Lunar Legacy: Rise Of The Beastlord-Chapter 72: Clash of Titans
Chapter 72: Clash of Titans
The ground trembled.
Not from footsteps. Not from beasts.
But from pressure.
Two powers now stood face to face: one born of rage, forged in blood, wearing the pelt of a beast... The other, ancient and unyielding, a queen of frost and fang, wreathed in the chill of winter’s heart.
The colosseum was silent. Even the wind dared not blow.
Jayden growled low, breath steaming, muscles flexing as golden eyes locked onto hers.
The Winter Wolf tilted her head slightly. No growl. No sound. Just a slow, deliberate blink.
Then she raised her paw.
And all hell broke loose.
FWOOOOM—!!!
A jagged ice spear the size of a harpoon materialized mid-air and shot toward Jayden like lightning wrapped in frost.
He dodged.
WHOOSH
The spear stabbed into the ground where he stood, detonating in a violent explosion of ice shards that screamed outward like glass shrapnel.
Jayden leapt back, spinning midair.
The Winter wolf sent another spear. Then three. Then seven.
She conjured them from nothing—spatial frost forged in the blink of an eye. Each one aimed precisely. Each one a fatal blow.
Jayden blurred into motion, legs pumping as he sprinted and flipped between the incoming death hail. One grazed his thigh, slicing cleanly through muscle.
[-5 Hp]
He gritted his teeth, but kept moving.
"She’s faster than before..."!he thought, sweat freezing against his temples. "But if I can just close the gap."
He roared, beast aura flaring, and launched himself toward her in a blinding burst of speed.
She didn’t flinch.
Instead, her paw shimmered.
Then...
BOOM—!
A sudden geyser of ice erupted beneath his feet. Large shards of ice emerging from the ground.
Jayden’s eyes widened as the spikes speared up to impale him... but he was fast enough, already spinning sideways in the air.
"Not today!" he gritted his teeth.
He caught himself mid-flip and landed sideways on a tree trunk, claws digging in. Using the momentum, he pushed off again—his body a blur of fur and fury.
He was close now. Close to reaching the Winter wolf.
But then.. the air around her dropped to absolute zero.
CRACK—!
The snow beneath her erupted into sharp-edged tendrils of black ice, slithering toward him like sentient serpents. They coiled around his legs, trying to freeze him in place.
"Crap!"
Jayden quickly summoned his telekinesis in a wild surgee, hurling the ice coils back and buying him inches.
Then he lunged at her. Claws out. Snarling.
But the Winter Wolf vanished in a blink of frost.
SHHHF—
She reappeared ten meters away, untouched. Elegant. Deadly. Behind her, a towering spiral of ice began forming.
Jayden skidded to a halt, panting.
"...Oh no." he gulped, and quickly tried to retreat. But he was too late.
AWOOOO—!!
She howled.
And instantly, the ice spiral exploded—showering the sky with hundreds of crystalline daggers. The world turned white-blue. It was a storm. No—a blizzard made of knives.
Jayden roared and raised his arms, crossing them. His telekinesis flared around him, shielding most of the damage, but dozens of shards still pierced his body.
[-20 Hp]
[-15 Hp]
[-10 Hp]
[...]
The messages kept rushing in, notifying Jayden of his pending doom.
The shards kept pouring down like rain, piercing and grazing Jayden in various places.
Blood sprayed. His clothes shredded. He dropped to a knee.
But when the storm cleared... he was gone.
The Winter Wolf blinked. A flicker of curiosity.
Then—
SWISH!
Jayden struck from behind.
His claws tore across her flank—a clean hit. Ice splintered off her fur like armor being torn away. She had coated her skin with ice before the fight began.
And even with the body armor, Jayden’s claws still managed to graze her a little.
But she didn’t cry out. Instead, she retaliated with blinding speed, spinning and slamming a frozen paw into his side.
CRACK—!
Jayden flew across the clearing, smashing into a boulder and leaving a crater.
"Ughhh—damn it..." he spat, blood staining the snow.
[You’re pushing too hard, Jayden! You need to outthink her!] Luna stated.
"I’m trying," he growled, climbing back up. "But she’s like a ghost. A snowstorm that hits back."
Then he looked up. And she was already sending another attack his way.
But this time... it was her.
Her body blurred as she darted forward, weaving between trees and pillars of ice. She was close now. For the first time—she was closing the distance.
Jayden narrowed his eyes. "Here goes.."
He clenched his fist and prepared to counter. But then...
SWOOSH!
She disappeared mid-charge, leaving Jayden stunned and uneasy.
Then she reappeared above him unexpectedly. Her paw raised.
SHOOOH
Ice formed above Jayden in an instant... a glacial hammer, big as a car.
Jayden’s eyes widened. "Shi—"
BOOOOOOOM!!!
The hammer came down like a meteor, flattening everything. The shockwave knocked back the front row of beasts. Trees cracked. Ice shot up in jagged spikes.
Silence.
The hammer dissipated to reveal a huge crater...
But the crater was empty.
Then unexpectedly, a shadow appeared behind her.
Jayden.
"SURPRISE." he smirked, both hands raised, and ready to strike.
SLASH!!
He landed a brutal double-clawed slash across her back, this time deeper, tearing through the glacier armor and freezing flesh.
She yelped and spun, jaws snapping—
But he ducked, planted his feet, and unleashed a beast-enhanced uppercut to her jaw.
THOOM!
The Winter Wolf flew back, hit a pillar of ice—and shattered it behind her.
Jayden landed on his feet, panting.
"...Not so invincible now, are you?"
But as the dust settled—
She stood.
Wounded. Bleeding. But her eyes burned brighter than ever with an unspoken vow:
"This only ends when one of us stops breathing."
Then, they both moved at once, charging towards each other in a frenzy.
A frozen spiral surged toward Jayden.
He answered with a wave of telekinesis, crushing it mid-air.
But the Winter wolf wasn’t done, she conjured five spears, and sent them in a wide arc.
Jayden flipped and twisted... dodging two, and redirecting three into the trees.
Then he charged towards her.
But she vanished again. And reappeared behind him, her claws aiming for his head.
But Jayden had anticipated this, he spun midair and stretched out his fist.
BOOM!!
Their blows collided in a burst of aura and frost.
They fought like twin comets, smashing and striking through the battlefield—breaking ice, trees, boulders, bones.
They were evenly matched.
And neither of them would give up so easily.
They couldn’t.
One carried the weight of vengeance for her fallen comrades, her pack. Her family. While the other fought for the safety of his own family.
It was a fight that wouldn’t end so soon. Because both parties had something far greater than any form of power.
Will.
