Magus Supremacy-Chapter 767: What Have you Done?
Chapter 767
"What have you just gone and done?!" Alba was unable to hold it in any longer, causing her to shout loudly.
Grey finally stopped panting as he stood upright with a sharp exhale, wiping the trickles of blood and sweat from his face.
"I just eliminated some greedy folks," he casually replied as his sword finally shimmered out of view—and so did his robe.
During the previous month, he had managed to modify his pendant, making it so that whatever was stored inside could reach his hand or body instantly without having to pull it out manually before using it.
So for his robe, it was stored in his pendant, and he could summon it with just a thought and have it wrap itself around him.
Though his spatial magic had a skill like that—a storage skill—he didn’t use it.
Simply because this pendant held immense value for him. Crafted by his first friend... Randin the dwarf.
Now, he couldn’t wait to head back to his world and see the dwarf and also Elara—the elf.
But that would have to wait for later, though.
Until he was done with what he had to do in this world.
"... Eliminated some greedy folks? What answer would we give those outside the portal?" Alba questioned with furrowed brows.
Grey just shrugged.
"We encountered the boss-class beast. It eliminated them all first before reaching outside. And since we are strong—especially you," he added as he pointed toward Alba,
"...we managed to eliminate it and leave safely. Besides, since the Divine-ranked beast is dead, the portal would close anyway as soon as we left this world."
Alba opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but words failed her and she just sighed.
"You thought about that excuse just now?" she calmly asked.
Grey chuckled.
"Of course not. I had already thought of it even before I killed them. What do you think I was doing while gazing ahead the other time? Aura farming? Hahah~"
The others simply nodded.
"Valid point."
Then Grey turned toward Lance and Ash, who had been carving out the boss-class beast’s core along with the cores of the other beasts Grey had killed during his battle with Fenrir and some strays.
All this while, he had been calmly eviscerating humans like they were nothing more than mere beasts.
"Got them all?" he asked with a raised brow.
The duo nodded while showing a small bag filled with gleaming beast cores—both from their own hunts and the spoils collected so far.
"Gather whatever cores those fools must have had on them too, and then we leave," he ordered, speaking as if he were the leader.
"You do know that I’m the leader of this clan, right?" Alba scoffed, her lips pouting slightly.
"... When the leader isn’t behaving like one, someone has to step up unfortunately," Grey clapped back with a snarky smile.
Alba’s mouth hung open for a moment before she scoffed, turned around, and waved Lance and Ash to do what Grey wanted.
While they were doing that, Grey turned toward Fenrir, who had quickly found a piece of rubble, sat down, and leaned his back against it while heaving roughly from exhaustion.
The man had his eyes closed for a moment as he took in deep breaths, trying to recover his spent energy until—
Clack. Clack. Clack.
The sound of footsteps resounded in his ears, causing him to open his eyes and see Grey approaching.
Soon enough, the mage stood before him.
"You okay?" Grey asked with a mildly concerned look on his face as he stared at Fenrir.
With a nod, the man replied:
"Yeah. I am."
After a brief moment of thought, he added;
"Thanks."
Grey nodded as he stared at the man deeply, his brows furrowed.
"So... you really are a mage from Arondale?"
Fenrir nodded once more.
"What is going on in this world?" Grey suddenly asked, his tone strained as he felt himself being overwhelmed.
He felt small compared to the grand scale of things.
So many unanswered questions, so many confusing details.
Yet he had not a single answer to any of them.
"How are there so many mages in this world of warriors, but I have never seen a warrior in our world? What is happening here?"
Fenrir simply stared at him for a few moments before letting out a soft sigh while shaking his head.
"Seems you know nothing about the things brewing on the surface, eh?"
"Apparently, I’m lost. I came to this world by accident," Grey replied while crossing his arms.
Fenrir stirred, rising from the ground as he dusted off his attire.
"Just know that... aside from me and you, any mage you spot in this world is part of the Otherworlders and is here to infiltrate, spread their numbers, while awaiting the day of destruction."
"..."
The wind whistled between the two mages for a moment as they stared at each other, the silence heavy and unsettling.
"But I encountered a mage a month ago. I killed him in battle. He was part of the Midnight Sun Clan," Grey finally broke the silence, causing Fenrir to raise an eyebrow.
Then he tilted his head strangely while looking at the mage.
"And what did I say just a few moments ago about mages in this world?"
Grey paused for a few moments as realization began dawning on him.
His mouth hung open slightly as he stared at Fenrir, searching for any hint of unseriousness—but there was none.
"Hold on." Grey shook his head as he took a step away from Fenrir, rubbing his temples as a dull throbbing pain began to form.
"... So are you saying that that mage I battled—who was a Captain of the Midnight Sun Clan is part of the Otherworlders too?"
Fenrir stared for a few moments, then closed his eyes briefly before replying:
"I’m saying the whole Midnight Sun Clan is part of the Otherworlders."
"Wh—?"
Grey’s show of shock was abruptly halted by Ash’s voice.
"We are done!"
With that, Fenrir began walking forward, and just before he passed by Grey, he whispered:
"All the things you know not of, you will today. Let’s head out of here first."
With that, the sound of his retreating footsteps echoed behind him, leaving a still, stunned Grey staring into space in pure confusion.
