Magus Supremacy-Chapter 825: Reinforcements (1)
Chapter 825
An ashen portal yawned open in front of Gunther, and out came a tower shield sticking out of the void like a fixed pillar in the mud.
BAM—!
RIIIIIIIING—!
"Uh-oh... you just made a massive mistake punching that shield!"
A resonant, vibrating sound—as if a colossal gong had been struck echoed across the entire battlefield.
The noise was so jarring that even those deeply engrossed in their own lethal duels paused for the slightest second just to trace the origin of the clamor.
While those truly lost in the bloodlust of their fights continued as if nothing had happened, the ringing resonance that rippled outward was simply too immense to be ignored by the rest.
Then, the counter-attack began.
The metallic surface of the shield lit up fiercely with a bright, incandescent glow, illuminating Rowen’s face and forcing the leader to subconsciously take a few retreating steps back.
But it was already too late.
A shockwave, intertwined with a beam so intense and powerful that the sturdy hands holding the shield were shoved back a bit, finally let loose.
Rowen quickly crossed his forearms in front of his face, swirling all his available Ki toward that single point of impact, knowing instinctively that the incoming beam and shockwave would be catastrophic.
BAM—!
BOOOM—!
A clamorous shockwave erupted fiercely as the ground began splintering for meters on end.
With widened eyes, Mada and Gunther stared in disbelief as the previously unmovable Rowen was suddenly lifted off his feet and sent hurling into the distance with incredible speed and raw force.
A thin trail of blood trickled down the leader’s nose as his whole body burst through a thick coliseum wall as if the stone were merely a flimsy piece of parchment.
Gunther and Mada blinked a few times in total shock, refusing to believe the sight that had just unfolded before them.
A combined three-versus-one effort had been unable to move the stalwart Rowen even a meter away; yet now, a single blast was enough to send him flying across the arena?
It didn’t make sense.
No, the more plausible question was: who was the actual owner of that shield?
That was when, stepping out of the swirling portal, a new figure revealed himself.
He stood almost 6ft tall with a bulky, muscular frame that looked like that of a bodybuilder who spent every waking hour in a gym.
In his calloused grip was the tower shield that had just saved the brothers from a certain demise.
Following him through the portal, a female wielding a spear and wearing a shy, timid look also stepped forth before the ashen gateway snapped shut with a loud, final crack.
"Ah shoot... the recoil from that punch has definitely cracked a few bones in my wrist. Just how powerful is that guy’s punch?" the man groaned, shaking his hand out.
"Who—Who are you both?" Mada couldn’t hold the curiosity back anymore, deciding to ask the question burning in his mind the moment the duo appeared.
Casting a quick look behind them, the female smiled shyly at the brothers while awkwardly tucking a stray, loose lock of hair behind her ear.
"We—Uh—we are allies of the Supreme Magus, called upon to help with—uh—with the coup," the female replied softly, quickly tearing her gaze away from the two men.
’Allies?’ Gunther repeated inwardly, and that’s when he finally looked around the greater battlefield.
All across the arena, ashen portals were strategically opening up, and various figures were stepping out to aid in this desperate struggle.
Tracing the source of where the portals were manifesting from, Gunther could see Grey with his eyes now wide open.
His hand was held out toward the field, fingers dancing as he meticulously controlled the portals opening one by one.
He remained seated atop his massive wolf familiar while behind him, a separate clash was going on with intense, unbridled vigor.
’... He is ready to join in?’ Gunther wondered inwardly, his hope surging for a fleeting second, only to see Grey abruptly shut his eyes again to continue exactly what he had been doing from the start.
’I guess not,’ Gunther sighed, realizing the burden was still largely on their shoulders.
At that exact moment, Rowen was seen stomping forward from the wreckage where he had been blasted.
He certainly didn’t have the friendliest of expressions at this point; each heavy step he took seemed to shake the very foundation of the arena, causing the shattered stone to tremble loudly.
His eyes were brimming with a terrifying, unbridled fury.
Never in all his years of living and rising through the ranks did he imagine he would be blasted away so unceremoniously from his starting position.
Orion could possibly achieve such a feat... but only with a considerable amount of struggle.
But laying eyes on the new culprits, his anger skyrocketed instantaneously, especially as he gazed at the defensive weapon held in the hand of the bulky newcomer.
"Wait. Did I just get blasted away by mere members of the Crimson Lotus Clan?!"
Rowen shouted into the air, his voice cracking with rage as he came to a halt four meters away from them.
His powerful frame looked to be shaking—not out of any lingering fear, but from the sheer, molten anger coursing through his veins at the moment.
If it were physically possible, visible steam would be pouring out of his ears and from his head at this point in his boiling temper. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
"... I fucking got blasted away by a mere machinery clan?!"
The man with the shield smirked, undeterred by the outburst, and shifted into a firm combat stance.
"The first and only. Also, I have a name. It’s Brook!"
Rowen clenched his hands so tightly that his knuckles popped like small explosions.
"To hell with your NAME!"
The girl beside Brook leaned in toward her companion with a silent, nervous gulp.
"He seems beyond furious. We—we need to leave, Brook."
Brook glared over at her, his resolve hardening.
"Come back to your senses, Judy. The Supreme Magus summoned us here for a specific reason."
Indeed, just a few minutes ago, Grey had been deep in cultivation when he finally managed to bring his mana reserves back to about half of their normal capacity.
Hence, he had decided to pause briefly so as to gauge the precarious state of his allies, only to see that the battle had taken several tragic turns in his absence.
One of the most dire was Gunther’s struggle, as Instructor Sera had just been taken down and removed from the equation.
’Shoot. Doing this will deplete the mana I just managed to cultivate, but it’s vital. Reinforcements need to be called on immediately.’
With a tired, heavy sigh, the Supreme Magus waved his hand through the air.
A few ashen portals yawned open, and members of the Crimson Lotus Clan—along with Dame, who had been waiting in their base for the signal—instantly stepped out into the chaos.
Each portal was positioned with a specific amount of members, calculated according to who needed the most assistance on the field.
Grey was about to send one toward Rivock’s location, only to see that the direct descendant had already ended his own fight and was resting on the ground.
’Damn. A monster indeed,’ Grey thought with a flicker of respect.
When his work was finally finished, Grey’s mana was once again totally depleted; hence, he proceeded to shut his eyes, dulling his senses and spatial awareness so as to begin the grueling cultivation process once more.
He was choosing to trust the others to take care of the immediate problems... or at least hold on until he could finally step in to end this.
’I hope this is enough. Best of luck once more, guys... just don’t die.’
