Live Strong in the Wilderness-Chapter 265: A Father and Son
Everything needed for going out was prepared by Lu Ke early in the morning.
Whether they went out or not, every morning she had to have these things ready. Otherwise, if they suddenly decided to head out, it would take time to prepare.
So, it was better to have everything ready early on.
And the things prepared were just water and jerky, as well as a medical first aid kit and fire-starting tools that were always kept in her satchel. So, she could have it ready during her training period and didn’t want to waste extra time.
After putting on the satchel and backpack, taking weapons, and checking whether the doors of the first floor and the deer pen were closed properly, Xu Yi and Lu Ke finally stepped out.
They hadn’t been gone long when another group of challengers appeared at Xu Yi and Lu Ke’s camp.
"Dad, you were right, there really is a camp." An eighteen-year-old boy sitting on a black horse turned his head to look at a bald middle-aged man.
"Dismount, take a break, and see if there’s anything to eat." Saying this, the middle-aged man dismounted and tied his reins to Xu Yi’s first-floor fence.
"Dad, they even have a Giant Wolf and fat sheep." The boy pointed at two animals on the first floor and couldn’t help but grin.
"It seems this group is quite strong, fitting our criteria for choosing partners." The middle-aged man glanced at the Giant Wolf and fat sheep; both animals they had hunted before, so they recognized them.
"So should we stay and get in touch with them? Also, they have two reindeer, maybe they have mounts too." As he spoke, the boy glanced at the deer pen on the side, then at his father.
His name was Zhou Mo, a name that’s casual and easy to remember.
He looked simple and plain, but his body was very strong.
He was the top scorer in their province’s college entrance exam this year, but his mother fell critically ill and needed a large sum of money for a kidney transplant. So, the father-son duo signed up for this wilderness challenge together.
As long as they lasted a hundred days, they could earn a million, enough to save his mother.
Before joining the show, Zhou Mo had already negotiated with the person in charge. After reaching one hundred days, the show’s crew would give the money to his sister, Zhou Tian.
His father, Zhou Chun, was a migrant worker, rather dull but skilled in taming animals and hunting. The black horse they rode was captured and tamed by Zhou Chun.
Zhou Chun nodded. Despite appearing dull and not eloquent, he was the decision-maker.
It was also because of Zhou Chun that they could last so many days.
The father and son thought since they could last a hundred days, why not challenge themselves to 500 more days?
If successful, the father and son could earn two billion.
They could change not only their destiny but the fate of their family and relatives!
Such an opportunity was not to be missed!
However, to complete the remaining 400 days, teammates were definitely important. Relying only on themselves to challenge 500 days was a bit naive.
That’s why Zhou Chun brought his son out to find a suitable team to cooperate with.
So far, they had met six groups of people but none appeared to be better off than them, nor did any look strong.
Hence, they hadn’t found a suitable team yet.
But upon reaching Xu Yi and Lu Ke here, he saw a glimmer of hope.
"You stay on guard here, I’ll go up and take a look." said Zhou Chun, then picked up a ladder from the ground and set it up.
Zhou Mo took down the crossbow on his back. His crossbow was a size bigger than Lu Ke’s, something they exchanged for 200 points, their strongest weapon.
When they first entered, they chose their weapon as a machete, which was now hanging behind Zhou Chun.
However, Zhou Chun had made several hunting bows, and he was carrying one right now.
He went up the stilt house, pushed open Xu Yi’s room door, and went in.
And then, he was astonished.
On top of the roof, there were plenty of jerky hanging, and he also saw sausages.
Following that, his mouth gaped open.
The corner of the room was piled with potatoes and mangoes.
This was the first time he had seen such a massive food reserve.
Neither he nor Zhou Mo had such a food stockpile.
Then, he saw the bamboo bed and froze for a moment.
This group actually had craftsmen?
On the bamboo bed, there was a thick fur blanket.
On the blanket, two fur coats were folded. It must have taken many hunted animals to have so much fur to make these things.
"They even have pottery jars and urns?" Zhou Chun saw pottery jars and urns placed in another corner, stepped over to take a look and confirm.
After realizing these were indeed pottery jars and urns, he was thoroughly impressed.
He and Zhou Mo had tinkered with pottery but could only successfully fire small items like bowls and cups, not a single large item.
And here was a large pottery urn.
Being skilled in bamboo craftsmanship was one thing, but the ability to make pottery was truly impressive.
"Is this honey?" Zhou Chun removed the bamboo-woven cover on top, immediately recognizing the scent.
However, he didn’t touch it.
His goal was to inspect.
"Son, do you want to purchase some potatoes or jerky? By the way, there are some mangoes here too." Zhou Chun walked out and asked a question.
"They have potatoes?" Zhou Mo exclaimed in surprise and said, "Then let’s go for potatoes and mangoes, I’m tired of eating meat and don’t really want it anymore. Dad, we have three or four pounds of pig iron here; should we be able to get more?"
"Of course, I estimate we’re the only ones who found an iron mine, rare things are more valuable. Come, throw me the bag," said Zhou Chun. This group seemed to meet their collaboration criteria.
Therefore, Zhou Chun packed a bag of potatoes and mangoes, totaling around thirty pounds.
The exchange was not counted as mutual assistance.
Moreover, this was a one-sided transaction, so it absolutely wasn’t considered mutual assistance.
They had done such deals multiple times without receiving any warnings or punishments.
"We should have encountered experts, so I think we can stay and reach out to them. What do you think?" Zhou Chun looked at his son who was squatting, writing on the ground, leaving a message regarding their trade with Xu Yi and them.
"Since they’re experts, we should definitely reach out. So, I’ll leave a message telling them we’re nearby; when they call our names, we’ll come out. If they’re not interested, we’ll leave by tomorrow morning?" said Zhou Mo while writing with his short knife, glancing up at his father from time to time.
"Alright, after you finish writing, we’ll find a suitable place around here to rest and have a nap." Zhou Chun said, as he untied the rein.
