Chapter 156: Chapter 157: I Don’t Want to Live Anymore 2

Leaving the attending physician’s office, Brandan’s expression was somewhat bleak.

His leukemia had only been cured a little over three months ago, and he was still in the recovery phase, unable to undergo a white blood cell donation surgery.

He sat quietly alone on a bench by the corridor, looking slightly fatigued.

Lady Hyde stood not far away, observing Brandan’s expression. She gently covered her face and began to sob quietly.

A lifetime’s worth of tears seemed to have dried up recently.

She felt deeply for Iris Harris, but also for Brandan; he was her child, and she had never seen such an expression on his face.

Lady Hyde walked over and gently sat beside Brandan, pulling his face into her bosom.

"Brandan..."

She closed her eyes, allowing the tears to slide from the corners.

They had all made mistakes, sins unforgivable.

She just didn’t understand why Heaven must take revenge on Iris Harris.

She knew nothing...

How innocent she was!

When Iris Harris awoke, the sky had already darkened.

After losing a lot of blood recently, and vomiting blood today, she felt extremely dizzy. She opened her eyes and stared blankly at the ceiling for a long time before slowly regaining her senses and realizing where she was.

With an IV in her hand, the transparent liquid flowed slowly into her veins. Iris Harris closed her eyes for a moment, gathered some strength, sat up from the bed, pulled out the IV, and lifted the quilt to get out of bed.

"Are you leaving again?"

A male voice suddenly sounded not far away.

Iris Harris was momentarily stunned, instinctively raising her head to look toward the voice, only to see Brandan’s face.

He stood with his arms crossed, his tall figure leaning silently against the wall, a small patch of shadow covering him, which was why she hadn’t noticed him earlier.

Iris Harris knew she couldn’t leave with him there, so she lowered her eyes and said coldly, "I don’t want to be hospitalized."

"You’re sick."

"And whose fault is that?" Iris Harris raised her voice slightly.

"..."

Brandan said nothing, and after a moment, he sighed softly, stepped out of the shadows, and walked over to her, looking at her.

"I will save you."

Those deep black eyes of his looked at her with great determination, "I will definitely cure you. Iris Harris, believe me."

"Did you find a matching marrow?"

Iris Harris asked.

Brandan’s eyes dimmed slightly. Iris Harris saw his expression and a hint of sarcasm tugged at the corners of her mouth.

"That’s why I said it’s incurable." She got off the bed. "Rather than waiting to die here, I’d rather leave."

"..."

"Don’t waste your time anymore." Iris Harris looked at him calmly. "You couldn’t find a matching marrow despite all your efforts, and now that it’s come to me, it’s the same."

With all the Hyde Residence resources at their disposal, they couldn’t find a matching marrow for Brandan. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have had to resort to marrying her for his treatment.

When she found out she was ill, she knew she wouldn’t be able to survive.

Those people must have made complete preparations, which is why they were so confident in locking her away before leaving.

They never intended for her to survive anyway.

"Now, please step aside."

Iris Harris looked at Brandan, who was blocking her way. "From now on, everything about me has nothing to do with you. Please stop concerning yourself with me."

She turned sideways to leave, but Brandan grabbed her.

She looked down at her wrist held in his grip, a few unnamed emotions flickering in her eyes, and after a long time, she softly asked, "Brandan, even if I’m going to die, won’t you let me go?"
