Chapter 123: Chapter 123

"Future daughter-in-law..." Cindy repeated her words which had become a source of encouragement for her. "D-do you think Sebastian will truly like me once I kill my mother?"

"I’m sure he will. You cannot marry rich if you’re not ruthless, that’s just the rule of thumb. If you can’t follow through and insist on keeping your burdensome mother, then don’t blame him if he doesn’t want to be with you."

Cindy swallowed her saliva hard. Of course, she wanted to be accepted by Sebastian, but murdering the mother who raised her was a difficult decision, especially when that woman was the only one who’d take her out of the foster system.

"The decision is yours. Though, you’re not the only one in line. Even if Winter isn’t around for him, I still have many girls who’d take the chance to be with Sebastian."

"I’ll do it!" Cindy said decisively once she realized she almost blew the only chance she had. "I-I will do it, so please, don’t let him with someone else!"

"Good, then I’ll wait for the result. Call me once you’re done."

"O-okay!"

Beep.

Camilla hung up the call and quickly blocked Cindy’s phone number. She didn’t have any intention to be involved with murder, at least not by a sloppy woman who’d probably get arrested a day after the murder.

She simply convinced Cindy to do it to scare Winter a bit, so she would realize not to try to mess with her.

"This is what happens when you’re trying to be a naughty little girl, Winter," Camilla chuckled as she couldn’t wait to see Winter’s face when she knew her mother had been murdered.

**

As she hung up the phone, she glared at the Uber driver who had been eavesdropping the whole time. She rolled her eyes and said, "You know that I won’t kill my mom, right? I was on a call with my boyfriend’s mom just now, and she is craaaazzyy."

"Y-Yes, I trust you," the Uber driver was so scared that he drove faster until they arrived at the destination.

Cindy left the car and entered her home. She went straight to the kitchen to get a glass of milk and began drinking it slowly while staring at the kitchen counter where she stored all the kitchen utensils, including the knife.

’I don’t think I should kill her. She is still my mother. Well, not a blood-related mother, but she’s the only one who stepped up to take care of me,’ Cindy pondered. ’She might have a bias for Winter, but at least she doesn’t hurt me, right?’

’But she is already old and sickly now. What is the point of living when you can’t even do basic things? Isn’t it better to just die and be of use to me instead?’ Cindy began contemplating as she walked towards the kitchen counter. She grabbed the kitchen knife and stared at the sharp tip. ’This could be her last motherly sacrifice for me. She had sacrificed enough for Winter, it’s time she sacrificed herself for me.’

"With her death, I can finally marry a rich man who would take care of me for the rest of my life," Cindy said as she stared at her reflection on the knife.

Cindy began walking upstairs where her mother was resting in her room. The old woman was probably sleeping by now, or reading books to get rid of boredom, so it would be easy for Cindy.

’I need to attack immediately, so she won’t scream. It’d be difficult for her screams to alert the neighbours,’ Cindy thought as she stood in front of the door.

She took a deep breath as she clenched the knife in her hand. It was a difficult thing to do, especially when her mind kept on replaying all the good times she had with her adopted mother.

Gina paid less interest to her, but they still spent free time together.

Her mother would bring her to the park, play with her, and even attend almost all the parent meetings and other events at her school.

Cindy also remembered that time when her mother attended the regional baseball tournament because she played in a marching band there.

It was all a beautiful memory, but it didn’t stop her from wanting to kill her mother.

’As sad as it can be, you would be more useful to me when you’re dead, Mom,’ Cindy said in her heart. ’I won’t ask for anything else after this. Well, I can’t, since you’d be dead. But I’ll finally marry, so bear with me, alright?’

Cindy hid the knife behind her back and opened the door slowly.

She had a kind smile as she didn’t want to alert her mother, but that kind smile quickly disappeared when she saw someone else already sitting next to her mother.

Winter lifted her head and smiled at Cindy, "You’re back. What took you so long, Cindy?"

...

...

Cindy was too stunned to speak.

Out of all the murderous possibilities that she formed in her head, Winter was not in any part of it. She thought she could just silently stab her mother’s neck or chest, then call Camilla with the picture of her mother’s dead body as proof that she was also capable of cruelty.

"Cindy?" Gina asked when Cindy didn’t respond to Winter’s words. She looked worried and said, "I just heard from Winter that you got dismissed as an intern. I don’t know what happened, but you should apologize to Winter."

Cindy finally responded when Gina told her to apologize. She glared at Winter and snarled, "Why should I apologize to that woman? She is the one who fired me!"

"I did not fire you. I just dismissed you because you’re just an intern," Winter shrugged. "If you don’t want to tell Mom what you did wrong, then let me tell her that you have been trying to seduce the CEO all the time, and you slack off when he’s not around. Naturally, I don’t need that type of employee in my office."

What Winter said wasn’t wrong at all, even Cindy had to admit that she was right. But that was because she found no point in trying to work when Sebastian wasn’t around.

She was there to seduce Sebastian, so she didn’t need to work for the rest of her life.

Gina wasn’t happy with it. She kept on telling Cindy to be grateful and not to be the other woman in her sister’s marriage. But she kept on insisting, saying that she could do much better than Winter.

Now that Winter was displeased with her, Cindy had lost the one-in-a-million chance to have a great job and a good payment, which was difficult to get for a fresh graduate like her.

"You should apologize, maybe Winter will give you a second chance if you do."

"Well, if she is sincere enough, then I will reconsider," Winter said, though she actually had no intention to help her at all. The best she could do was probably pay for her postgraduate studies if Cindy begged hard enough.

But Cindy would never do that as well. She still had her pride, and her pride told her not to be a cheap bitch that was easily played by Winter, just because her whore of a big sister had money.

Cindy stared at Winter and Gina consecutively and her lips curled up. Her eyes were filled with anger, but she began laughing.

"What’s wrong? Have you gone insane now?" Winter asked.

"Perhaps," Cindy said. She took a step forward with a knife behind her back. If she wanted to kill these two bitches, then she had to start with Winter, because her old mother wouldn’t be able to do anything. "I should’ve known that you wanted Sebastian all for yourself. I mean, I can’t blame you. I would do the same if I married rich."

Cindy kept on walking forward towards Winter, and her smile turned creepy, "But isn’t it unfair that you always have it good, while I have to be stuck taking care of an old and sickly mother? We should switch."

"Yeah, that’s why I am here. I want to take Mom out of this place. I think she needs proper nursing, and also proper security while you are not in the house," Winter said calmly. "With that, I will also sell this apartment, so you should rent an apartment somewhere else."

"I-I haven’t agreed on that yet," Gina said weakly. If she could be honest, she wanted to stay in this area for the rest of her life, because this was her place growing up.

But her daughter was right, she shouldn’t be a burden for Cindy who also had her own life.

Cindy’s heart began to waver.

This would be a perfect opportunity for her to start fresh, free of any burden.

But freedom meant nothing when she couldn’t be with a handsome and rich young man.

"Well, that’s perfect, because I want to start a new life as well," Cindy grinned as she stood in front of Winter. "Without both of you, of course."

Cindy lifted the hand she used to hide the knife as she quickly aimed it at Winter’s chest.
