Love You Till the End-Chapter 1019 - 1018: My Mother Really Likes That Brand
The early August temperature felt like a steamer, quite hot and stuffy.
There was a coffee shop at the corner of the street, featuring a retro style.
Sunlight passed through the dense leaves and poured onto the floor-to-ceiling window of the spacious café, through the glass and onto the white table corner.
A man in a black shirt sat at the table, his eyes attentively browsing the book in his hands. His bronze skin glowed with a layer of gold in the sunlight, and his handsome, heroic profile was strikingly defined.
The unique aura of nobility and cool detachment he exuded was completely out of place with the hot and noisy summer, like a painting locked in a cabinet, unaffected by the world—not dazzling, yet impossible to look away from.
His fingers lazily flipped the page, his pitch-black eyes scrutinizing the inked text, his brows slightly furrowed.
"Hello, Young Master Jue, I’m Bai Ya."
A woman dressed in professional attire sat down in front of him, introducing herself with a smile, her hand tightly clenching the bag resting on her knees.
Upon hearing this, Shi Aoju lifted his head, his brows slightly relaxed upon seeing her, but his face maintained its previous expressionless coldness, keeping her at a thousand miles away.
An invisible pressure emerged naturally.
"Hello." He nodded politely towards her, closing the book in his hand and placing it aside.
Bai Ya glanced at the cover as he moved.
It was a poetry collection by Hai Zi—she hadn’t expected such a merchant to read such artistic books.
At this moment, the waiter came over and handed the menu to Bai Ya, and she politely accepted it, saying "Thank you."
"Miss Bai, feel free to order whatever you like." Shi Aoju said indifferently from across the table.
Bai Ya didn’t like coffee with a peculiar taste; she always had a fondness for one type: "A latte coffee is fine."
Ever since the waiter served the coffee, Shi Aoju had been continuously stirring it with a silver spoon, remaining silent.
Bai Ya stared blankly at his cup, where the coffee foam in the center turned into a whirlpool shape with his movements.
Despite the air-conditioning being on, she felt sweat covering her back, and her hand trembled with nerves, trying to organize her words yet not knowing how to begin.
She looked down at the rim of her coffee cup, faintly sensing his gaze analyzing her briefly before moving away.
Shi Aoju had a maturity unlike others his age; his gestures were calm and steady, with eyes pitch-black and dim, like an elder who had seen through worldly affairs, unfathomable.
Bai Ya pursed her lips, the suffocating quiet filling the air making her throat tighten, restless in her seat. She thought for a moment, eventually breaking the silence: "So..."
She lifted her head, and Shi Aoju, too, focused his gaze on her face because of her voice. Their eyes met, making her increasingly nervous.
"I wonder what Young Master Jue wants from me today?"
Seeing Bai Ya’s full face of confusion, Shi Aoju set the spoon onto the porcelain plate beneath the cup, explaining, "I’ve heard of the Xiro brand founded by Miss Bai, and my mother is very fond of that brand."
"My mother has lived abroad for many years. She is coming back to stay for a while. I hope to give her a unique gift when she returns." Shi Aoju took a sip from his coffee cup, moved it away, and his gaze locked directly onto Bai Ya.
