Mage Legend-Chapter 28: Episode 11 Battle Situation
Chapter 28 - Episode 11 Battle Situation
Another morning came, and Moon Harbor City regained its solemn atmosphere. The guards stood on the city walls to hold their positions, the cavalry was ready to charge at any moment, and Knight Macken was standing on the city head, clutching the giant sword at his waist, observing the situation in the distance.
"Have you found the Mage, sir?" the Holy Knight Commander inquired of the soldier beside him.
"Your Excellency, we have not found him."

Knight Macken waved his hand to dismiss his guard. That young Mage, although always speaking with a pessimistic tone, was not afraid of battle and faced the enemy's assault atop the city walls every time. He would even personally investigate the battlefield after each skirmish. Perhaps, with some training, he could become an honorable and fearless warrior.
Shaking his head, Knight Macken mocked himself. That guy is a Mage; do you really expect a Mage to have a Paladin's sense of honor? Nevertheless, that Mage's eyesight is remarkable; even an eagle in the sky wouldn't see that far. If he were here, I wouldn't even need to send out the scouting cavalry.
The Giants slowly approached, still in yesterday's formation, marching in neat rows. There was no sign of a charge, nor did they appear any different from yesterday.
The only difference was that they stopped at a distance of about 500 meters.
The Giants unloaded large bags from their shoulders, seizing the bottom and flipping them over, causing dozens of stones of varying sizes to tumble to the ground.
"What are they up to? At such a distance, they can't possibly attack! Are they surrendering by showing they have no weapons?"
The actions of the Giants were even more unexpected; they tore their bags along the seams. Each bag became a long strip of cloth.
Knight Macken opened his mouth wide; what did that mean? The Giants had destroyed their own bags, symbols of their home! Had they gone mad? Were they nothing to them anymore?
If Lynch were here, with his extraordinary vision, he could see tears glistening in the eyes of some Giants.
The Stone Giants wrapped a stone with the long strips, using the ruins of their home, then spun in place, causing the cloth strips to carry the stones in rapid circular motion around their bodies.
Knight Macken instantly understood the Giants' intention.
A moment later, the Giants released one end of the cloth strips, and the stone rain finally descended on Moon Harbor City.
This method of attack had no accuracy at all; stones of varying sizes flew in at different speeds, angles, and rotations, flooding this famous city north of Pate. Yet one thing was common: wherever they landed, whether it was on the city walls, houses, or fragile human bodies, they destroyed, smashed, and crushed whatever they hit.
In Macken Knight's eyes, the light vanished instantly, as the premonition of victory that supported his confidence evaporated.
The second wave of stone rain came. An Attendant, watching the trajectory of the stone bullets in the sky, suddenly pushed the distracted Knight Macken aside. Immediately, a boulder crushed the Attendant beneath it.
The immense roar finally had an effect; Knight Macken refocused his sight and regained consciousness. "Catapults, attack!"
The counterattack from Moon Harbor City began. But this time, the Giants' attack position was way too far. Although Moon Harbor City's catapults could launch the stone bullets to that distance, the prolonged airborne travel had significantly reduced their destructive power and impact. This energy, although higher than that of the Giants' thrown stones, could be offset by the Hill Giants' bodily strength. The erratic stone bullets flew past, only to be caught forcefully by the Hill Giants. After a short while, these stone bullets became ammunition for the Stone Giants, returning to bombard Moon Harbor City. Unfortunately, Moon Harbor City had nothing capable of catching these stone bullets.
"Catapults, cease fire!" Knight Macken roughly assessed the casualties on both sides. Each round of catapult attacks from Moon Harbor City could bring down one to three Giants, yet it provided the enemy with over fifty stone bullets. Continuing like this would only lead to destroying themselves!
