Love at First Sight? Mr. Harrison Has Been Scheming All Along-Chapter 15: Leave It to Me
Rory Linden was wearing loungewear. She had a bra on underneath, but the neckline was rather loose.
So she went and got changed.
The previous wound on Sean Harrison’s arm would have definitely split open from such forceful exertion. It needed to be stitched up again.
It was impossible to stitch it at home.
The man had been injured while saving her, so she would definitely have to accompany him to the hospital.
Rory had lived here for over a decade and had never seen Sean stay the night before.
Following behind the man, she finally realized that the large room in the corner of the third floor, which she had assumed was vacant, was actually Sean’s room.
The room was very spacious, yet it contained almost no personal belongings.
"Mr. Harrison, please take off your shirt. I’ll give the wound a quick treatment, and then I’ll go with you to the hospital."
As Rory spoke, she walked to the man’s side.
She could already smell the faint scent of blood in the air.
Sean didn’t move an inch. "No need. Just put the things down and leave."
"Mr. Harrison, there’s no reason to hide an injury from a doctor." Rory bent over and placed the things she was holding on the bench at the foot of the bed. "Or we can go straight to the hospital."
She also put down the two Black Opal cufflinks.
She had picked them up just now.
"No need."
Sean’s well-defined fingers pinched the buttons of his shirt.
As the buttons were undone one by one, the man’s nearly perfect physique was once again gradually revealed.
Since his injury had reopened, taking off the shirt became a difficult task.
"Let me help you."
Rory walked over. Just as she reached out to help him with his shirt, her wrist was grabbed by the man’s left hand.
"Dr. Linden, you can put the things down and leave." 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Sean’s voice was clearly strained with pain.
Rory looked at the man’s right sleeve, which was soaked through with blood, and was suddenly reminded of the first time they met not long ago.
The man had a gruesome scar on his shoulder that stretched down to his back.
’Perhaps he doesn’t want anyone to see his scars.’
"Mr. Harrison, you were injured because of me. In return, I promise I won’t tell anyone about your injury." Fearing he would refuse, Rory added, "Besides, I’ve already seen it before."
’Though I didn’t see everything.’
The hand Sean had gripping Rory’s wrist hesitated slightly before finally letting go. And he didn’t forget to add, "You’re too skinny."
Having gotten his permission, Rory’s fingers gently pinched the edge of his shirt and carefully helped him peel it off.
As for the scars on the man’s back, she had thought her imagination had already painted a fairly accurate picture.
Only after seeing them with her own eyes did she realize how childish her imagination had been.
The man’s back was covered in scars—some deep, some shallow; some thick, some thin.
But one was particularly gruesome, slashing diagonally across his entire back and extending all the way to his shoulder.
Rory gasped in shock.
"They’re ugly, aren’t they?" Sean turned slightly. "Don’t look. I don’t want to frighten you."
"Not at all. I’m a surgeon. I have seen endless blood scenes."
Although Rory said this, her heart still ached for Sean.
These wounds had all healed, but it wasn’t hard to guess how much pain the man must have endured when he received them.
Rory forced herself to remain calm and first examined the wound on his right arm.
Just as she had thought, his right arm had been stitched up before and was nearly healed, but due to the recent forceful exertion, the outermost suture had torn open.
While treating the man’s wound, Rory said, "This injury needs to be stitched again. If you don’t want anyone to see your back, we can go to Elysian Hospital. I’ll find a treatment room and stitch it for you myself. I guarantee that no one else will see."
Sean tilted his head slightly, and his dark eyes softened as he watched the woman beside him carefully treating his wound.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.
A series of urgent knocks shattered the quiet in the room.
Immediately after, Evelyn’s voice came from the door. "Sean, Sean, it’s me. Are you in your room?"
Rory looked at Sean Harrison nervously, and sought for his help.
Her being in his room to help with his wound wasn’t anything shameful.
But Sean Harrison didn’t want anyone to know he was injured.
Her presence here would be difficult to explain.
"It’s fine." Sean raised his hand and patted the top of her head. "Help me get my shirt on. I’ll handle this."
His wound had been temporarily treated, but it was still inconvenient for him to put on a shirt.
Rory quickly helped him put his shirt on.
"Just stay here. Don’t be scared, and don’t hide."
Sean was calm and composed.
He hadn’t said anything remarkable, but his words seemed to hold a magical power that soothed her frantic heart.
Sean opened the door while buttoning his shirt.
"Sean, sorry to disturb your rest." Evelyn’s voice came from outside the door. "I’m sorry, what I said earlier was too harsh."
"Okay."
Sean leaned against the doorframe, and he didn’t sound bothered.
His attitude was clear. If Evelyn was only there to make small talk, she could save her breath.
Soon, Evelyn Irving spoke again. "I’ve been thinking. Since things have come to this, if he must get engaged, he’ll get engaged. If he must get married, he’ll get married. We just need to hire a good lawyer to draw up a prenuptial agreement to protect the Harrington Family’s interests."
"I think that’s fine, but ultimately, this is Miles’ own business."
"He chose to live with that... that Lucy Shaw himself. And now that he’s done something like this, what other choice does he have?" Evelyn sounded heart-broken. "Miles has had it too easy at home all these years. It’s about time he learned a hard lesson."
Sean nodded. "Then let’s proceed as planned. I’ll find the best company to help with the arrangements and ensure next Saturday’s engagement party is a grand affair. As his uncle, I’ll cover all the expenses."
Different families had different definitions for the two words "grand affair."
For a family like the Harringtons, making an engagement party a "grand affair" would cost at least several million, perhaps even tens of millions.
Evelyn made a polite demurral. "But it is Miles’ engagement, after all..."
Sean said, "I hit Miles today. Consider this compensation."
With that back and forth, the matter of the engagement party was settled.
Evelyn felt it would be rude to leave immediately, so she made some small talk. "By the way, I hear you’ve been single all these years. After Miss Willow got married, you haven’t even had a close female friend. If you meet a suitable girl, you should consider settling down soon."
"That’s my own business. I’ll consider it myself. Sister-in-law, you should focus more on Miles. Have him focus on preparing for the engagement party and stop him from harassing people who have nothing to do with him." Sean’s refusal was also tinged with a warning.
As the true head of the Harrington Family, his words carried significant weight.
