Longevity, starting from being a chicken raising servant-Chapter 1601 - 108: Prophecy_3
Chapter 1601 -108: Prophecy_3
“What’s wrong with the Longevity Divine Power?”
Wang Ba shook his head:
“Sect Leader Liang also has a calamity.”
“This calamity may be related to this divine power. I initially wanted to advise you to forget this divine power and sever the calamity. But since the power originates from the Undying Divine Tree, even if you forget it, it may still be of no avail…”
Liang Wuji’s complexion shifted slightly, but as someone who achieved Immortal Ascension and served as the sect leader, his determination was naturally extraordinary. He did not concern himself with his own fate but instead asked in a deep voice:
“This calamity, could it also be related to the Grand Calamity of Heaven and Earth that you mentioned earlier?”
Wang Ba nodded slightly, confirming his speculation.
He then added:
“The situations facing Sect Leader Liang and the Qin Family are both connected to the future Grand Calamity of Heaven and Earth. However, the interference from calamity Qi only allows me to see part of it.”
Upon hearing this, Liang Wuji and Qin Yunjian both seemed lost in thought.
Vice Tao Temple Master Xiong Zhaojing couldn’t help but interject:
“Taoist Friend Wang, why not take a look at Xiong as well?”
Wang Ba did not refuse, focusing his power into his vision. Shortly after, he let out a mild “hmm.”
“What is it?”
Wang Ba’s reaction immediately aroused curiosity from Xiong Zhaojing and the others.
Wang Ba shook his head and gave Xiong Zhaojing a meaningful glance:
“Vice Tao Temple Master Xiong has the assistance of a great figure; you don’t need to worry.”
Upon hearing this, Xiong Zhaojing’s expression subtly shifted ever so slightly. His gaze toward Wang Ba now carried an added depth of reverence.
Seeing this, the others were somewhat puzzled. Only Liang Wuji glanced thoughtfully at Xiong Zhaojing.
He then swept his eyes over Wang Ba, the weight in his expression deepening.
The two sects and the Qin Family no longer had the leisure to continue chatting here. After congratulating each other briefly, they took their leave in haste.
Wang Ba watched as Liang Wuji and the others departed, then turned to Zhao Feng, Ji Ying, Xumi, Ling Weizi, and the others, speaking solemnly:
“Sect Master, elders, the great calamity is approaching. Our sect needs to fully prepare. I propose that, starting today, our Wanxiang Sect closes its gates and goes into seclusion. Besides maintaining operations at the Ghost Market, no other disciples are to leave the sect casually.”
These words immediately stirred a wave of commotion in the hall.
Although there were doubts, no one outright denied him.
After all, Wang Ba had single-handedly established the Taoist Field and repeatedly defeated the World Eaters.
Upon entering Immortal Ascension, he was assisted by two Class IV Dao Soldiers.
Currently, no one in the sect could match Wang Ba’s prestige; his strength was second only to Hui Yunzi Ancestor.
Though not the sect master, his words carried more weight than the sect master’s.
At least within Taihe Palace, no one dared to object.
However, Zhao Feng, who had always supported Wang Ba, suddenly spoke up:
“Now that the deputy sect master has successfully crossed the tribulation, and with Hui Yunzi Ancestor present, our sect is at its strongest ever. Even if the calamity arrives, isn’t retreating and hiding like this too passive?”
Zhao Feng’s words immediately garnered a few supportive responses from others.
Wang Ba, however, saw through Zhao Feng’s intentions—he was offering Wang Ba an opportunity to convince them.
Wang Ba didn’t hold back and responded directly:
“The True Martial Cultivators have swept through Huangji Continent. Most of Tianmo Continent and Jingyuan Continent have already fallen into their hands. The Kingdom of Immortals has retreated to a corner and likely won’t hold out much longer. Once they completely take Jingyuan Continent, their next step will surely be to conquer Fenglin Continent… Rather than clash with the True Martial Cultivators and exhaust our resources, it would be wiser to avoid the conflict, conserve our strength, and wait for the grand calamity when it arrives.”
Among the crowd, Ling Weizi, although typically supportive of Wang Ba, frowned as he spoke pragmatically:
“Is there any chance that the True Martial Cultivators are the grand calamity we must face? Although they have a limited lifespan, their numbers are overwhelmingly large. More importantly, it’s said that they harbor a grudge against cultivators…”
“The True Martial Cultivators absolutely cannot be the so-called Grand Calamity of Heaven and Earth.”
Wang Ba shook his head firmly.
Seeing the confusion in their faces, he was unwilling to elaborate further and explained that this was the result of divination.
With this, the others reluctantly approved Wang Ba’s proposal, albeit with some skepticism.
Following the proposal’s passage, the people in the hall could no longer sit still. Shutting the mountain gates and going into seclusion wasn’t a simple decision. Apart from notifying the Longevity Sect, Youxian Temple, and the Qin Family, preparations needed to be made in advance, such as storing low-class resources not found within the sect and modifying the Sect Protection Array.
These preparations would take no less than a few years.
As everyone became occupied, Wang Ba attempted to quietly slip away, only to be stopped by Zhao Feng.
Zhao Feng sighed with some frustration:
“Junior Brother, didn’t you say before that once you reached Immortal Ascension, you would take the position of sect master?”
“The position of sect master, huh…”
Wang Ba drew out his words, his mind quickly scrambling for a response.
When he was in the Nascent Soul stage, he did indeed plan to try being sect master once the time was right. But now that he had reached Immortal Ascension, the thought no longer appealed to him.
In terms of status, even Patriarch Ji Ying treated him with respect. In terms of power, anything he said was heeded, whether by the sect master or the elders of Taihe Palace.
Most importantly, he didn’t have to deal with the exhausting responsibilities of being sect master. Wasn’t this far more comfortable?
Zhao Feng easily saw through Wang Ba’s thoughts, his face darkening slightly:
“Are you planning to go back on your word, Junior Brother?”
Wang Ba quickly put on a smile and replied:
“Senior Brother, what are you saying? Who wouldn’t want the position of sect master? But with the calamity approaching, our sect’s Dao Soldier mass-production plan still requires my attention, the Taoist Field needs further improvements, and the Perfect Practitioners within the sect need my help suppressing their Heart Demons to successfully cross their tribulations. All of these tasks require my direct involvement. I really can’t spare the time. Moreover, I plan to travel across the Nine Continents soon to investigate the origin of the grand calamity.”
