Magus Bloodlines.-Chapter 54: War on Allario Academy.
Chapter 54 - War on Allario Academy.
Several dozen large cargo vans and trucks drove through the main gate of Allario Academy. Helicopters flew in from overhead, bringing in more men and equipment. The time for the reckoning was now. Weeks of research, phone calls, and training went into this single operation. There would be no retreat. The only way this mission succeeded was the death of those damned wolves.
Xenon smiled at himself as he sat in the front seat of the lead truck. They barreled through the gate, not even stopping as they plowed through the crowds of students and faculty members. The crowds screamed in pain and panic as the vehicles mowed everyone down that got in their way. The first batch of trucks made a beeline straight for the grand arena in the south section of the campus.
Staff members appeared and tried to use magical means to block and stop the vehicles. It might have worked if the trucks didn't have a large caliber machine gun mounted in the bed of the truck with a man standing back there, strapped in. They all opened fire. The crackling of the guns coming to live as the bullets shoot forward in all directions. Xenon didn't care how many of these fools died. His goal was to take down the wolves once and for all. Bodies fell and screams died down as everyone was filled with holes. Blood covered the ground under the bodies as the army of vehicles made its way through to the arena. They wouldn't make the same mistakes as last time.
They would use overwhelming force and numbers to ensure their objectives were complete. They had the god Ares on their side. He was the actual god of war from ancient times. This was a holy crusade for them. The mission they received generations ago was a simple one from Ares. To cause chaos, war and death whenever possible.
The lead truck came to a screeching halt in front of the main building. All the other trucks and SUVs pulled up alongside them, forming a semi-half circle around the main entrance. Bodies and blood littered the road in front of them, proof the miniguns on the trucks did their jobs. The helicopters above them began firing canisters through the windows of the Grand Arena itself. Screams and smoke came from the shattered windows as the side-mounted weapons fired through the windows.
Xenon chuckled softly. This would be much different compared to when his brother assaulted this compound. As it was, the body count was already high just from them storming the facility entrance. He kicked a body aside from the path he was walking. Blood and carnage filled the academy. He could hear the screams from the dormitory buildings to the west. An army of trucks was over there, doing their mission of slaughtering everyone they came across. No longer did he care about just targeting shifters. As far as Xenon was concerned, they were all guilty of betraying what it meant to be human.
He had a dedicated squad formed around him. His loyal vanguard men. These were the best of the best between multiple agencies. Led by his second in command, Malachai, they were a force to be reckoned with. "Alright everyone, weapons check, then we move in to capture the targets." Malachai called out. Everyone readied their firearms, made sure they had one in the chamber and back-up magazines ready on standby. The sounds of weapons being checked, loaded, and readied filled the area as the helicopters swirled overhead.
The side-mounted guns on the helicopters were going off in intermittent bursts as they targeted students and staff on the ground. Some of the helicopters were lowered down to the ground, the dull thud of the blades making it almost impossible to hear conversation as they dropped off many more soldiers onto the ground nearby. The choppers then took back off and headed towards the administration buildings.
The plan had several stages. The first was already complete. Storm the entrance, causing as much chaos and death on the way to the arena. Have the second and third teams head to Points Bravo and Charlie. The dormitories and administration buildings. Unlike what Cedrion did, Xenon would dedicate a large number of forces to split the enemy staff members and make them weak and susceptible to a large-scale attack. The fewer experienced staff to work together means more bodies he could drop.
Once everyone was ready, Malachai looked at Xenon. "Everyone's all set and ready to go boss," Malachai informed Xenon. He was itching to get back at the damn shifters for the death of Cedrion. Now was the time for vengeance.
Xenon nodded coldly at his second in command. He pulled both his pistols out of his chest holsters under his black jacket. He was going to bathe this academy in blood. "All forces, move out and exterminate the vermin! For our holy God!" Xenon instructed with enthusiasm as he walked into the front entrance. His vanguard forces were ahead of him, quick gunfire making bodies drop to the ground.

"Bring me the targets alive!" Xenon declared as they made their way through the lobby, dropping bodies as they went. Every shot sounded like an opera of music to Xenon's ears. Sweet satisfaction.
A giant earthen wall blocked the hallway as they turned the next corner. Simple white stone filled the hallway from floor to ceiling. "So, they have some skilled Magi still alive," Xenon muttered as he signaled one of the vanguard to place an explosive charge on the wall. The rest of the vanguard ran back behind the corner as the lead man placed the charge on the wall.
"Do it," Malachai instructed as the man pressed a switch and the charge detonated, exploding and sending the wall crumbling to pieces around them.
"Ah, I love the smell of gunpowder and explosives in the morning," Xenon said confidently as he strode out from around the corner. He could hear alot of screaming and terror up ahead and figured they were close to the main arena.
A team of men in what appeared to be a security uniform ran out from around the corner. They had guns aimed and took fire at Xenon and his team. They would defend the students, or at the least stall for time. Gunfire rang out as Xenon's crew returned fire. One of Xenon's vanguard was quick to take action by summoning up an earthen wall just as the enemy strike team opened fire. The bullets thudding harmlessly against the stone barrier.
"Well done," Malachai called out as he raised his high-powered rifle and took careful potshots around the corner, aiming as well as could be expected under the constant fire from the enemy forces. They were slowly making progress as the number of security forces slowly began to dwindle under their onslaught. Xenon's forces were taking minimal losses with this blitzkrieg-style offensive strike. That however, doesn't mean they didn't receive any. Several of his vanguard men were already down and out of the fight by the time they finished off the several teams of security personnel that had arrived to fight them off. A few well-thrown grenades by Xenon's men went off among the group of security forces. The men screamed and ducked for cover as they went off.
The explosion went off with a thunderous crash in the narrow space. The lights went out, broke beyond use or repair and dust filled the hallway, making it difficult to see or breathe. Xenon coughed as he tried to clear his throat while he ducked behind the corner. "Aim those grenades a little better next time," Xenon called out as he took a quick swig of water and put it back in his pack. Damn, that was close. A few feet closer and his men might be picking him up off the floor. He pulled out a datapad from his back pocket that was displaying live satellite data from his forces around the campus.
According to everyone's microchip data, his losses were minimal in nature. The casualties among the academy staff and students were considerably higher. So far, for the most part, everything has been going according to plan. By now, most of the students in the arena should be making their way back to the secondary arena and the safe room. Which means those wolves should be coming out to play any time now. He grinned in anticipation. This entire operation was just a cover for Xenon to hunt down and eliminate those responsible for his brother's death. Let everyone think he was doing this for that god, Ares. The truth was far from that. He just wanted to see three wolves skinned and killed in the worst sort of way possible.
A loud throaty rumble filled the hallway as a voice called out, "You made the wrong choice coming here today," and a pair of blood-red eyes glowed in the soft darkness of the dust-filled hallway as several of the vanguard cried out in pain and dropped to the ground, holes in their chest.
