Two days later Alaric sat on the plane heading home. The vacation he had hoped for had been nothing but a rollercoaster of dungeon hunting alone , he had only managed to sneak out and go for a walk around the beach once before they could leave.

At least he saw the sunset.

" We should really do this more often," John said turning to Alaric," Alaric I’m telling you we make a good team just join our guild okay you got more skill cards just from this trip you can see the benefits right? "

" You just can’t stop can you?" Alaric said. John had not stopped trying to recruit him despite all his refusal.

" You’ve been rejected enough can you stop you’re almost begging," Snowy said sharply.

" Can’t help it, he’s a talent," John answered dismissively.

Alaric closed his eyes hoping to tune out all the talking. He was tired and homesick. He had been excited to leave but now he was more excited to go back to his comfort zone.

" I can’t wait to get home," Ruby said her voice loud in the now quite lobby.

"Me too," Alaric said agreeing with her. He was mentally counting down the minutes. He knew they were almost landing.

" You really love your home right. You’ve been singing about it since yesterday," John said.

" Of course who wouldn’t. It’s where I belong," Alaric said nostalgic.

" I can’t argue with that."

" You can all come and visit me. I hope you can promote my business," he said seriously.

" Sure, we’ve been a team so of course I’ll support you. What’s your business about?" John said.

" It’s in hospitality," Alaric said vaguely with a smile," it’s still new so your support will mean the world to me. "

" I’ll come, " snowy said. The others nodded.

" I wouldn’t advise that if you’re weak at heart, " Sacrat cut through the warm atmosphere.

Alaric turned to sacrat and glared at him.

" What do you mean by that?" Snowy asked.

" He’s just joking. It’s just the location ,that’s all it’s pretty isolated, " Alaric said.

" Ooh that’s all ,you really have too many demand Sacrat, " John said.

Sacrat sighed.

" That’s not it I’ve been there so I’m giving you a very honest warning but you do you I’m not going to interfere. The place is a very good place to go and rest, " 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

Alaric nodded after the compliment. They did take him through the wringer these past few days what he was doing was harmless or a bit of false advertising ,just a small detail removed.

The pilot announced their landing and everyone went quite as they eagerly tied their seat belts.

Alaric felt all the fatigue and tension release as the cab pulled into the brothel parking spot. He got out of the car and looked around in nostalgia.

The place looked a bit unfamiliar since he had never left the brothel for such a long time . The evening sun casted a magnificent orange glow on the huge mansion and garden.

The flowers were in full bloom busy absorbing their last sunlight before the sun disappeared.

" Welcome home," he turned towards James who had been waiting for him. He had informed him of his return while at the airport.

" Thank you, it’s good to be back." He felt like pulling James into a hug.

" So I don’t want to be the barer of bad news but we have a problem. We were able to buy time until you got back, " James said while pulling his suitcase as they walked towards the main door.

" You should have called me!" Alaric stopped and turned to look at him.

" I knew you will be arriving today."

" You should still call me even for the smallest reason. If you can’t reach me then I’m inside a dungeon. Call me again a few hours later."

" Yes, I apologize."

" It’s okay, if it was really that bad I know you would have called me. "

Alaric sighed there was no need to end the day in a bad note.

" So what’s this issue?"

"It’s one of the clients he’s adamant on leaving with one of the girls. He’s been a handful."

Alaric pushed the mansion door open and walked in with James following behind him.

" Ooh really, has he hurt anyone?" Alaric asked.

"Not really more of a temper tantrum since he has been waiting for you since yesterday night."

" At least he’s not aggressive, I don’t have to kill another one."

James at the back nodded and swallowed. The image of the last victim coming to his mind.

" So who’s the..."

" He’s here," a female voice shouted cutting him off.

It was woman with dark green hair and black eyes. She looked at him eagerly as Alaric approached. Alaric recognized her right away. She was one of his girls.

She had been one of the first batch of prostitutes he had employed. She was quiet most of the time but he knew she was among the famous ones because of her looks. She was also the quietest of all his workers.

During her interview she had been forthright about having debts left behind by her runaway mother and had lost her job at her last brothel when the madams son fell in love with her and tried to forcefully marry her.

She had taken all the blame for her man’s philandering and got kicked out penniless. That had been how she saw the wanted ad and came for the interview .

Alaric had paid all her debts since he didn’t want loan sharks knocking on his door all the time and he liked her straight forwardness . The contract of everyone working in the brothel is valid for ten years before any renewal.

" It’s her, the client wants her," James whispered behind him. Alaric nodded.

" Queen how have you been?" Alaric greeted her cheerfully.

" I’ve been doing fine," she said quietly avoiding his eyes.

" You really can’t stop surprising me can you?"

She didn’t answer she just looked at the floor.

" Are you the owner?" A male voice said from his side. On the sofa just a few steps from the entrance sat a man.

He was short, had a small beer belly but he wasn’t bad looking but not good looking either, just average.

Alaric glanced at the extremely beautiful Queen who was looking at the man fondly then at the man who was also looking at Queen fondly.

She really doesn’t know what to pick them, Alaric thought .

" That’s me," Alaric said and walked towards the man. The man stood up and extended his hand to him.

Alaric shook his hand with a forced smile.

" Queen has only praises for you, I wanted to see what kind of man you are?"

Alaric looked down at the man and chuckled. Since Alaric was much taller the man only reached his chest.

" That’s good to hear, let’s take a seat," Alaric said. The man sat down and Alaric sat down opposite him.

He looked around the brothel to see half of the people just paying attention to their conversation. He considered going to another room but decided against it .

If the situation was bad or good it might act as a warning to most of the patrons. He knew all his workers were goodlooking starting from prostitutes to the waiters.

" So what can I do for? I’ve been told you were looking for me?"

The man turned and looked at queen who came and sat next to him.

" I wanted to ask if you could give Queen to me, I’ll take care of her and love her with all my heart."

The man turned and looked at Queen with a smile on his face.

" Queen, are you serious about this?" Alaric asked. He wanted to fully confirm.

" Yes, I love him a lot," she answered her face flushing red.

Alaric looked at the two of them and forced a smile. He wasn’t happy about loosing her, she was one of his top earners and here she was falling in love with some mid looking guy .

He wasn’t looking down on the guy , he had also been mid looking guy in his past life but without the beer belly.

Queen was just so beautiful and he had invested a lot on her and here she is jumping ship with the first man who says I want to marry you. She had rejected the other one but here she was going with the next one.

He wasn’t going to stop her. She looked genuinely happy, plus the man seemed to like her a lot.

" You know you have breeched the contract right?" Alaric asked leaning forward and looking at them seriously.

Queen nodded.

" I’ll pay the penalties," the man said .

" Did you tell him the amount he needs to pay?" Alaric asked Queen.

" I did." She nodded.

" Can you bring her contract here?" He turned and said to James loud enough for most of the people to hear.

James nodded and left.
