Live Strong in the Wilderness-Chapter 242: Hunting the Flying Giant Beast
"Go." Xu Yi pulled Lu Ke and ran toward the forest, as the Flying Giant Beast was indeed diving towards them.
When the two entered the forest, the Flying Giant Beast landed right where Xu Yi and Lu Ke had just been standing.
"That was close, good thing you reacted quickly." Lu Ke said, feeling a bit fearful. After all, the Flying Giant Beast looked very dangerous; its claws were sharper than a hawk’s, and she felt that a single grab could pierce right through their bodies.
"It’s coming; should we kill it?" Lu Ke glanced at Xu Yi, asking nervously.
"Let’s try; it would be best if we can kill it." Xu Yi smiled slightly, then took down his Hunting Bow and waited for the Flying Giant Beast to approach.
He was curious about what this Flying Giant Beast was called and how many points it was worth if hunted.
Also, with such large wings, he wondered if it would taste good roasted.
Once the Flying Giant Beast got closer, Xu Yi nocked an arrow onto his Hunting Bow and aimed it.
Lu Ke was also ready, just waiting for Xu Yi to draw the bow.
"Wait until it’s in the forest." Xu Yi didn’t pull the bow to full draw; he was waiting for the Flying Giant Beast to enter the forest.
Once inside, its wings couldn’t fully extend, which would prevent it from flying.
Lu Ke nodded, and the Laser Sight’s dot remained on the Flying Giant Beast’s body.
Should Xu Yi give the command, her Crossbow Arrow would shoot into the Flying Giant Beast’s body.
As it got closer, the Flying Giant Beast screeched and charged into the forest.
"Draw the bow, kill it." Xu Yi grinned, then released his Sharp Arrow.
This Flying Giant Beast was practically offering itself to be scored on, daring to charge into the forest.
Two arrows were released simultaneously, straight into the Flying Giant Beast’s body.
The arrows pierced directly into the Flying Giant Beast, causing it to scream in agony.
"Too late to run now." Xu Yi slung the Hunting Bow over his shoulder, drew his machete, and charged forward.
Lu Ke also drew her dagger, not willing to let Xu Yi fight alone.
The Flying Giant Beast was much taller than Xu Yi, at least over two meters tall.
Unable to fly, its running speed was very slow.
Xu Yi quickly caught up and slashed at its sharp claws.
Without its claws, it would have no chance of survival.
With one swing, Xu Yi chopped off one of the Flying Giant Beast’s claws.
After losing its claws, the Flying Giant Beast immediately stumbled, its wings flapping wildly.
It flailed towards Xu Yi, who swiftly slashed again.
With a swift chop, Xu Yi disabled the Flying Giant Beast’s wings.
It desperately struggled to escape, but it was too late.
It didn’t expect its prey today to be so terrifying, completely different from the prey it usually hunted.
In the past, those animals, although they resisted, weren’t fatal.
Unfortunately, its brain was too simple to comprehend such complex matters.
And, of course, there would be no opportunity to ponder further.
Because Xu Yi swiftly decapitated it.
"Xu Yi is becoming more and more fierce, decapitating the Flying Giant Beast in less than three minutes."
"I thought this Flying Giant Beast would be tough, but it was so pathetic."
"Is it really about being weak? Clearly, it’s utterly foolish. It dared to enter the forest to attack Xu Yi and Lu Ke. Wasn’t it just asking to die?"
"When the Raccoon Monkey was throwing at the Flying Giant Beast, I already knew it was brainless, but I didn’t expect it to be this mindless."
"Indeed, stupidity led to its downfall. If it hadn’t entered the forest, Xu Yi and Lu Ke would have had a much harder time dealing with it."
"The more foolish ones like this, the better. Sending points and meat."
"This dumb bird can’t possibly be tamed, right? If someone does manage to tame it, they’d probably be doomed."
Xu Yi flicked the blood off his machete and spat.
The Flying Giant Beast’s blood was very fishy, with a strong odor that made Xu Yi feel like vomiting.
Needless to say, the meat of this creature surely wasn’t going to taste good.
"Killed one Giant Emu, earned 6 points." 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
Hearing this, Xu Yi couldn’t help but twitch his lips.
"Giant Emu, what an unusual name, but only six points? That’s a mistake, right?" Xu Yi complained to the camera, as if the Giant Emu hadn’t entered the forest, its claws would have been terrifying.
Xu Yi picked up the claw from the ground; it was as thick as his wrist, indicating its immense strength.
If Xu Yi’s machete weren’t so incredibly sharp, killing the Giant Emu quickly would’ve been challenging.
"Is this bird really called that, Giant Emu?" Lu Ke asked while pinching her nose, surprised by how fishy and foul-smelling the blood was, which was not normal at all.
"Yes, let’s leave this place; the smell is indeed quite unpleasant, and I bet the meat is too." Xu Yi said, plucking a few feathers and retrieving the arrows they shot before preparing to leave.
Lu Ke agreed, nodding, and they both rapidly walked away.
After walking about ten meters, the two finally found the smell slightly more bearable.
"I thought it would be hard to kill, but it turned out to be quite easy." Lu Ke turned and said, genuinely surprised.
"This thing is way too dumb, daring to enter the forest; isn’t that just asking to die? It’s just too stinky, so I don’t even want to kill it next time." Xu Yi figured, considering it only gave six points, it wasn’t very tempting.
Perhaps even crocodiles would score higher.
And Lu Ke mentioned that crocodile meat tasted great, undoubtedly not as nauseatingly fishy.
"Yeah, truly quite foolish." Lu Ke nodded; entering the jungle didn’t provide it any advantage. For animals, their instinct is to stay away from unfavorable places; who purposely goes towards danger?
It’s like, if you clearly can’t swim, and yet you insist on wading into the water to catch fish, that’s basically courting death.
So, in Lu Ke’s opinion, scoring six points was already quite reasonable.
"Let’s head back; time is pressing." Xu Yi walked to the streamside, washing the machete and his blood-stained hands.
"Hmm, we probably have to run back; it’s almost two o’clock." Lu Ke remarked.
Then, the two started jogging downstream.
With the stream as a guide, they didn’t need to look for directions or marks, simply running along the water downstream.
By six o’clock, they had returned to the camp, with the sky starting to darken.
However, they managed to return to the camp before dark.
"Xu Yi, do you think the basket we left by the stream is full of little shrimps now?" Lu Ke pointed at the old basket in the creek and said.
"I think there are plenty; we should feast tonight." Xu Yi replied and prepared to fetch the basket from the water.
