Lucky Spin: Godly Programming-Chapter 50: Cosmic Rule
Chapter 50: Chapter 50: Cosmic Rule
What he heard was none other than the system itself, making him stop for a moment.
[Lucky Spin System]
[2 days has passed. One spin has been given to the host.]
(Do you want to spin?)
[Yes] or [No]
"Huh, 2 days?" he uttered in confusion.
"The system must be broken since it always says a day has passed, does it need some debugging?" Jeff thought to himself.
[The system is not broken. This is one of its functions.]
[If a daily spin is not used, it will be converted into 1 point.]
[That 1 point will be converted into 1 percent luck, so the more points you keep, the greater the rewards will be.]
[The only reason you obtained those skills is because of your luck, which is a bit extraordinary.]
"Extraordinary? What do you mean by that?" Jeff asked, not knowing what kind of extraordinary the system meant.
[The extraordinary part I’m talking about is your luck, which is connected to your soul. Most souls are faint, unstable, or incomplete, but yours? Yours burns like a star.]
"Burns like a star? How could that possibly be?" Jeff said in shock.
[Yes. It warps the odds around you without conscious effort. Events shift outcomes and bend reality, even though subtle but it leans in your favor.]
"Are you serious and not messing with me, system?" Jeff said with a narrow gaze.
[The system is serious, host] - it replied in a nonchalant voice.
"Yeah, too much for being serious," Jeff said with a chuckle.
[Another point is that your soul is the strongest I’ve ever scanned. It’s beyond logic and beyond calculation. That’s why the system had no choice but to awaken.]
"No choice but to awaken? What do you mean by that?" Jeff asked, feeling like everything was becoming mysterious all of a sudden.
[Well, it’s because I was supposed to awaken when you turned 20 or above. I’ve been dormant in your body since you were a child, gathering energy from your soul]
[But all of a sudden, your soul became incredibly powerful, which was completely unpredictable. Events like that are usually impossible. Because of that, I’m full]
Hearing this, Jeff stood up in shock. Since he was a child? The system had actually been with him all along.
"When I was a child? Like before I was transmigrated, you were with me?" Jeff asked, no longer knowing what was going on anymore.
[What do you mean before transmigrated? I was with you since you were a child, gathering energy. There’s no such thing as transmigration.]
Hearing this, Jeff stood there dumbfoundedly. The system wasn’t something he gained after transmigrating? it had always been his, but from a different life and that is the real Jeff.
"So, you’re not my golden finger from when I transmigrated, but from the other me in this multiverse?" Jeff asked.
[Transmigrated? Other you? Are you referring to yourself?] - the system asked.
"Yes, I’m referring to myself. You said you’ve been with me since I was a child, but when I told you I transmigrated, you didn’t seem to know, which honestly shocked me," Jeff responded.
[So you’re a different person who has the same identity as my real host, and you’re kind of inside him like in those anime shows, is that what you’re trying to say? This doesn’t make sense.]
"What do you mean it doesn’t make sense? Your existence doesn’t make sense either if we put it in realistic terms," Jeff growled inwardly.
"Why would you say that?" Jeff inquired.
[Well, this kind of stuff is not possible. A soul traversing to another multiverse isn’t logical or allowed.]
"How so? In novels, powerful cultivators and other characters die and end up getting isekai’d or even reincarnated into fantasy worlds," Jeff said.
[That’s just fiction. In reality, things like that aren’t possible because the cosmic rules don’t allow it.]
"Cosmic... Rule?" Jeff uttered, his expression blank with confusion.
[Yes. The cosmic rule is the golden law across the entire multiverse. When a living entity dies, reincarnation, transmigration, and soul traversal are not allowed. If these conditions were permitted, the balance would be broken,] - the system explained.
"There’s such a thing, then how did a situation like this happen to me?" Jeff said, feeling dizzy from realizing that his very existence might not be allowed.
[Well, that’s exactly what I’m trying to figure out too. What happened to you isn’t possession, if it were, my defense mechanisms would have been triggered.]
Jeff, hearing this, took a deep breath to calm himself, "So what would happen if the cosmic rule found out about this?" he asked, sweat pouring down his face.
[Erasure] - the system replied in a single word.
"You mean... erased? I’ll be erased? Like completely deleted from this world?" Jeff said with a terrified look, stepping back until he fell to the floor, landing on his butt.
"Owwn," he groaned.
[Yes. Erasure but not just you, but every version of you across all timelines and the entire multiverse where you exist will be included.]
"This... this... then I’m also at fault for dragging the other me into this," Jeff said, his voice heavy with guilt.
[Yes, that seems to be the case. But I think you have nothing to fear right now, since the cosmic rule already knows this has happened]
The system comforted, but its tone still nonchalant.
"How can you say that?" Jeff asked, his voice trembling, fear still lingering at the thought of being erased.
[Well, your existence was already known the moment you transmigrated.]
"What do you mean by that? If it already knows, then why am I still alive? Don’t tell me..." His gaze looked at system deeply.
"You’re the cosmic rule?" Jeff said, pointing at the system panel with a frightened look.
[No, I’m not]
[If I were the cosmic rule, I wouldn’t need to gather energy from your soul. As for my existence, it’s already allowed, just like others like me. We were given permission.]
Jeff was stunned. He had always thought his system was unique, but now he realized it wasn’t.
"Then where are the others?" Jeff asked, his curiosity rising.
[They are not here. Even though we are allowed to exist, we have strict restrictions. Each of us can only stay in one multiverse. If we are discovered crossing boundaries, we will be punished, and that punishment is erasure.]
"Are there millions of you as well?" Jeff asked, feeling overwhelmed.
[No. If I remember correctly, there are only ten of us, each with a different way of helping one specific host.]
"That’s amazing... but wait," Jeff said, shaking his head.
"You still didn’t answer my question. Why am I allowed to exist? And how could it have already known about this?" he asked, bringing back the question that had been left unanswered.
[Well, that’s because the Cosmic Rule is also known as the Divine Attribute]
"What’s that?" he asked, his face filled with confusion.
[It means the Four Omnis: Omniscient, Omnipotent, Omnipresent, and Omnibenevolent]
"That powerful?" Jeff muttered as he stood up from where he had fallen earlier.
"Then... it must already be listening to our conversation." he shuddered as he spread his gaze in the room.
[Yes. Even if you hide at the ends of the earth or the farthest reaches of the universe, it’s still there. And you should be grateful for the cosmic rule didn’t erase you. Your existence is already a special case. Also, once your soul fully merges with the original body, you’ll become something far more amazing] - the system said.
"Amazing? Why is that? Also... I want to ask. Is the real me dead? Did I kill him?" Jeff asked, his heart aching at the thought.
[Well, your soul is just normal, and the soul of my real host wasn’t anything special either. But when two souls combine, they create a new soul, something entirely different. I don’t fully understand what it will become, but it must be something amazing. From my estimation, it will take about a month for the fusion to complete.]
[Also, I don’t know if my real host was killed, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Do you have his memories?]
"Yes, I’ve absorbed it, but I can only remember things from about two years ago," Jeff responded.
[Then that’s good. Your soul must have merged with my real host. That means you’re still the same person. You didn’t kill anyone, it’s just you and the real host are becoming one. So, there’s really nothing to feel sad or burdened about.]
Hearing this, Jeff sighed in relief and smiled, feeling comforted by the news that he hadn’t killed his other self just to survive.
After all, dying from fapping only to end up taking someone else’s life would’ve been the most ridiculous and cruel twist of fate.
"This is the first time I’ve seen you so talkative, system," Jeff said with a chuckle.
[That’s because it drains a lot of energy. The only reason I can do this right now is because your soul can completely replenish the energy I lose.]
[Also, this will be the last time we’ll have this kind of conversation. Since conserving energy is written into my core. Now, back to the topic.]
(Do you want to spin?)
[Yes] or [No]
"No," He uttered it, hoping to increase the chances of getting godly rewards.
Then the system disappeared, leaving Jeff alone as he continued his work. His mind was wrapped in a tangle of questions that demanded answers.
But instead of dwelling on them, he chose to pour everything into his work, hoping to focus and forget about it all, at least for now.
