Chapter 43: Dangerous pulls of nature!
She saw a wind pull—a phenomenon where a powerful wind gust creates a vacuum effect, drawing everything towards it with incredible force. This particular wind was rising at the speed of sound, tearing up the ground beneath it, and beyond that, its full extent remained unseen.
"That’s your spot," Sensei said, a creepy smile spreading across his face as he looked at Sakura, who was frozen in thought.
Impossible! Those two are lucky. They get to stay in the water for two days, getting enough hydration while I’m stuck here in a spot where I might get thrown away and remain unfound, with no chance of food for two days. How am I supposed to survive? I can’t possibly use my technique for two days straight!
Sakura’s frustration stemmed from the fact that using her technique continuously would drain her Ki and would take a significant amount of time to replenish. Exhausting it could leave her vulnerable and unable to defend herself or even think clearly, making survival nearly impossible.
Sensei gestured with his head, instructing her to move forward slightly and wait for the wind to come toward her. Reluctantly, Sakura stepped forward about six inches and stood still, her heart racing.
To prevent being blown away while conserving her Ki, Sakura devised a plan. She would focus on maintaining a low stance, using her body to anchor herself against the wind. Instead of channeling her technique at full strength, she would utilize it in short bursts, just enough to create a protective barrier around her without overexerting herself.
This way, she could absorb the wind’s energy, redirecting it rather than confronting it head-on. By visualizing the wind as a flowing river, she could ride its currents instead of fighting against them, allowing her to conserve her energy while remaining stable.
Sensei vanished, leaving her to deal with her challenge however she wanted.
Sakura took a deep breath, grounding herself as she prepared her plan.
As the wind began to approach, a low rumble filled the air, growing louder and more menacing. It surged toward her like a freight train, pulling at her clothes and hair. The ground trembled beneath her feet, and she could feel the pressure building, threatening to lift her off the ground.
Sakura braced herself, her muscles tensing as the wind struck. She focused on her breathing, drawing in Ki from all over slowly, feeling it flow through her like a warm tide. Each gust tried to tear her away, but she anchored herself, pushing her feet into the earth.
With every powerful push of the wind, she felt her body sway, her arms instinctively reaching out to maintain balance. Adrenaline coursing through her veins. She activated her technique in short bursts, the energy shimmering around her like a protective shield. Each pulse of Ki helped to counteract the wind’s force, creating a momentary buffer that allowed her to withstand it.
Sakura calculated her movements. She leaned into the wind, using its momentum to her advantage. As it pushed against her, she shifted her weight, pivoting her body to maintain stability. Every time the wind threatened to lift her off her feet, she grounded herself further, digging her heels into the dirt, feeling the earth beneath her as a solid anchor.
The strain in her muscles was overwhelming, but she reminded herself to stay focused. Each gust, she adjusted her stance, bending her knees deeper, allowing the wind to flow around her rather than through her.
"Come on! Let’s do this!" Sakura struggled to shout as the wind pulled harder....

Gojin and Kenji were currently facing their own predicament. The water currents had surged dramatically, increasing by 20% in intensity. This influx of water created a powerful torrent, making it increasingly difficult for Kenji to maintain his footing.
Tides and wind significantly influenced the water currents. Tides are caused by the gravitational pull of the moon and sun, creating high and low water levels. During high tide, the increased volume of water can enhance current strength, especially in narrow bays or estuaries, leading to powerful tidal currents. The transition between flood and ebb tides also generates strong flows as water moves in and out.
The wind plays a crucial role by pushing the water across the surface, creating currents that can travel long distances. Strong winds generate waves, which interact with existing currents, amplifying their strength. Storms can lead to storm surges, dramatically increasing water levels and current intensity, particularly during high tide.
The combination of tidal and wind influences results in complex current patterns that can impact navigation, cause shoreline erosion, and affect sediment transport.
However, Gojin continuously used his Ki to keep his balance, managing to anchor Kenji to the ground, which was why Kenji was still standing.
The water roared like a wild beast, crashing against them with force, trying to throw them off their feet. Each wave felt like a ship barreling down on them, the sheer power of the current threatening to sweep them away.
Thanks to Gojin’s infinite Ki, he could endure this challenge for weeks, even months. He clasped his hands tighter, and so did Kenji, as true Ki surged around them. They focused intently on their stances, digging their feet into the shallow river ground - muddy. Spreading their weight evenly. Gojin adjusted his center of gravity, leaning slightly into the current to maintain stability, like a sturdy tree bending but not breaking in a storm. Kenji mirrored his movements, relying on Gojin’s strength to stay grounded.
As the currents continued to escalate, they could feel the pressure mounting like a tightening vise. The water swirled around them with increasing ferocity.
Many exorcists and soul reapers had failed this challenge; most lasted only four minutes before being swept away to a waterfall or another distant river. The treacherous wind pull was even more daunting—no one dared to attempt it. The second-years had been pushed away by the water just a day after trying, and the three girls had always declined the wind pull, opting out of the challenge entirely.
Suddenly, a large boulder was hurled toward them, likely dislodged from the bank, hurtling toward them at a dangerous speed. Kenji’s eyes widened in horror, but Gojin, still focused on maintaining his ground, did...
