Chapter 190: Chapter 190: Encountering Raccoon Monkeys

As soon as Xu Yi started working, Lu Ke went to handle the clay. She seemed to show no signs of being sick anymore. Even if it were her time of the month, it didn’t seem to affect her.

By around 11 o’clock, Lu Ke went to rest first.

Xu Yi worked for an additional half an hour, breaking the remaining flax stalks and soaking them in the puddle before he went inside to sleep.

Time had passed, and the effects of the alcohol had long faded. After all, the wine’s alcohol content was quite low, and neither of them drank much.

The next day, both of them woke up a bit late.

Thankfully, in the live streaming room, several people were keeping guard, ’eavesdropping,’ and since it seemed that nothing had happened, there wasn’t a heated discussion about their late wake-up.

After getting up, besides practicing the Eighteen Forms of Body Strengthening, Lu Ke added another routine, which was Basic Fighting Techniques.

In the live streaming room, many people followed along in learning.

After all, having practiced the Eighteen Forms of Body Strengthening, practicing some basic fighting techniques was no big deal.

"Xu Yi, are we going hunting today?" Lu Ke asked while sipping honey water.

"Okay, let’s head out and see if we can find any suitable animals." Xu Yi thought that although there were things to do at the camp, he preferred challenging himself by hunting.

"Alright, I’ll prepare some water and jerky," said Lu Ke, finishing her honey water before going to prepare supplies.

After getting ready, they left the camp, heading toward the Umbrella Tree Forest.

"Xu Yi, do you hear that sound?" Lu Ke suddenly stopped, whispering.

Xu Yi cocked his ear and then glanced at Lu Ke.

At such a distance, with such a little sound, how could she hear it?

His hearing had been enhanced by the system gifts, but Lu Ke hadn’t!

If she hadn’t pointed it out, Xu Yi really wouldn’t have noticed the sound.

"It seems like something’s being smashed?" Lu Ke listened for a while longer and asked Xu Yi for confirmation.

Xu Yi nodded, growing more curious.

However, he couldn’t ask her further.

Asking would mean exposing his exceptional hearing ability.

Thus, Xu Yi felt rather annoyed by the two camera balls following them so closely.

But Lu Ke’s enhanced hearing was a good thing, beneficial to their survival challenge.

"Could it be Wang Jin and Lu Yao up ahead?" Lu Ke speculated that whatever was making the noise was more likely to be Wang Jin and Lu Yao rather than animals.

"Hard to say, let’s sneak over and take a look," said Xu Yi, pulling out his bow and arrow.

Lu Ke nodded, picking up her crossbow and stealthily moving toward the faint sound.

She herself was completely unaware of any changes to her hearing.

"Do you smell anything?" Xu Yi whispered; he had already caught a scent.

Even without getting closer, he had determined it wasn’t Wang Jin and Lu Yao, but some kind of animal.

Lu Ke shook her head, sniffing hard but still unable to detect it.

Xu Yi let out a sigh of relief and continued walking forward.

About a minute later, they saw two animals throwing stones at each other.

"Are those monkeys?" Lu Ke asked in surprise because the animals could stand upright.

Xu Yi shook his head; judging by the head, they didn’t look like monkeys.

At any rate, they weren’t species from their planet; they were native animals here.

"Stay still, let’s see if there are any other animals," Xu Yi suggested, thinking the animals resembled monkeys in behavior.

He worried they might be social creatures.

Seeing the two animals toss stones with such force and agility, none hit their target despite the throw.

Such creatures were more suited for hand-to-hand combat, posing high risks.

"Don’t provoke them, absolutely don’t provoke them. Slip away quickly while they haven’t noticed us!"

"Aren’t these the same Raccoon Monkeys that chased Wanzi and cousin for hours? How come Loli Ke and Xu Yi have run into them too?"

"I’m already anticipating scenes of them sprinting through the jungle. I wonder if Loli Ke can still run so long, especially since she’s got her period."

"If there are only two of them, they’re practically handing Xu Yi and Lu Ke points. Xu Yi and Lu Ke managed to kill a 12-point black bear, surely two 8-point monkeys won’t be a problem?"

"The chances of there being only two are low, there might be a dozen or more."

Viewers familiar with the Raccoon Monkey expressed concern. Though Wang Jin and Lu Yao had spent the entire encounter fleeing, not fighting the monkeys, they knew the monkeys were tough opponents.

If it weren’t for the monkeys’ inferior endurance and stamina compared to Wang Jin and Lu Yao, the outcome could have been reversed.

So, seeing Xu Yi and Lu Ke approach the Raccoon Monkeys, their nerves were instantly on edge.

Xu Yi observed for a moment before drawing his bow. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

With only two of them in sight, Xu Yi felt they could attack.

Lu Ke also aimed at the other one, hoping to take them out directly with luck.

The two almost simultaneously released their sharp arrows, both hitting their targets.

Lu Ke aimed for the neck, her crossbow arrow embedding halfway; although struck, the Raccoon Monkey clawed at its neck and even pulled the arrow out.

Xu Yi struck the chest, but it didn’t seem to hit the heart.

So, the Raccoon Monkey yelled, a stone flying toward Xu Yi.

However, the throw was off, missing both Xu Yi and Lu Ke.

Then, it started charging toward them.

"Leave it to me, you cover me," Xu Yi said, shouldering his hunting bow and drawing his dagger, charging at the Raccoon Monkey.

Lu Ke had already reloaded another crossbow arrow, ready to shoot at any moment.

As for the one she hit, after pulling out the neck arrow, it immediately collapsed.

In moments, the Raccoon Monkey was upon Xu Yi.

It swung its claws, aiming for Xu Yi’s throat.

Xu Yi jabbed his dagger forward.

The dagger slashed the Raccoon Monkey’s outstretched forelimb, causing it to howl and retract its limb.

But it showed no sign of fleeing, lunging to bite Xu Yi instead.

Xu Yi sidestepped, slashing out with his dagger.

He sliced open the Raccoon Monkey’s upper abdomen, leaving a gaping wound.

"Howl."

The Raccoon Monkey seemed unfazed by pain, turning to swipe its deadly claws at Xu Yi again.

Xu Yi was startled by the monkey’s ferocity, never expecting it to keep attacking even after two blows.
