Love Command: Darling, Do You Yield?-Chapter 144 - 145: What Are You Hiding from Me? (2)
Iris Harris stood up from the sofa, wanting to bypass him, but Brandan’s hand reached out and grasped her wrist.
She trembled all over, stepped back abruptly, and fell back onto the sofa, looking at Brandan with shock and anger.
Brandan was also startled. He hadn’t expected Iris Harris to have such a strong reaction. He instinctively let go of his hand and saw Iris quickly retract her wrist. Her skin was very pale, and the bruise on her wrist was particularly noticeable, a mark from his irrational grip in anger last night.
He felt his throat gradually tighten, an indescribable bitter feeling slowly rising from the bottom of his throat. Looking at Iris’s pale face, he momentarily forgot what he wanted to say.
"What do you want?"
Iris pressed her lips slightly, her voice somewhat tense. Her eyelashes drooped, and she seemed a bit uneasy.
"Don’t be afraid." Brandan said weakly, "I just want to ask if you’re hurt somewhere?"
Iris’s eyelashes fluttered slightly. She looked up at him: "What?"
"I saw the blood in the bathroom." He looked at her intently, "You were in there so long, what were you doing?"
"..."
Iris lifted her head and looked at him deeply for a moment, then quickly withdrew her gaze.
"I don’t know what you’re talking about."
She stood up from the sofa, circled around him, and walked upstairs.
Brandan followed her, his tone somewhat anxious: "Iris Harris, what’s going on with you?"
Iris kept her head down and continued walking, giving no reply. Brandan couldn’t help but want to grab her.
"Don’t touch me!"
Iris suddenly waved her hand, knocking his fingers away. She bit her lip and glared at Brandan, "Can you just leave me alone? Why do you keep clinging to me when I’m already like this? Brandan Hyde, will you let me go? I’m really tired, I want to rest, please don’t come over, okay?"
"......"
"Iris?"
Lady Hyde heard the commotion and hurried over from outside the door. When she saw the two confronting each other at the staircase, she was startled and quickly came to pull Brandan aside.
"What’s going on?"
Lady Hyde looked at her son with concern.
Why are they arguing again after such a short while?
Iris glanced at Brandan, his face ashen, fingers tightly clenched as if suppressing something.
Indeed, a young master like him being yelled at by someone like her must feel really stifled.
She took a step back and said to Lady Hyde, "Auntie, I’m going upstairs to sleep first. Please tell him not to come looking for me."
She really didn’t have the energy to argue with this person anymore.
She was scared, genuinely afraid of pain, afraid that she might die from his violence before her illness took her.
She could never harm this person; it’s always this person hurting her.
Even now, it’s still the same.
Apart from hurting herself, she couldn’t hurt anyone else.
Perhaps one is born to atone for sins; in her past life, she must have owed him something to end up in his hands, living such a miserable life.
But it doesn’t matter; her life was saved by him in the first place, and now it’s just being returned to him.
Iris cast one last glance at Brandan. He was also looking at her, with deep eyes containing emotions she couldn’t comprehend, making her heart quiver with fear.
Iris didn’t dare to look any longer, fleeing upstairs as if escaping.
