The strong army of guards constantly patroling around to ensure his safety made Charlotte misunderstand that Roel was a weak academic.

In truth, there was no way someone who was contracted with Grandar could be weak. Roel had grown greatly over the last two years under Grandar’s tutelage. He was no longer the same person he used to be.

Aside from the fact that he had reached the pinnacle of Origin Level 5, just his Crown Origin Attribute made him stronger than his fellow peers. His mana was more condensed, and he was able to channel it faster than others. On top of that, the Crown Origin Attribute also had its unique trait too.

【Reclamation of Glory

A warrior from ancient times has returned. A power that has vanished, after passing down from hand to hand, finally returns to its homeland.】

The System’s description was useless, as usual, but anyway, the Crown Origin Attribute allowed him to tap into the power of the ancient being he had contracted with to a certain degree. That meant that he could utilize Grandar’s Strength Origin Attribute and some of his undead reanimation spells.

Overwhelming raw strength was actually extremely terrifying in battle. When complemented by Roel’s spells, it turned him into a nightmare for his enemies. The creature, by the standards of human transcendents power level, was at least at Origin Level 5, but Roel was able to crush its head with just a single strike.

“I’m able to protect myself, and as your fiancé and the one who opened up the path to this fragment of history, I’m obliged to protect you too.”

“B-but…”

“My apologies, but I don’t intend to open up this matter to discussion… Furthermore, it isn’t a good time for discussion either. These creatures appear to be Scalemen from the Scale Tribe. This ship has been attacked by the Seafolk, and it doesn’t look like things are going well for them at the moment.”

Roel raised his hand and halted Charlotte’s words. He glanced up to look through the hole on the deck, where silhouettes could be seen swiftly flitting by, and he gained a rough idea about the current circumstances they were in.

Logically speaking, their more likely allies here should be the humans, and the invading Seafolk was their enemies. Unfortunately, of the seven or so humanoid figures rushing past the hole peering onto the deck, he noticed that only two of them were humans. Also, very few of the comprehensible shouts sounded human. Piecing all of this evidence together…

Crap, we’re going to lose!

At this thought flashed across his mind, Roel felt his heart sinking into the depth of the abyss. They were in the middle of the sea right now—even a fool could tell that the Seafolk would have the advantage here! If this ship were to collapse, both he and Charlotte would be done for!

“Quick! Before the humans here die out, we must protect this ship!”

Roel shouted at Charlotte before rushing through the hole and onto the deck, where the battle was still ongoing. Charlotte had also realized the precariousness of the situation by now, and she quickly did the same. As they were climbed out of the hold, the light before them expanded larger and larger till, at last, they found themselves standing before an expansive view of the sea, as well as the full reveal of the battlefield.

The sight of the scene brought a jolt to both of their hearts, stiffening their bodies and slackening their jaws.

The ship was cruising through incredibly choppy waters. Huge waves were rising and crashing down one after another, and countless sea creatures with chilling yellow eyes were rising out of the waters to invade a fleet of ships. The men and women on the ships were desperately brandishing their swords to cut down the creatures with furious roars.

There was a gigantic monster partially concealed within the waters wrapping its tentacles, which were as huge as towers, around the ships. A blood-curdling cry could be heard from the depths beneath the waves.

However, those ships weren’t going down without a fight either. Powerful pulsations of mana rippled as the transcendents onboard gathered their power and shot concentrated beams into the brine, raising huge waves in their wake.

Be it the furious roars of the humans, the cries of the sea creatures, the explosions of cannons, or the shrieks of the underwater monstrosity, this overload of sensory information overwhelmed the heads of the duo, leaving them momentarily stunned.

Roel quickly snapped out of his shocked state to reassess their current circumstances. At the same time, Charlotte’s voice sounded.

“Be careful!”

Following her sharp warning, two sea creatures covered in scales began charging their way. In Roel’s narrowed eyes, the Calamity of Bloodshed had activated, labeling their names in dark red.

【Soldier of the Scale Tribe #%@*】

【Soldier of the Scale Tribe *&%#】

The dark red names were a clear indication that they were enemies. This time around, however, it was Charlotte who made a move.

“Jewel Trigger!”

The auburn-haired girl gently stroked the exquisite ring on her finger, and the ring began expanding and transforming amidst a brilliant radiance, turning into a delicate gun-like magic tool. It seemed more like a phantasmagoric artwork made out of expensive, beautiful ores than a gun, and it was slotted with colorful gemstones instead of bullets.

It glistened with shimmering light, which, unbeknownst to outsiders, was actually the blessing of the Death God.

Jewel Trigger.

This was a legendary magic tool passed down through the Sorofyas’ lineage. Similar to the Theocracy’s Twelve Wings, Jewel Trigger was one of the greatest creations to come out of the ancient era. Famed to be a relic of the high elves, it was capable of shooting out any kind of magic.

“Ruby Slot!”

Charlotte raised her magic tool upward. Without even bothering to aim, she nonchalantly pulled the trigger, producing a euphonic trill.

Krng!

The ruby immediately dissipated into a burst of light that pierced right through the crimson hearts of the two enemies before them.

“Uwok uwok!”

“Gah!

The two sea creatures were still on a defensive stance when their bodies were struck. A desperate cry escaped from their mouths as they clutched their own chests. Blood spurted out from their mouths, and they collapsed to the deck. Their brilliant yellow irises gradually dimmed into darkness. Till death, they couldn’t understand what happened to them.

“Indeed, these sea creatures have low immunity toward Curse Magic!”

Having discovered the Scale Tribe’s weakness, Charlotte’s morale rose a little. At the same time, Roel noticed that there were some changes in the values in the System.

【Evaluation: 7 (Low)】

“!”

It’s actually possible to raise my evaluation by killing these creatures? On top of that, Charlotte’s kills count too?

Roel slowly turned his attention back to the battlefield, but this time around, his eyes were filled with zeal. If he had thought of these Scalemen as a threat to his life earlier, right now, they looked more like moving experience packs to him now.

You bunch of dumb saltwater fishes, die for my bloodline awakening! Gahahaha! I’ll knock your gills out of your faces!

Crimson mana began pouring out of Roel’s body as he scanned the area intently. Soon, he found the center of the battlefield, where a group of humans were struggling against over a hundred Scalemen. The defense line built up by the humans was on the verge of collapsing at any moment.

“Charlotte, I’ll be heading over to that side. You should find a place to hide…”

“Mister Roel, please do not misunderstand. I’m not your baggage but your fiancée.”

Charlotte narrowed her emerald eyes in discontentment as she took a step forward. She fiddled with the beautiful gun in her hand as she spoke with a voice filled with determination.

“Leave your back to me.”
