Chapter 374: Ki Training (1)
Chapter 374
Snrrr.
Snrrr.
Snrrrr.
Snrrr.
Snrrrr.
The sound of steady snoring filled Grey’s room as he slept soundly and tiredly. His injuries from the battle had been surprisingly healed by a special concoction prepared by Yami. After drinking it, his wounds had mended slightly, enough to let his body rest properly.
Now, he was enjoying his sleep, completely relaxed, without a single ounce of worry on his face.
Unbeknownst to him, his door creaked open slowly, and a bulky man walked in with a deep frown etched onto his face.
Walking forward, he stopped beside Grey’s bed and looked down at the peacefully sleeping boy. The man was Yami. A small smile crept onto his face alongside the frown as he stared at Grey’s relaxed expression.
"Look at him," Yami whispered to himself with a faint smile. "He looks so small, so calm, so innocent... and tired. I shouldn’t be disturbing his sleep. He needs to rest." He sighed softly and turned to walk away from Grey’s bed, heading toward the door.
Opening it up, Yami was about to step out when, suddenly, he swiftly turned around with a grin spreading across his face.
"Or I could just wake him up and get this damned training underway!" Yami roared as Ki flared around his foot.
The energy pulsed and crackled as he lifted his leg and slammed it down with such force that the entire room seemed to shake like an earthquake had hit.
"Arghhh! An earthquake!" Grey shouted as his bed shook violently. He tumbled off with a loud thud and rolled around on the floor in panic. freewёbnoνel-com
"Save me, save me!" he kept shouting, flailing until Yami strode forward with an irritated expression and delivered a sharp smack to Grey’s cheek.
"Keep shut, will you!" Yami scolded with a deep frown while Grey whimpered quietly, rubbing his cheek with one hand.
"Much better. Now get ready. It’s time for our training."
"Wait... there was an earthquake a few moments ago," Grey said quickly, eyes still wide as he looked up at Yami.
Yami glanced at him with a sly smirk, and Grey’s eyes widened even more in realization.
"Don’t tell me... that was you."
"Get ready. I won’t say it again." Yami said flatly as he swiftly exited the room.
Grey just scoffed and slowly pushed himself off the ground, a deep frown settling on his face.
"He could have just woken me up like a normal and sensible human. Oh wait! He isn’t normal," he grumbled as he made his way into the bathroom to get ready.
A few minutes later, the duo set out of the house in the crisp morning air, Grey dragging his feet behind Yami while occasionally yawning loudly.
"That is the seventh time you’re yawning since we set out, and it’s quite annoying," Yami scolded in frustration as they kept walking.
"Well, I wouldn’t be yawning if someone didn’t wake me up so early. And not even wake me up normally, but abnormally," Grey scoffed as he yawned loudly again.
"You want to learn Ki? Then don’t complain," Yami replied as they reached the top of the mountain that led into the forest and eventually back into town.
"What? What are we doing here now?" Grey asked, unable to hold back yet another loud yawn as he rubbed his eyes sleepily.
"This will be our personal training spot from now on. This time, every single day and at this particular spot," Yami said as he sat down on the bare mountain top, the morning sun casting long shadows around them. He gestured for Grey to do the same.
"So, what am I learning now? How to punch a mountain? Run faster? Or what?" Grey asked eagerly, a wide smile spreading across his face as he dropped down onto the rocky ground.
"Do you know what Ki even is?" Yami asked with a raised eyebrow, his tone calm but serious.
"Why are you asking me such a ridiculous question? I’m not from this continent. How am I supposed to know?" Grey asked, mimicking Yami’s raised brow.
"And you wanted to learn Ki. You wanted to learn without even knowing what... what you wanted to learn actually is," Yami facepalmed himself with a sigh that seemed to carry years of disappointment.
"Well, what is it then?" Grey asked, stretching his arms above his head as a yawn crept up on him.
But before he could release it, Yami shot him a sharp death glare, causing Grey to swallow the yawn forcefully with a gulp.
"Now," Yami smiled faintly as he pointed directly at Grey. "Before we learn any techniques or tricks, we need to know what Ki actually is."
"Well, I’m all ears." Grey leaned forward a bit, expression suddenly serious, and Yami cleared his throat before beginning.
"Ki is the life energy present in all living beings and the world itself. It flows through pathways in the body called Meridians and gathers in a core called the Dantian," Yami explained carefully, watching Grey’s reaction.
Grey nodded slowly before raising a hand. "What’s a Dantian?" he asked with a raised brow.
Yami sighed again. "Dantian is the core where our Ki energy gathers. You saw how Ki was used the previous day—to move faster, to punch harder, to strengthen the body and so on?
Well, if our Dantian was empty, we wouldn’t be able to perform all those things for a while. We’d just be like regular humans until our Dantian fills back up."
"Okay, so Ki is all about internal energy, right?" Grey asked, tilting his head slightly.
Yami nodded. "Ki is internal and rooted in physical, spiritual, and emotional harmony."
"Noted," Grey grinned. "So I just have to dig deep and pull out whatever Ki energy I have, right?"
"Were you always this dense?" Yami asked, shaking his head in disappointment. "You can’t just suddenly sit down here and cultivate Ki. It takes time. It might be weeks, months, heck—even years—until you cultivate a Dantian."
"Right, right. It’s not that easy," Grey muttered, yawning loudly again while Yami simply sighed.
"So, what’s the first step?" Grey asked as he rubbed the back of his neck.
"The first step," Yami said as he stood up and dusted off his pants. Grey followed suit, standing as well while Yami glanced down the mountain’s steep path.
"See, the strength of our bodies determines how much Ki we can hold. Hence, we’re going to be doing a set of rigorous training," Yami said with a mischievous smile.
"When you say ’we,’" Grey mumbled suspiciously.
"Of course, I mean you," Yami smiled wider, the grin stretching across his face. "So, I want you to run up and down this mountain ten times."
"Wait, what?!" Grey shouted in horror, his voice echoing across the mountain peak. "Ten times?!"
Yami simply chuckled, resting his arms behind his head as if the entire thing was no big deal. "Better get moving."
