Love Command: Darling, Do You Yield?-Chapter 158 - 159: Better a Short Pain than a Long One
Lady Hyde came in from outside and saw Brandan tightly holding Iris Harris.
She was startled, hurriedly went over to separate them, and protected Iris behind her, glaring at Brandan like a mother hen protecting her chick.
Brandan looked at his mother’s actions, incredulously calling out to her, "Mom?!"
"You clearly promised me you wouldn’t bully Iris anymore, and now what are you doing?!"
Lady Hyde’s voice trembled with anger.
Brandan retorted angrily, "When did I bully her again?"
To be honest, it was clearly she who bullied him!
"Then just now, you two..."
Lady Hyde turned to scrutinize Iris Harris, and once she saw Iris was fine, she breathed a sigh of relief and gathered her into her arms. She issued an order to Brandan, "You go out first!"
Brandan was furious, glancing at Iris Harris and then at Lady Hyde, before reluctantly walking away.
Once Brandan left, Lady Hyde helped Iris back to the bed, putting a pillow under her waist and carefully covering her with a quilt.
While doing these things, she said to Iris, "Iris, take care of yourself and recover. Brandan has already started handling the bone marrow issue. Don’t worry, we’ll definitely find a matching marrow. Don’t be afraid."

Iris slightly moved her lips, about to refuse, but looking at Lady Hyde’s red, moist eyes, she couldn’t bring herself to say it.
She could say no to Brandan, but she couldn’t bear to say no to Lady Hyde.
In this world, besides William Moore, only Lady Hyde treated her well.
When one receives very little, they cherish it doubly; she couldn’t bear to make those who treat her well feel sad.
Lowering her eyes slightly, Iris sighed softly from her heart, then nodded: "Mm."
Seeing her agree, Lady Hyde suddenly sobbed and bent down to gently hug her.
"Silly child..." she muttered, "With something like this happening, why didn’t you tell me? No matter how useless auntie might be, unable to help much, I would try everything to save you!"
Listening to her words, Iris felt warmth in her eyes; she truly treated her very well, though Iris might not be able to repay this goodwill.
"I just..." Iris sighed softly, "Didn’t want Auntie to be sad."
If the plan had gone smoothly, she would have already been far away in another country; even if she died, Lady Hyde would not know. For Lady Hyde, Iris would just be living somewhere in the world.
She knew she was beyond help now; being an orphan without siblings, finding a matching marrow was incredibly difficult.
Even with medical advancements like these, some terminal illnesses are just that — terminal.
She accepted it calmly.
She just hadn’t expected Brandan to suddenly be so persistent, even wanting to imprison her in this city, totally unexpected.
Iris sighed softly, a trace of melancholy slowly emerging from her heart.
Sure enough, someone as insignificant as her wouldn’t be allowed by fate to follow her desires; even dying depends on others’ wishes.
Listening to Iris’s words, Lady Hyde cried even more intensely.
She held her tightly, asking through sobs, "Knowing about your death, won’t I still feel sad?"
Iris chuckled softly, responding very calmly, "Auntie, long-term pain is worse than short-term pain."
