Chapter 29: Chapter29-Overnight Sensation! Auction begins!
With his new car in possession, Daniel was very pleased.
Even in the affluent West Coast community, his limited-edition Brabus had managed to turn quite a few heads.
Most of them, of course, were filled with admiration.
Passerby A: "Hey, man! Your car is wicked cool!"
Passerby B: "Oh, this car gives me the urge to own one!"
Passerby C: "Dear, can you step out of the car? Because seeing you in this vehicle fills me with the urge to, uh, get down and dirty. Come on, baby, let's get it on!"
Daniel glanced at Passerby C's wrinkled face and nearly fell-out false teeth, grinning mischievously: "I'll pass, my old baby. I'm too much for you to handle."
Then, he revved the engine and stylishly drove away.
As dusk fell, Daniel returned home.
He had bought a pile of items from the supermarket that might come in handy in his new home, as well as some fresh meat and vegetables.
Originally, he wanted to showcase his cooking skills and have a candlelit dinner with Sophia.
However, Sophia told him over the phone that she was studying for an exam at home and wouldn't be able to come over.
Daniel was admittedly disappointed, but Sophia promised him that next time she came over, she would give his manhood a special treat.
This instantly turned Daniel on.
While Daniel was daydreaming about Sophia's promise, the latest Container Hunt Auction went live online.
The eagerly waiting audience clicked to view the latest episode with great anticipation.
But when they saw a newbie at the auction, they couldn't help but smirk.
Here, newbies were synonymous with being gullible, invariably ending up in embarrassing situations or even losing big due to their arrogance.
When they saw Daniel's introduction, claiming he had scored an item worth 50 million on his first auction, everyone was instantly taken aback.
This was like playing with cheat codes!
As the show progressed, and they saw Daniel repeatedly finding bargains, everyone was utterly astounded.
This treasure hunter named Daniel was defying the odds!
Everyone's attention turned to the official Container Hunt TwistTweets account.
"I'm going to the auction tomorrow!"
"Daniel will be there too, right?"
"I'm going just because of him. I want to see if his constant success in finding bargains and making a killing is because he's a plant, or if he's just incredibly lucky!"
On all major Serenalia platforms, the latest episode also set the internet ablaze.
"Holy cow, Daniel is out of this world!"
"Is this finding bargains? It's more like he's picking up free money!"
"No way, I need to get a visa. I'm flying to Libertopia's Golden Shores tomorrow!"
"Look at how excited they are, tomorrow's live stream is going to be a show!"
...
Early the next morning, Daniel hit the road in his Brabus pickup truck.
Abel had called him the night before, warning that there would be a massive crowd today and advising him to arrive early.
Despite not understanding why the crowd size would affect him, Daniel complied.
Driving into the port and arriving at the container auction site, Daniel stepped out of his vehicle and was immediately dumbstruck.
The previously empty ground was now teeming with what must have been a thousand people!
When had the auction started attracting such crowds?
Daniel was taken aback.
As he locked his car and was about to wade into the sea of people, someone tugged him from behind.
Daniel spun around, ready to throw a punch, only to see Allen's familiar and somewhat annoying face grinning at him.
Daniel was speechless: "What are you doing here?"
Without answering, Allen allowed Abel to approach: "Are you just planning to waltz in there like this?"
Daniel was puzzled: "How else am I supposed to get in, by flying?"
Seeing his genuinely innocent face, Abel couldn't help but ask: "You have no idea, do you?"
Daniel blinked in confusion: "?"
Abel sighed and chuckled wryly, then explained: "They're all here for you, Daniel."
Only after Abel's explanation did Daniel understand.
Turns out after the broadcast of the show, many people had the impression that finding bargains on Container Hunt was akin to picking up free money, and they'd flocked here early in the morning.
"So, what if they're here? We're all just bidding, what's that got to do with me?"
Allen quietly added: "Some think you're a shill, others consider you a bona fide lucky charm and want you to be their advisor."
Abel chimed in: "If you walk in like this, you're definitely going to be stopped by many. Some might even try to kidnap you considering you're a newly minted millionaire. Those who get rich overnight are the easiest targets."
Cold sweat broke out on Daniel's forehead at the prospect.
"Then I'd better not participate in this auction."
Though his physical fitness had dramatically improved and he could easily handle three to five people, he would be up against hundreds, if not thousands, here.
A mob like this was best avoided.
Just as Daniel was about to leave, Abel suddenly grabbed his arm!
Abel, with a mischievous grin, said: "Dan, be our advisor today." fr𝚎ew𝚎𝚋n𝚘v𝚎l.𝚌𝚘m
Huh? An advisor?
Daniel was taken aback: "What do you mean by advisor?"
Allen jumped in: "You help us assess the items. In return, we'll give you fifty percent of the goods as commission."
Whoa, that much? Daniel was a bit surprised.
Having advisors in this line of work wasn't unusual, but typically they only received three to five percent of the goods' value as commission.
The fact these brothers were offering him fifty percent was a testament to their sincerity and trust in him.
After a moment of thought, Daniel asked: "What if there's a loss?"
Although this situation was highly unlikely, he thought it best to clarify upfront.
Allen waved off his concern: "If there's a loss, it's on us."
No loss on him, and a cut in the gains.
This deal was just too good to pass up.
Of course, under normal circumstances, even if Daniel was offered ninety percent, he would decline.
Why share when he could have it all to himself?
But today, due to special circumstances, Daniel nodded in agreement.
Seeing this, the Abel brothers instantly beamed with excitement.
With Daniel in their corner, they were confident they'd strike it big today.
The auction site.
The port authorities, perhaps anticipating today's crowd, had prepared the auction site meticulously.
There were waiting areas, auctioning areas, and a presenter's podium.
Dozens of uniformed security personnel were stationed around the auction site to maintain order.
In the waiting area, impatience was growing.
"When is the auction starting?"
"If it doesn't start soon, we're leaving!"
"Where is Daniel? Why isn't he here today?"
"I came just for Daniel. If he's not here today, I'm out!"
On the podium, Robert looked at the enthusiastic crowd, feeling gratified.
It seemed his earnings would significantly increase today.
He didn't know if Daniel would show up, but either way, it wouldn't affect his impending windfall.
Just as Robert, microphone in hand, walked to the center of the podium ready to speak, the Abel brothers appeared in the crowd with Daniel.
"Make way, Daniel is here!"
Whoosh! Thousands of gazes instantly swept towards them.
More than a dozen cameras also zeroed in on the trio.
Damn it. Daniel couldn't help but scold, "Couldn't you guys quietly squeeze your way to the front?"
Under such intense scrutiny, Abel and Allen also felt a bit embarrassed, wiping the cold sweat off their foreheads.
"I thought this way would be easier."
Suddenly, the crowd surged forward, all trying to get close to Daniel.
"Dan! Be my advisor!"
"Dan! I can give you a five percent commission!"
"I'll offer six percent!"
"Eight percent!"
"Dan! You're my lucky charm!"
"Dan! I'll give you a fifteen percent commission on the value of the goods!"
Treasure hunters swarmed like unleashed zombies, wishing they could snatch Daniel away on the spot.
Abel, pushed to the front, turned red in the face and roared at the crowd!
"Shut up! All of you, back off!"
"Daniel is MY advisor today! I'm offering him fifty percent of the value of the goods as commission, and he bears no risk of loss. If any of you can match that, then speak up!"
And in an instant...
The crowd fell silent.
They simply couldn't match that offer.
