Leo tried to suppress another rising groan and a headache. "Why did it increase by one?" Just as he had done many times, he asked the question of Legacy abilities had manuals and or every other legacy bearer had to deal with the same nonsense.
If he thought about it, the inheritance ability had only advanced by one which begged the question of how. He wondered if he reached hundred, would he enter the second level. If so then what would the second level of the battle art be, having a battle art that increased in levels was already a great boon.
After a few minutes of long hard thought he finally came up with a reasonable explanation. He concluded that the inheritance ability had advanced due to the fact that he had defeated Hinata using the battle art. Did that then mean it would only reach the next level of he used the battle style to beat ninety nine more people.
"Curses, this makes no sense. Why would I use the same battle style on a hundred people. Wonβt it get overly repetitive after the first ten or so?" He asked himself. "This is gonna take a while."
He tried to relax himself before allowing his eyes to fall to the lucky roulette coupon. "Now what does this do?"
Another screen popped up with a question.
[Do you wish to use the lucky roulette coupon?]
Leo prepared himself for whatever would happen in the next few seconds and gave the command. "Yes."
A huge silver wheel materialised before him with several strange images inscribed on them as well as question marks.
Some of the images inscribed on the wheel were potions, weapons ranging from swords to shields and also a strange assortment of items that looked like handkerchiefs.
Leo only had to wait for a few seconds before he watched the wheel started to spin. Itβs motions started slowly before becoming a blur and slowing down several seconds later with the wolfβs head pointing towards a question mark.
"So do I get an item now?" He asked as he waited patiently.
The sound of a trumpet sounded for a few seconds before the dark question mark fizzled out to reveal the image of a huge wolf, with silver white fur and dark eyes. Itβs frame looked massive and ferocious.
"Whatβs this?" Leo asked as he heard the chime and watched the wheel disintegrate into thin air.
Another message materialised shortly after along with a few words that made his jaw drop.
[You have been rewarded with companion]
Companions were basically beast mounts one could utilise on the field of battle. Capable awakened with enough money could buy one, and those with sufficient power would have a chance of getting on from slaying a strong beast.
While having a companion was a good thing it still left a lot to be desired. Some companions were useful in battles as attacking type beasts, others were more useful as assist type beasts.
Leoβs joy was however interrupted by the loud banging on the door followed by it swinging open and a figure strolling into his room. "Hey schmuck, the foods getting cold. Iβd eat your share but thereβs plenty to go round."
Leo rolled his eyes. "Curses, what are you still doing here Roxy?"
She smiled and said. "Helping out, what does it look like. Your little sister is a ray of absolute sunshine and youβre justβ you."
She then stopped making Leo thing she had gotten the dark glance he shot at her but what she said next caused him to gasp. "Are you naked under that sheet, you schmuck. Donβt tell me you were going under there, that would explain why youβre out of breath and sweating like a mad dog."
Leo froze for a moment, left utterly speechless before tossing his pillow right at her. "What, no! Get out of here before I kill you."
Roxy slid to the side sharply, evading the pillow like it was an infected item. She giggled for a bit and said. "Itβs no shame really, many people do it. But then again it is a shame when you get caught, I really am ashamed that little angels has a sex crazed lunatic as you for a brother."
Leo was unable to hold his rage anymore, he rolled out of his bed and chased after her. "When I get my hands on you, Iβll make you regret it."
Roxy giggled again as she threw her head back with a smile. "Oh my, is he attempting to finish it off with me. Iβm sorry but I donβt like it when guys come off too hard at me."
"What are you, crazy?" He screamed as he chased her down the stairs to the dining room where the table was already set with his father and sister waiting there for them. Seeing this he immediately composed himself. He could see the slight smirk on his fatherβs face that caused him to shudder.
Trish looked at him and screamed. "Finally you got Nardo to come down, I was having to wait foreeeever."
Leo smiled at the sight of his little sister. Unfortunately this quiet moment was also interrupted by the loud snort that came from Roxy before she burst into laughter. "Whatβs your problem now?"
"I can decided which is more fun, schmuck or Nardo." She laughed hysterically as she took her seat. "Hello Mr Nardo might I pour you a cup of tea."
Everyone in the room found the strings of insults throws at Leo amusing, well-- all except for him. What infuriated him was how she was able to maneuver a joke about something totally unrelated to him and make it land.
He silently cursed at her so much that the air around him only grew cold. He was only saved by the sound of knocking on the door.
"Now who could that be?" Jonas asked.
"Iβll handle it dad, must be the neighbours." Leo pushed his chair back and rose to his feet.
Roxy had to give him one last taunt as he left. "Donβt trip over your own feet Nardo."
Leo reached the door and opened it, his eyes widened in shock to see an
old acquaintance standing here.
"Hello Leonardo, I can see youβre somehow alive."
