Chapter 35: Final Plans

’Yessss.’ Azariah was elated at the success of his plan.

He regretted the students disappearing because unlike the main plan, he could’ve stopped it.

There was a clear indication that it was Victor and his goons supplied by the Rosaliths doing it.

However, he let it happen intentionally. To open the Committee’s and the Council’s eyes.

So they could realize that this wasn’t just some ordinary common Rosalith mischief.

It was an actual plan for destruction. And it worked — the people finally listened to him.

And he had been able to lay out his plan to them perfectly.

The disappearances also worked in their favour by letting the organization’s guard down. They’d get easy after finding out their plans were working perfectly.

’Now, I need to do some more things.’

Azariah heard the door behind him open. Turning, he saw Yvan coming out, and their eyes met.

’He is one of them.’

Yvan was about to say something, but Azariah was quick to cut him off.

"I need you to come with me. We need to talk."

Yvan shut his mouth, gulping for a second before nodding.

The guy seemed to have found enough respect for Azariah that now he was taking his words seriously.

As they turned into the same corner that Melissa and Azariah took before, the latter looked at Yvan.

He was happy that the guy listened easily. It was like he had said before.

In dangerous situations, Yvan was the first to give up his goofy attitude and take everything seriously.

"Here’s what I need you to do..."

***

And from there, he laid out some details to Yvan that he had not mentioned in the meeting.

Candles flickered at the side walls of a dark room, laying light upon some figures on the floor.

A man sat on a throne-like seat, almost about to fall off as if he was half-drunk.

There were blood marks on the walls and tables around the room, laden with papers all over.

Papers with students’ names, photos, and details written all over. Blood marks smudged half of those papers.

Under the throne, some more figures were sitting on the floor with their heads bowed to the man on the throne.

"Let me guess, we—are having in—gwarp—terferences again." The man on the seat spoke, gurping midway through the sentence.

The figures on the floor shivered. Not because of his voice — his voice was rather like a young boy’s or man’s.

But rather the repercussions. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

"Y-yes, young master."

Silence took over the room for a few seconds before the man sighed.

"Gwarp... You bastards can’t gwarp do anythi—"

"My lord—" A figure tried to interrupt him, knowing what was coming.

WHOOSH!

Suddenly, the room was lit ablaze as a beam of flames hit the figure’s head, separating it from his body.

Thud. Thud. Thud.

His head went rolling back on the floor as the room was stripped back into darkness.

Drip. Drip.

The marks of his blood stained the walls, dripping on the floor, and the other figures shivered as the man roared in anger.

Crack.

"Are you daring to argue against me!?" He grabbed the sidearms of the chair, spreading cracks all over as his face finally came into the candles’ view.

Bloodshot crimson-red eyes with purple veins that seemed to be an effect of some drug or potion.

The purple veins spread all over his face and neck like cracks while blood dripped down his nose.

Drip.

Suddenly, the man seemed to notice, and he retreated in his chair.

The figures took notice of him calming down, and one suddenly spoke up.

"My lord, it’s that guy. He keeps interfering in all our plans."

Anger came over the man again as he raised his arm, but suddenly the words made him retreat as curiosity came over his face.

"Who?" he asked, and the figure gulped before answering.

"Azariah Indrath."

There was still a look of cluelessness on the man’s face as he tried to remember who that man was.

Until suddenly, he remembered. The man gritted his teeth as he gripped the sidearms of the chair again, now breaking them into pieces.

"That fucking bastard!" he roared.

"That bodyguard. His audacity to stand up not against me, but my plans..." the man spoke through clenched teeth.

"I’ll fucking kill him!" He kicked the chair in anger, setting it ablaze.

The figures shivered but remained silent, not daring to interrupt the man’s anger.

"Azariah... Indrath, just you wait. I’ll fucking murder you." The man spoke through bloodshot eyes, as if he had gone crazy.

"You dare..." He turned to a table.

"You fucking dare!" He started rummaging through the sheets, trying to find something.

Until he finally did as he raised the sheet up in the air.

"You dare try to stop me from ’her’." He ran a hand on the blood-smeared sheet, a crazy smile on his face.

"You dare try to separate me from my love." He licked the sheet.

Anger came in his eyes again as he suddenly hurled:

"You dare try to take my Shayla away from me!!" A ball of flames left his hand, striking a figure.

"UNGH!!!" The figure screamed in pain as he writhed around on the ground, but the man did not care.

He turned back to the student sheet, looking at the blood-smeared face on the sheet.

He started running his hands on the face, licking it, hugging it close.

"Ahh, my Shayla." He kissed the picture.

"My darling." He sniffed it.

His derogatory acts continued for an hour in the room while the figures sat on the floor, completely in silence.

Until he was finally done and slammed the picture on the wall, pasting it from all the saliva on it.

"I’ll burn you, Azariah Indrath." He turned and stormed out of the room.

Leaving the student sheet pasted on the wall, covered in saliva and some other gooey-white liquid.

Azariah sneezed as he came out of the committee building.

’Is someone talking about me?’

Just as he was about to move ahead, he saw someone else come out of the committee buildings as well.

Alyssia.

Their eyes met, and she nodded to him as a greeting.

Azariah nodded back.

"I guess you’ve heard my plans," he said.

She nodded again, and Azariah looked into the distance.

"I don’t know how you people are, honestly." He started.

"I’m not a noble. Never lived the life of one." He took a step down the stairs.

"Indraths, hailed as the strongest clan of Nippon. The emblem of light that protects and loves all." He took another step, not looking back to see if Alyssia was coming.

"While I don’t know how much of that is true and how much of that you believe in, I hope that you, maybe, one day in the future, start caring about others around you."

Turning back, he saw her just a few steps away from him as well. She had followed him.

"Whether you take my advice or not, that’s up to you. However, believe me — that was the safest plan I could’ve come up—"

"I’ll do it." She interrupted him.

Surprised, Azariah looked at her, and she continued.

"Not because of them, but I’ll trust you for once with the plan."

A smile blossomed on Azariah’s face as he turned and started going down the stairs again.

"That’s enough. Thank you."

With that, he left the area.
