Love Command: Darling, Do You Yield?-Chapter 154 - 155: Complications
Brandan lowered his head and took a step back, leaning against the wall, his back cold and drenched in sweat.
He raised his hand, seeing the bloodstain left by Iris Harris on his palm. Brandan felt as if his head was splitting; he let out a muffled groan, wishing he could just faint.
He didn’t want to face this reality.
It seemed like all hope was lost, that everything was over, the ending arriving before he was ready.
He didn’t want it to be this way.
Not all mistakes can be fixed, he realized this fact, but realized it too late, as if everything was beyond redemption.
Brandan gently furrowed his brow, realizing it wasn’t a headache he was suffering from; it was heartache.
Lady Hyde received the news and hurriedly drove to the hospital. As she reached the surgical ward, she found only Brandan standing there. Under the cold light, she saw her son’s face looking exceptionally pale.
"Brandan, what happened?"
Lady Hyde rushed over, never imagining that Brandan would go to Iris Harris and end up sending her into surgery. She tightly grabbed her son’s arm, sharply questioning, "What did you do to her again, Brandan? How is Iris... When she’s like this, why do you keep doing this to her?"
Lady Hyde questioned angrily, her eyes brimming with tears. She felt immense anger and despair. To what extent does Brandan have to push Iris before he lets her go?
Lady Hyde felt her heart twisting in pain, powerlessly covering her face as she began to cry softly: "Brandan, I beg you... please stop hurting her... it’s all my fault, all my fault... it’s all my fault!" The guilt tormented her relentlessly. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Upon hearing about Iris Harris’s illness, Lady Hyde genuinely wished she could kill herself.
It shouldn’t be her. If their meeting was a mistake, then the retribution should have been on her! She was the one who hid the truth, while Iris Harris was so innocent. She shouldn’t have ended up like this...
"Mom, what’s wrong?"
Brandan sensed something unusual with his mother. He frowned slightly, supporting Lady Hyde’s shoulders, and could only feel her body trembling continuously, her emotions on the verge of collapse.
"Mom, are you okay?" Brandan was also frightened by her pale face as he held his mother’s body, letting her lean into his embrace, "What’s wrong?"
Lady Hyde lay in his arms, looking at Brandan with eyes that seemed deeply hidden with something inside.
"Brandan..." She pressed her lips together and whispered, "Have you ever thought about why Iris..."
Before she could finish, the door to the operating room abruptly opened.
Lady Hyde immediately stopped speaking, pushing Brandan aside and hurriedly asked, "Doctor, is our Iris okay?"
The doctor adjusted his glasses and spoke to Lady Hyde, "It’s a gastric hemorrhage. The bleeding has stopped, but she needs to stay in the hospital for further treatment. Gastric hemorrhage could also be a complication of leukemia. It’s best to remain hospitalized for now."
Lady Hyde, with teary eyes, nodded, watching as Iris Harris was wheeled out of the operating room. She looked at Iris’s pale, bloodless face, tears incessantly streaming down.
The sadness and guilt on her face were heart-wrenching.
Brandan noticed his mother’s expression and gently frowned.
What was she about to ask him earlier?
