Madam Wants To Divorce Her Second Husband-Chapter 90
Chapter 90: Chapter 90
Lucien stared at the pair of newlyweds with his arms crossed. He didn’t look happy for an obvious reason, but his smile soon appeared when Winter was the first one to engage in a conversation with him.
Winter let go of Sebastian’s arm, which made the latter surprised by the gesture. He thought that Winter would still hug his arm tightly until the end of the event.
Sebastian wanted to ask why, but Winter filled the awkward atmosphere between the three of them by greeting Lucien.
"It’s been a while, Lucien. How have you been?" Winter asked as she extended her arm for a handshake.
Lucien didn’t reject Winter. He shook her hand in less than a second after she extended it. Lucien even went as far as to keep holding her milky smooth hand while talking, "Indeed, it’s been a while. I’m sorry for your loss, Winter. Though, you don’t seem to be too sad right now. You’re looking as pretty as the last time I saw you at the funeral."
Winter knew that Lucien liked to flirt a little whenever they met, so she flirted back as a way to make the conversation going, "And you’re looking dashing as ever. You said that you’ll bring a girlfriend once we meet again. Is she here, or are you still searching?"
Lucien had a mysterious smile as he replied, "I’m still waiting for her to open up her heart for me."
"Oh, really? Waiting is such a chore, I think you should just tell her already," Winter said as she got equally invested in knowing who this lucky woman was.
"You’ll know her, eventually."
Meanwhile, Sebastian had been glaring at Lucien. He couldn’t hide his jealousy, especially when he saw them shaking their hands for a bit too long, it was more like holding hands at this point.
He didn’t want to see this eyesore for too long, so he quickly stretched his hand and said, "Good evening, Mr. LeBlanc, I’m Sebastian Saenz, CEO of Goldmine Realty and Winter’s husband."
That last sentence rang inside Lucien’s head. He glanced at Sebastian for a second, and ignored him completely, "And who is this man you bring today, Winter? I thought I told you to call me if you need something... or someone."
"Ah—this is my new husband," Winter said as she quickly pulled her hand, leaving Lucien’s hand hanging after their long handshake. Winter patted Sebastian’s arm and continued, "We just got married a week ago, but he has been the CEO of Goldmine Realty for roughly six months now. He’s done a great job running the company after Aiden’s sudden passing."
"So, he’s a replacement, huh?" Lucien mentioned. He had a kind smile when he said it, but Sebastian knew damn well that Lucien was mocking him.
He gritted his teeth. He could’ve just fought with this pretentious old man. But he didn’t want to create trouble for his wife, so he replied tastefully, "Not a replacement. An upgrade."
Winter couldn’t hide her scowl when Sebastian said that. But she also didn’t want to make it awkward between them.
Thus, she suppressed her anger and patted Sebastian’s arm again, now harder than before, to the point of almost slapping his arm repeatedly. "Sebastian might be young, but he has the brain. So, don’t hesitate to contact him if you ever need something, Lucien."
"I don’t need him. I need you, Winter," Lucien said firmly. "I mean, I’ve everything figured out. My business is running on auto-mode. So I won’t need his help. But I need you."
"N-need me?" Winter was confused. "What would you need me for? I’m just a housewife."
"But you are the owner of Goldmine Realty, aren’t you?"
"I-I am."
"Then why do I need to talk with an employee of yours when I can talk to you directly for any project?"
Winter went silent after that.
Lucien was right. Why would he need to talk with Sebastian when he could just talk with her directly as the owner of the company? Sure that Sebastian had more respect around the company and ran the company’s operations and decision-making smoothly.
But she still had the power to add or remove a project they had.
It was a major oversight on her part, and now she was caught in a difficult spot.
She wanted Sebastian to handle this because she wasn’t well-equipped with business lobbying. Besides, lobbying usually meant bringing women and money in. She felt nervous, because her work experience was that of a purely professional one, working on her desk, reading one financial report after another.
Lucien smirked when he caught her panic, and pushed further, "Then, why don’t you send this man away and let’s have a conversation, only the two of us? We both know he’s just a replacement that is worth nothing for you, right?"
Sebastian saw that Lucien’s glib had gotten into Winter’s head. She began to doubt and was about to agree before he stepped in and said, "My wife told me that she has to talk with Miss Patricia Jung. That’s why she asked me to talk with you in her stead."
Sebastian quickly stood in front of Winter and pushed her back, signaling her to go now before it was too difficult to reject Lucien.
Winter understood the sign, and she said, "Well, I promised Patricia to have a conversation after talking with you, Lucien, so I’ll go to her now. Please take your time talking with my husband. I’ll see you both later."
"Wait, Winter—"
Winter ignored Lucien who called her name, and walked away from them.
Lucien was at a loss. He was here because he wanted to talk with Winter. He knew that Winter was close with another man, but he didn’t expect them to get married only a year after Aiden’s death.
Unfortunately, she already made her decision, so what was left was for Lucien to improvise if he wanted to marry her... as Winter’s third husband.
Lucien stared at the man in front of him with an icy gaze, showing no warm or even lukewarm attitude after Winter left.
