Chapter 12

(Did he slit his wrist to commit suicide in the past?)

Three more minutes passed. The broadcast sounded: “The death penalty has ended, a period of rest will commence next. All remaining players have three days to rest this time around, and the resting area is this villa. The fridge is stocked with ingredients, the miscellaneous room has a first aid box. Everyone can use them freely. Three days later, let us meet again in another scenario!”

Having reached this stage, the game was brought to a temporary close. The NPC Maid Liu departed soon after that.

After leaving the centralised discussion room, Gu Liang headed for the miscellaneous room first. And just as the system had stated, there was a first aid box stored inside.

The medicine and tools inside the first aid box was very comprehensive. Hence, Gu Liang brought the first aid box into the living room and applied the medicine to Yang Ye’s wound before wrapping it properly with bandages.

Once he was done, Gu Liang asked Yang Ye: “Are you hungry?”

Yang Ye looked at him, asking, “Are you making food for me?”

“I’m making some for myself, I can make a portion for you while I’m at it.” Gu Liang started moving towards the kitchen. “But I can’t really cook, it’ll just be noodles.”

“It’s fine. Noodles will do.” Yang Ye replied.

“Sure. Go and ask Brother Bai if he wants to eat some. Also, double check with him on whether the ingredients were affected by the feigned death medicine.”

When Gu Liang was done saying those words, he had already disappeared into the kitchen.

Yang Ye obliged and went to the second floor.

Three minutes later, he returned downstairs and walked to the kitchen entrance to tell Gu Liang: “Brother Bai has no appetite, he doesn’t want to eat. There are no issues with the ingredients in the fridge. As for the pots, pans, cutlery, and bowls, we’ll be fine once we wash them thoroughly. I’ll help you out…”

“No need. You’re injured, just rest.” Gu Liang lowered his head and busied himself.

Actually, all Gu Liang was doing was stacking the bowls and bringing them to the basin for washing.

But in Yang Ye’s eyes, it unknowingly made him think of a sentence— Most of all is that head-bowed gentleness.

His appearance was that of a nobleman who stayed away from the kitchen, pure and cold, and yet he was actually making food for him?

Gu Liang had, wholly and completely, become Yang Ye’s aesthetic.

With the looking glass serving as a filter, it seemed like no matter what Gu Liang did, Yang Ye could regard him with an admiring light.

“Then I’ll wait for the noodles.” Yang Ye smiled as he gazed at Gu Liang’s figure. He left the kitchen and sat down at the dining table.

After a short while, Gu Liang carried two bowls of noodles out.

What Yang Ye did not expect was that, when Gu Liang said he would cook two bowls of noodles, he would only cook noodles alone.

Watery and tasteless noodles. Let alone meat, there was not even a single vegetable leaf in sight.

He could disregard the lack of vegetables. But it was obvious that Gu Liang barely put any salt in the noodles after he tasted it.

Yang Ye swallowed a mouthful of noodles with much difficulty. As he looked at Gu Liang, he deliberated on how he should put this. “This bowl of noodles… isn’t it too light?”

Raising his eyelids, Gu Liang stared back at him and said: “I already said that I can’t really cook.”

Yang Ye: “I thought you were saying courtesy words to me.”

Gu Liang: “……”

“Salt, light soy sauce… all these seasonings, Brother Bai had already mentioned that they were not affected. You can use them.”

Yang Ye continued to stare at him. “Usually when you’re by yourself… is this what you prepare for yourself?”

“I just casually make something when I’m alone. Or else, I’ll call for take outs.” Gu Liang said.

But you don’t need to be casual to this extent, right?

However, Yang Ye seemed to grasp something as he questioned: “No girlfriend?”

“No,” retorted Gu Liang.

“Where did your scarf come from then?” Yang Ye asked.

Gu Liang looked at him quietly, not replying.

That made Yang Ye chuckle. “It’s your own scarf? You use pink ones?”

Gu Liang lifted his hand and took away the bowl of noodles in front him. “Are you eating it or not, if you’re not going to eat it, I’m pouring it away.”

“Eating.” Yang Ye snatched back his bowl. Subsequently after, he stood up and took the bowl of noodles in front of Gu Liang as well.

He added one line, “But I’ll be adding some work to the two bowls of noodles first.” Then, he ducked his head into the kitchen.

“Hey, your hand…” Gu Liang reminded him.

“It’s fine, it’s a small injury. Do you have any dislikes?” Yang Ye queried.

Gu Liang said: “I don’t eat coriander or carrots, I’m alright with everything else.”

“Sure, give me a moment.”

Yang Ye took out a slab of meat, defrosted it and minced the pork before he coated it with a combination of starch, olive oil, grounded pepper, and light soy sauce.

Afterwards, he chopped the onion, garlic, and ginger into a fine mince, heated the pan with oil, and poured the marinated meat in to stir-fry.

In an instant, the fragrance of the minced pork wafted out of the kitchen. When Gu Liang caught a whiff of it, he felt truly ravenous.

Once the minced pork was done, Yang Ye divided it into two portions and shifted it on top of the two bowls of noodles individually. Then, he finished everything off by using another pot to cook some vegetables and similarly placed it on top.

“It’s done.” Yang Ye carried out the two bowls of noodles and placed it in front of Gu Liang. “Yang style minced meat noodles.”

All of a sudden, the two bowls of bland noodles looked, smelled and tasted great, and it kind of felt like magic in Gu Liang’s eyes.

Gu Liang sniffed it before he took a bite. “Mn, it tastes good.”

“Hungry now? If you’re hungry, eat more.” Yang Ye said.

“En,” Gu Liang gave him a faint smile before he lowered his head to eat his noodles bite by bite.

Yang Ye ate at a quick pace and he finished his noodles in a few minute’s work, which was why it shocked him to find out that Gu Liang was not even one-third through with his.

After observing him a little, he noted that the method Gu Liang employed to eat his noodles were rather unconventional— he would pick up a few strands of noodles first and twirl it around his chopsticks completely before he brought it to his mouth to nibble on bit by bit. It was an extremely inefficient way of eating but rather refined, for not a single slurping noodle sound was issued.

Huh? Was his mouth that small?

Yang Ye could not help but say: “Kindergarten children eat their noodles like that, no?”

Gu Liang: “It’s more convenient to eat it this way. By the time noodles are coiled, it would have cooled down just as it enters my mouth. Eating while it’s too hot isn’t ideal for the oesophagus.”

“Tch. Truly delicate.” That was the remark Yang Ye gave.

But the comment in his heart was: Gu “sharp-tongued but soft-hearted · likes pink · eats delicately” Liang.

Under the consideration that Yang Ye’s hand was injured, Gu Liang was responsible for washing the dishes once they were done eating their noodles.

While he was doing so, Yang Ye took out a bottle of red wine from the wine cabinet and two glasses.

Thus, by the time Gu Liang exited the kitchen, Yang Ye was already holding up a wine glass and drinking from it. Additionally, there was another wine glass on the table which he prepared for Gu Liang.

“Do you want to drink some?’ Yang Ye asked.

“Mn. Sure.” Gu Liang nodded as he ambled over to the side table. Sitting down, he picked up the wine glass and swirled its contents before sipped the wine lightly.

The red hue of the wine in the tall, transparent glass was warmed up by the yellow lamplight, and the illumination seemed to layer it with a sheen of gold. The inlaid colours of the wine were good, the taste was even better, but Gu Liang was not in the mood to appreciate the wine. Rather, it was quite evident that his expression contained some dourness.

In that moment, even Yang Ye did not speak much, only raising his red wine and drinking from it. His mood was not light or relaxed either.

A short while later, Gu Liang glanced at Yang Ye before opening his mouth to ask: “Are you thinking about the death penalty?”

Yang Ye nodded. “And the open declaration of the two players’ real identities. It turns out… they have all done something.”

A self-mocking smile curled at the corners of Gu Liang’s lips. “Which means to say, perhaps you are right, we were all brought here because each and every one of us have sinned.”

Once he uttered those words, Gu Liang lifted his head and swallowed a mouthful of red wine.

He drank his wine at a slow pace. Head raised, the throat knot on his white porcelain neck moved with each swallow.

And even higher than that was his extremely elegant jawline, which simply had the most perfect arc.

When you look further upwards, you would find him slowly finishing his wine, with the slightest bit of red staining his lower lip.

Following closely, he pursed his lips, and unconsciously stuck out his tongue to lap it up. Yang Ye’s pupils darkened and he no longer dared to look on. Thus, his line of sight slid downwards and landed on his wrist.

Yang Ye came to the realisation that the red cord on his wrist had unexpectedly disappeared.

With such an occurrence, the scar that was originally hidden by the red cord, immediately appeared on his wrist with incomparable distinctiveness.

Gu Liang’s skin was very white and it was essentially without flaw. As a result of it, the scar lining his wrist became exceedingly hideous.

To have such a scar appear in that position, it was not difficult to guess how it happened.

Yang Ye found it hard to conceive that, a person like Gu Liang… actually silted his wrist in an attempt to suicide in the past?

When Gu Liang lowered his eyes, he noticed what he was looking at and retracted his hands back consciously.

Yang Ye’s eyebrows furrowed. “That red cord…”
