Live Strong in the Wilderness-Chapter 206: Swift Action
Moreover, the fox had already been shot by my arrow.
Even though it wasn’t a vital area, it would still reduce the fox’s combat ability somewhat.
So, there was no better opportunity than this.
Recalling the day Xu Yi fought with the Raccoon Monkey, Lu Ke reversed the grip on the dagger, then lowered her body and approached the fox.
As she was about to get close, the fox seemed to sense something, then turned its head, bared its sharp teeth at Lu Ke, attempting to scare her away.
Unfortunately, it did not, and Lu Ke moved closer again.
After all, if the distance was too far, there would be no way to attack.
The fox seemed to be provoked by Lu Ke and lunged at her.
With quick eyes and hands, Lu Ke grabbed the skin at the back of the fox’s neck.
Xu Yi had said that this was a good spot.
Then, lifting it, she stabbed the dagger into the fox’s belly, slicing downward.
The fox screamed, its belly was slashed open by Lu Ke.
"That simple?" Lu Ke couldn’t believe she had just sliced open the fox’s belly.
"Simple? Loli Ke, how could you become overconfident?"
"Your reaction was so fast, how did you precisely grab the fox’s neck?"
"If you hadn’t grabbed it at the perfect spot, it wouldn’t have been so easy. If it had turned back and bitten your wrist, you would have been the one screaming instead!"
"Xu Yi’s teaching is really dangerous; if you don’t grab the right spot, it’s easy to get bitten back! Fortunately, our Loli Ke always has good luck, or else she would’ve gotten bitten."
"If you got bitten, it would be troublesome. If it had rabies, it could be deadly."
"Xu Yi said when teaching, if you have no way to start, or are caught off guard by attacks, you can grab the skin at the back of the neck, but it’s not meant for starting at the beginning. For criticizing Xu Yi, please give it more thought, okay?"
"But Loli Ke’s reactions are indeed fast now, much faster than before."
"It’s been so long, she’s gradually familiarized herself with the wilderness, so it’s normal for her reaction to be quicker."
"Anyway, Loli Ke is much more impressive now. Even alone, she has the ability to protect herself."
"Xu Yi sleeps soundly, doesn’t he? The fox cried out like that and he still didn’t wake up. If danger had come, wouldn’t he have been done for?"
"It’s easy to criticize while standing up; haven’t you noticed how little time Xu Yi has slept these past two days? And he hasn’t stopped working since he started. If it were you, not even thunder would wake you."
Even though it was night on that planet, there was a two-hour difference, so for the live broadcast audience, it was daytime. That’s why many people were watching the live stream.
After Lu Ke sliced open the fox’s belly, she let go.
She didn’t believe the fox could still attack her, so she threw it on the ground.
After a while, she heard a voice.
"Hunt a forest fox, earn 3 points."
Upon hearing the prompt, Lu Ke couldn’t help but smile happily.
Adding these 3 points, she and Xu Yi now had 135 points.
The night was still long, so Lu Ke didn’t process the fox but took out the hemp rope from Xu Yi’s shoulder bag and tied it to the ladder, thus avoiding it being torn apart by other animals if they were drawn by the scent of blood.
Lu Ke liked the fox’s fur; it could be used for making clothes.
They didn’t have much fur now, so they needed to start accumulating again.
After dealing with it, Lu Ke returned to the campfire and continued being on guard around her.
Shortly after midnight, Xu Yi woke up.
The first thing he saw was the white fox hanging on the ladder, somewhat surprised.
"You killed a fox?" Xu Yi asked, sitting up.
"Yes, I was rather lucky." Lu Ke smiled slightly, quite pleased with her performance. After all, she managed to kill it alone, using only a dagger.
"Very impressive." Although a fox’s combat ability is generally ordinary compared to a wolf, it’s still a legitimate carnivore with very sharp teeth.
"Alright, go sleep first." Xu Yi didn’t say much more and told Lu Ke to rest since it was already late.
"Okay, be careful." Lu Ke wasn’t being coy; she directly went over and lay down where Xu Yi had been sleeping. Maybe because Xu Yi had just gotten up, it was still warm there.
After Lu Ke fell asleep, Xu Yi signed in with the system and then got up to practice fighting techniques.
Since he couldn’t sleep anyway and there was nothing else to do, might as well train.
The latter half of the night was calm; no animals attacked.
The sky soon brightened, and Xu Yi started boiling the rabbit meat early.
Lu Ke woke up a bit early, getting up at 6 a.m.
She needed to practice the Eighteen Forms of Body Strengthening and basic fighting, which would take at least half an hour.
So, taking advantage of this time, Xu Yi carried the ladder to cut trees.
This time shouldn’t be wasted unnecessarily.
In half an hour, he could chop down one tree.
With the ladder, Xu Yi only took twenty minutes to cut one down, improving efficiency a bit.
At this moment, Xu Yi was even more grateful for following Lu Ke’s suggestion to find a new location for their shelter here.
After chopping it down, Xu Yi started with the manual work.
A while later, Lu Ke was done washing up, and they both ate the stewed rabbit meat together.
After breakfast, they set off to move the ceramic jar.
Three hours later, they reached their destination.
"It seems no animals have stolen the honey, but there were attempts," Xu Yi said, looking at some dragged branches.
The honey in the jar was among their few resources, naturally hoping it wouldn’t be spoiled by other animals.
"Yes, there are so many branches on top, there shouldn’t be," Lu Ke replied, and then she, along with Xu Yi, moved the branches covering it away.
After moving them, indeed, there weren’t.
Then, Xu Yi picked up the jar, Lu Ke put two ceramic pots in her basket, and they moved toward the new campsite.
It was close to 2 PM when they returned to the camp.
The fox hanging on the ladder was still safe, not brought down by other animals.
"It really feels a bit like home," Lu Ke said, putting down the basket, somewhat anticipating what the completed Stilt House would be like.
"In the future, this will be our new home, hopefully without disasters to destroy it," Xu Yi said, also putting down the ceramic jar.
They still needed to figure out a way to make a lid for it; otherwise, it would be troublesome if it rained.
A straw hat, Xu Yi thought, would be a good choice. After all, they now had endless bamboo.
