Chapter 62 - Principal Shepard goes on the attack.

Principal Shepard growled deep in his throat as he pulled his blood-soaked hand out from the latest victim's chest. He recognized instantly who the enemy was when he saw the red anarchy symbol on their black uniforms. Rage filled his thoughts as he realized they decided to attack his academy for the second time. He was not some weak, pathetic old man to roll over when someone comes knocking at his door. He was an alpha wolf. He was a former leader of the Lyko's pack. He would have their blood over this foolish act.

He decided to not waste any time in this fight. The quicker that he ended things, the more lives might be saved. He quickly gathered some of his more senior magi and led the way for where the enemy was concentrated the hardest. They watched through the camera's as the enemy forces moved in coordinated unison, clearing room and hallway alike as they executed every single person they came across. The amount of loss and bloodshed between Allario and Daedalus students and staff was sickening. This was supposed to be a harmless competition between both schools, fostering connections and building relationships that would potentially last a lifetime for the students.

The rage filled Shepards mind as he threw his head back and let loose a baleful, haunting howl that filled the arena. He shifted mid howl as the cadence of the howl changed into that of a deep wolf's call. The staff standing near him didn't flinch or hesitate as their principal let loose his war cry. They all felt the same. The same level of loss, grief and self-hatred at letting this happen, at letting these students be slaughtered and not protected. They may not be the were-wolf species of shifter, but they all felt the same sense of protection that any member of a pack or clan would in regard to the younglings or those in their care.

"All of you, protect yourselves. Save as many of the students as you can, and take as many of the enemy down as you get the chance to in doing so." Shepard ordered as they watched the one presumed to be the leader make his way through a hallway. Shepard was almost certain he was the leader since he bore a striking resemblance to Cedrion that Shepard killed during the last attack. He pointed to the one he highlighted on the security screen, "This one is mine," he growled out, his eyes burning red with their intensity.

His staff, all grim faced and determined nodded their understanding. They knew the chances of them dying this day was high, and they were all determined to take as many of the enemy forces out as they could. "There is a chance, this is the final day for the Allario academy of magic. The losses we have suffered this day have been astronomical in numbers. But if today is the last day for the academy, then let us remind the world how powerful trained Magi truly are." Shepard said as he turned to face his team.

Over a dozen staff members nodded. Each of them had already conjured magical armor of varying elements over their bodies. Each one, prepared to die if it meant defeating the enemy and saving the students. "Right, move out!" Shepard ordered as they all left the security room. Each of them was given instructions on where to go, what areas to focus on. Each person was to move in groups of two to better their odds of success and survival.

Principal Shepard, fully shifted into his red fur covered were-wolf form ran through the hallways. Every group of enemy he encountered was quickly slaughtered before they even realized what happened. His speed and wrath was undeniable as he made his way through the halls, his claws enhanced with a mix of flame and lightning magic, providing sharp powerful slashes against the enemy soldiers.

Cries of pain, and grunts of agony filled the hall behind him as bodies slumped to the ground, bleeding out from the wounds on their bodies. He still hadn't found the one person he was hunting for. His wolf was starving for more blood, more death, more vengeance as he inflicted his wrath on all these foolish humans that invaded his school and attacked his students.

He rounded the corner and saw the one he sought. He was standing with his back to Shepard as he issued orders to his vanguard around him. Another explosion racked the area around them, causing the lights to flicker in the darkness as he ran forward, shoving his clawed hands through the chest of two of the vanguard. They cried out in pain as he ripped their still beating hearts out of their chest. Their bodies slumped to the ground as the man turned to look back behind him. "You made a foolish decision to come here today, now you will die, like your pathetic waste of a brother," Shepard called out, his eyes glowing ominously in the dark hallway.

"So, you are the one that killed my brother?" the man asked angrily. His eyes narrowed coldly as he inspected the red wolf in front of him. This was the one that ripped my brother to pieces, he wondered. He didn't look that strong. Xenon looked the snarling wolf, covered in blood up and down. He wasn't impressed. Malachai turned in anger and aimed his high-powered rifle at Shepard.

This was the bastard that killed his boss and friend. Malachai was going to kill this red wolf if it was the last thing he did. He fired off a few rounds in anger as the wolf lifted his hand and a vortex of powerful wind magic filled the space between them. The wind pushed most of the people in the hallway back from the ferocity. The men grunted as they slammed against the walls and the wolf just grinned, the bullets flying off randomly and safely away from him.

Xenon raised his hand to halt Malachai's attempts. "Stay your hand Malachai, firearms alone wont enough to skin this mutt." He said as he lifted his hand and a powerful stream of fire magic, narrow in size went flying towards the wolf. The vortex of wind magic seemed to fuel the fire magic Xenon used to attack with, making it faster and stronger as Shepard had to jump to the side to avoid the hit. The magic landed against the fall wall, blasting through it like it was made from paper.

Xenon wasn't just the leader of the True Lord's Army. He was a powerful Magi himself and capable of dishing out some serious damage. He lifted his hands and slammed them down on the ground. Waves of earthen spikes erupted from the ground as they filled the hallway between them. Shepard cursed as he jumped into the air and dug his claws into the ceiling while the spikes went by harmlessly underneath him. He dropped down, spinning his legs in a wide arc, a blade of water magic in front of his leg sliced through the tops of the spikes allowing him to land without harm.

"Is that all you got, human?" Shepard asked as he snarled at the man and started running forward. His armor was glowing brightly, fire and lightning covering his fur in a protective embrace as he charged the two men. He opened his mouth, concentrating his mana and a blast of combined fire and lightning magic exploded out, filling the width of the hallway towards the men.

Malachai cursed as he tried to run back towards the next open hallway and avoid the blast. Xenon clapped his hands, and a wall of stone rose from the ground to block his body from the worst of the blast. His skin tingled and hair rose on their ends from the static electricity left over from the blast.

Shepard ran forward and punched the stone wall, his clawed fist going straight threw it. He glanced in the hole he made and saw the floor was gone. In its place was a hole in the ground where Xenon once stood. Shepard growled in frustration as he heard gunfire and reflexively lifted his hand and a wall of super-heated flame appeared at his back, blocking the incoming bullets. The men cursed as they tried to take aim once again and opened fire, trying to bring the red wolf down.

Shepard relied on his flame walls and magical armor as he looked around, trying to find the one man he wanted, no, needed to kill at all costs. He let out a angry howl as he couldn't find Xenon anywhere. "The rat escaped with his tail between his legs," Shepard mused as he turned and decided that he would thin out the enemy numbers for the time being until he encountered Xenon once again. He just prayed that his grandson and their pack were safe in the infirmary for now.
