Machina Arcanis: Two Worlds Collided-Chapter 74: Final Blow I
Chapter 74 - Final Blow I
At the city centre, Aurum Specter raised his metal foot, preparing to stomp on the limbless torso of what was once Rhok's Armatus suit. His laughter echoed through the air, revelling in his victory over another Gold Knight.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Metal clashed, sending sparks flying.
"Uh!" Rhok grunted as his cockpit shook violently.
"I never thought I'd see this day! I've finally prevailed against you, Rhok Wagner — the deadliest Gold Knight of the 101st Division!"
"Ugh! Kill me already, you bloody lunatic!" Rhok roared, his teeth grinding in fury.
Aurum loomed over him, his expression tinged with pity. "I know you barbarian don't appreciate such courtesy..." He exhaled, then smirked. "But Sir Gold Knight Rhok Wagner, do you have any last words?" His tone was smooth and regal.
The green Armatus aimed its cannon at Rhok's chest, the glowing nozzle humming as it charged.
Rhok exhaled slowly, his face relaxing. He closed his eyes. "Maris... Tani... Altric... Elfa... I'll join you all soon..." He murmured as the energy hum grew louder.
Suddenly, a figure plummeted from above at terminal velocity.
"What the—?!" Aurum yanked his mobile suit away in shock.
Slash!
A golden arc boot carved through his cannon, narrowly missing the hall. If he hadn't moved, he would have perished.
Aurum dashed back fifty metres, scanning the battlefield. A bunny Wildren stood unfazed before him.
Lupus positioned between Rhok and Aurum, her silver hair swaying in the wind. Then, in an instant, she surged forward, closing the distance between her and the titan.
"How rude of you to arrive unannounced, you silly beast!" Aurum tilted his head, tightening his grip on his ionised blade. His eyes flickered upward, noticing a surge of energy.
"Another Armatus?! Does this mean... my entire fleet has been wiped out?!" He murmured in rising panic.
"Rhok! Get out of the Armatus! We'll draw his fire!" Jack's voice crackled through the comms.
Rhok gritted his teeth, unbuckling himself and overriding the hatch. The door jammed.
"Ah!" He groaned, metal hands ripping the metal sheet open with his enhanced strength before boosting himself out of the cockpit.
On the ground, Lupus dashed forward at supernatural speed, her arc boots glowing with raw arcane energy.
Meanwhile, above Aurum's suit, Jack dove in, his ionised blade swinging down with full force.
Woosh!
The enemy Gold Knight spun his suit effortlessly, bringing his sword toward Jack's head.
"Woah—!" Jack yelped, forcing his suit to duck, bending its knees just in time.
"Too sluggish! You bore me!" Aurum shouted through the speakers before slamming a kick into Jack's torso.
The metal foot connected, hurling Jack across the town square.
Jack stumbled backward, struggling to regain his footing. His Armatus suit crashed into a nearby building, shattering glass and sending shards cascading to the ground.
"Ah!" He grunted as a damage alert flashed across his display, signalling an impact to his fingers.
"Tsk!" Lupus clicked her tongue and zeroed in. She parkoured off the wall and launched herself toward Aurum.
He caught her in his sights, swinging his blade at her in a devastating arc.
The razor-sharp edge closed in, aiming to sever her in half.
But Lupus had a trick of her own. She tapped her heels together, and her golden boots pulsed with mana, granting her a mid-air step. She twisted her body, just barely avoiding the strike.
"Not so fast!" Aurum smirked, rotating his blade to its flat side — intending to swat her away instead.
With no other option, Lupus crossed her arms, curling into a ball.
"Magnetos!" She chanted.

Instantly, an invisible barrier enveloped her.
Thud!
The flat of the blade slammed into the barrier, launching her into a nearby building.
Boom!
A thunderous explosion tore through the air as the structure crumbled, sending debris and smoke billowing outward.
"Lupy?!" Jack's jaw dropped.
"Focus on the enemy!" He snapped himself back to reality, steeling his mind as he turned his attention to Aurum.
The green war machine stood tall and unshaken against the wind. Even with its cannon arm missing, it remained an intimidating beast.
Aurum swung his ionised blade, dragging its tip along the concrete. Sparks and burnt embers trailed behind.
Raising his sword, he pointed it at Jack in defiance.
"I shall cut you down in the next strike... or two," He taunted, his voice laced with amusement.
"Is this guy even serious?!" Jack thought, his eyes sweeping towards a small figure drifting in the shadows.
"That's Rhok!" He realised.
"Jack! On three, we attack together!" Rhok commanded as he dashed through the scattered debris.
Three...
Jack's thrusters ignited, launching him towards Aurum's suit.
Aurum tightened his grip, positioning himself for the counterattack.
Two...
With a burst from his personal booster, Rhok leapt towards Aurum's leg, his pulse gun snapping open, whirling with energy.
Meanwhile, Jack's blade clashed against Aurum's, sending a shower of sparks flying.
The enemy swiftly pressed his sword downward, his weight and thrusters overpowering Jack's defence.
The Silver Armatus groaned, its hydraulic joints straining beyond their limit.
One!
Rhok fired at the exposed knee joint.
Aurum's suit buckled, losing balance.
Seizing the opportunity, Jack shifted his weight, driving his opponent down as he raised his blade for a cockpit strike.
"Just so you know, I don't need legs!" Aurum screamed in pure exhilaration, engaging his backpack thrusters at full throttle.
Clang!
"Ah!" Jack yelped as Aurum slammed into him, shaking his cockpit violently.
The massive impact sent them both toppling backwards, Jack's blade slipping from his grasp.
Gritting his teeth, Jack fired his thrusters, ramming back into the enemy.
The two steel titans collided with a deafening crash, their metal joints groaning under the strain.
"Well played — trying to take me two against one," Aurum grunted, his smirk unwavering.
With a sudden shift, the enemy Gold Knight redirected his thrusters to the side while engaging his leg boosters.
In a flash, he drove a devastating knee into Jack's chest.
Jack's Armatus was hurled into the air, lifting several metres before crashing back down under gravity's pull.
His vision blurred for a second.
"Crap! This guy is a monster!" He exclaimed, frustration surging through him as his mind raced for the next move.
