Lord Of Puppets-Chapter 190 – Invite to the meeting.
[Few moments later – Camp – Guild leader private tent.]
"..."
(OKAY! WHAT THE FUCK!?) – shouted the guild master inside of her own head.
(The meeting.... It was completely disaster.)
"THIS IS A TRAP!"
"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!"
"YEAH! I DON’T BUY IT!"
"BUT WHAT IF IT REALLY DO WANT PEACEFUL APPROCH!?"
"PEACE!? AFTER ALL THE PEOPLE THAT THING KILLED! NO FUCKING WAY!"
"BUT THINK ABOUT IT!"
(It was straight up just screaming back and forth, with people raising the same arguments over and over against each other.) – thought the guild master as she recalled the meeting and pretty much how horrible it went.
"..."
(Still, even though it was completely chaotic, I could get a solid gist.)
(About 70% to 80% people want to go with monster extermination.)
(And I’m one of the people that are full on board regarding the extermination.)
"..."
(But there is also that golem Arthur guy said....)
"Maybe we should at least first talk with it?"
(That is what he said... Honestly, the chances of that being an ambush is beyond high.... Then again... This guy went straight down to the business on this letter.)
(A private conversation.)
(He said not to bring army.... But can I at least bring body guards?)
(Honestly, I’m not some weakling. I maybe not necessary a strong bastard, but I can at least fight somewhat.)
(Not only that, we can use the members of the Silver Talons as the body guards.)
"..."
(We can check if that guy will keep his promise.... And there is this.) – thought the guild master as she flipped over the scroll, revealing a makeshift map of the forest, which had a cross mark at one of the spots.
(This is map....)
(Fuck me.)
(That thing understand what maps are and knows how to read them!?)
(Not only that.... It is not perfect, but I can make out the shape based on the map I have here.) – thought the guild master as she gazed at the official map of the territory, which included a golem infested forest.
(The dungeon is here.... And the marked spot is here.... They are nowhere near close to each other.)
(This spot maybe inside of the forest.... But still, it is not deep enough to be considered dangerous.... IF the golems will stay near the dungeon.)
(If they won’t, then that means this is clearly a trap.)
(But... If it is not a trap.... Then maybe it will be worth doing that meeting?)
[Meanwhile: Arthur Wirmur’s private tent.] 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"So, it wasn’t your doing?" – asked the leader of the Silver Talons.
"NO! FUCK NO!" – replied Arthur Wirmur.
"I mean, for that plan to even work out, I would need to have you assist me! Since there is way too many eyes around!"
"And did you helped me out?! No!"
"..."
"Then.... That means that this is real deal?" – said the masked adventurer.
"Probably.... But.... I just.... *Sigh*.... I don’t know." – replied Arthur as he grabbed his head.
(Even if the being is intelligent. It doesn’t necessary mean it can speak your language.)
(But he can?)
(I mean, the plan was to capture him and force him to learn it, but now there is no need to?!)
(For crying out loud, that bastard value is keep increasing nonstop!)
(If I manage to capture him, fuck just promotion! I WILL DEFINITLY GET SOMETHING BEYOND IT!)
"..."
"But there is no way she will accept the deal, you know that, right?" – said the masked adventurer, which instantly destroyed Arthur’s excitement.
"..."
"As much as it annoys me to admit it... She probably won’t...." – said Arthur.
"And you are already aware of the fact that your borrowed authority will now means shit, right?" – said the masked adventurer, which instantly annoyed the man.
"Listen! I-"
"No! You freaking listen here!" – said the masked adventurer, interrupting the golem specialists before he could even ask a question.
"We are running out of time here!"
"Let’s say that the peace talk would only delay attack for like what? 1? 2 days?"
"ALL OF THEM ARE DEAD SET ON ATTACKING THE DUNGEON!"
"And you? You fucking said you will come up with some plan, yet you freaking didn’t yet."
"They will attack the forest and they won’t wait."
"It will be destroyed."
"And then both of our asses will be on the line." – said the masked adventurer as he walked past Arthur and quickly headed towards his bed and grabbing a suitcase underneath it.
"!?"
"H-hey! The fuck are you doing!?" – asked Arthur as he grabbed the man by his shoulder.
"Asking for a freaking help! That’s what!" – said the masked man as he shrugged off Arthur’s hand.
"But-"
"NO BUTS!" – said the man as he stood up to Arthur.
"We have no time. We have no options."
"We have NOTHING!"
"So the only thing we have left is to report the situation and ask for help!"
"So-"
"?"
The two men suddenly stopped arguing... Before then turning towards the suitcase.
"..."
(Oh shit.... He is contacting us?!) – thought worried Arthur.
Eruption of chaos.
The news about the golem wanting to have a "peaceful conversation" straight up spread like wild fire throughout the entire camp.
The guild master and the party leaders tried suppress the information as much as possible in order to calm, but this task proven straight up impossible to accomplish... And like this, chaos erupted.
The party leaders and the guild master realized that they need to deal with the issue directly.
An issue regarding the meeting.
To go? Or not go?
And so, the guild master called her own voting after the situation in the camp somewhat calmed down and everybody had some time to catch their own breath.
[2 hours later after receiving the "peace talk" invitation.]
"I’ve decided to hold the meeting dungeon master." – said Amelia Smith as a second meeting was held.
"!?"
"Wait, what?!" – shouted the confused and shocked adventurers as well as soldiers.
"Guild master! I’m fully against this decision!" – shouted Randolf as he stood up.
"I agree with the dwarf on this one." – said the giant adventurer.
"The plan is beyond risky."
"It will be just a trap."
"That is it."
"Yes... I’m fully aware of possibility of this being a trap." – replied guild master.
"If anything, the dungeon master shown a level of an intelligence that can hint at the possibility of him aiming to take down the leader, A.K.A, me."
"However at the same time... What if it really wants to talk?"
"I want to destroy the dungeon and hear me out on this."
"I still think we should do it."
"However, this meeting maybe worth it."
"..."
"Oh... I see." – said Randolf.
"You want to take out information out of that guy or trick him into creating opening?"
"If possible, yes." – replied guild master.
"Honestly speaking, this whole idea of a ’meeting’ this thing suggested.... Just makes me more worried."
"So, if the meeting is not a trap, I will try to ’talk’ with this creature and if it possible, I will try to manipulate it for our advantage." – said the guild master as the people gathered began discussing the guild master proposal.
Many people were still against the idea of the meeting, as they knew if something were to happened to the guild master, it could affect the entire operation.... However, at the same time, more people started going on the other side, agreeing with the proposal meeting.
"..."
"If I may." – said Arthur Wirmur as he stood up.
"I know your plan is about getting information from your enemy and possible manipulating them... But what if you also try to form some sort of a deal?"
"Stop! Don’t complain just yet and hear me out!" – said Arthur instantly as the guild master was about to say something.
"This is a form of getting information from the enemy as well."
"For example, if they want something, what they could give in exchange?"
"And what is their trading skills?"
"Information."
"Use the form of making a deal as means of getting information from the dungeon master."
"..."
"This.... Hm.... Actually, this is good idea." – replied Amelia Smith as several other people were agreeing to Arthur’s proposal.
(Honestly, I was planning to lie as much as possible to that thing in order to have only us benefit from the talk.... But if we were to start talking about making "deals", we could probably obtain some critical information about our foe.)
(For example, what if they posses something we are still not wary of? Like a weapon and such? We could make them possible reveal their "hidden weapon’s" existence.)
(This will be the game of manipulation.)
Many people were still fully against the idea of the meeting, but in the end the guild master took decision to attend the meeting.
However beforehand, the guild master made sure that her location was safe.
She ordered the Silver Talons to check the forest.... However-
"There was nothing." – replied the leader of the masked adventurers.
"The only thing there was that golem from before, alongside a 2 chairs and table."
"We checked the entire area, but there was nothing."
"No hidden golems or traps."
"Just nothing."
"Huh...."
"I... Wasn’t expecting that." – said the guild master.
(There was good chance that if the meeting were to "end" in bad way, some sort of assassin would shot my ass with crossbow... But nothing?)
"..."
(Wait... If that is the case... Does that mean the dungeon master is aware of us having ability to go in and out of his forest completely unnoticed?)
"..."
"There is a chance that bastard knows about your presence." – said the guild master.
"..."
"Still... I guess now I have even less reasons to not attend that meeting." - said the guild master as she started heading towards the forest as the sun started slowly setting.
"Hey. You know what do if something were to happened, right?" – asked the guild master as she passed by dwarven adventurer Randolf.
"Yeah, yeah. Just don’t die idiot’s death, okay?" – replied the dwarf.
"Don’t worry... I won’t." – said the guild master as she entered forest and then disappearing amongst the trees.
"..."
(Silver Talons are keeping watch over the area.... But probably so does the dungeon master.) – thought Amelia Smith as she walked through the now weirdly peaceful forest while looking around.
(We still don’t know how dungeon master is able to see things.... We at first thought he could "sense" things, but after the whole mimicking thing, we now know he can "see" instead.)
"..."
(These guys are here and can give me some support if something does pops up, they can fight and stuff beside just scouting.... But I can’t say I’m not nervous.) – thought the guild master as she continues walking through the forest for some time.... Before then arriving at its destination where the golem in question was just waiting for her next to the table.
(It maybe a trap... But at the same time an opportunity.)
(And if it the latter, then I’m not planning on wasting it.)
