking about it all day."
Stella immediately regretted saying it, worried Lynn would not want to, "Mom, will you feel sad?"
Lynn smiled fondly, "It’s not sad. For me, wherever you are, that’s my home."
Stella was moved to tears by Lynn’s words, hugging her tightly.
Outside the hospital, Stella stood on the steps and looked up at the night sky.
For years she had been too busy with debt to enjoy such a view.
Silas stood behind her, hands in his pockets, saying, "If you can’t leave your mom, why not stay a couple more days?"
Stella kept her back to Silas, didn’t turn around, and said rationally, "Staying two more days or leaving tomorrow doesn’t make a difference."
Silas said, "In just a month, your mom will join you in Veridia."
Stella’s lips curved upwards at his words, "Mm."
A few minutes later, they got into the car.
On the way home, Silas held Stella’s hand tightly, half-laughing as he asked, "Once we’re back in Veridia, you’re not going to pretend not to know me, are you?"
