Magus Supremacy-Chapter 866: End Things? (2)
The moment Grey finished his utterance, half of the obsidian Ki swords suspended in the sky vanished without a trace, leaving the remaining cluster screaming down at the charging combatants like a lethal rain.
But with his eyes glowing with a blinding, celestial radiance, pillars of lightning shrieked down from the firmament.
They collided with the ten thousand remaining Ki blades, triggering a massive explosion that rocked the entire coliseum to its very foundations.
The massive, ancient structure shuddered crazily under the atmospheric pressure.
Simultaneously, the charging warriors had already reached the hybrid, who glared at them all menacingly, his spiked tail swinging with predatory aggression.
In a flash, all hell broke loose instantaneously.
Tilting his head just in time, Orion avoided Clara's edge before the blade could claim his throat.
Before he could launch a counterattack, Rivock swung his dual Ki swords forward with every ounce of his strength, unleashing a massive Ki crescent that tore toward the hybrid with terrifying velocity.
Swinging his remaining hand down, Orion summoned a massive tidal wave of dark energy that collided with the Ki slashes, further eroding the ground into a jagged abyss.
Rocks exploded in a violent spray all around Orion as he glared through the haze.
Swooosh—!
Screeeeech—!
In perfect unison, Thalos and Kira coordinated their movements, sending their respective elemental strikes flying toward the hybrid at full speed.
Vaulting into the air almost immediately, Orion dodged the initial onslaught.
However, Thalos pivoted around roughly before hurling his heavy greatsword with all the remaining might his stony frame could muster.
The greatsword screamed through the air with blazing, friction-heated speed.
The hybrid was poised to block or maneuver when the spatial distance between him and the flying weapon suddenly shifted, allowing him to barely evade the steel.
'Huh?'
BOOOOM—!
Spinning around in confusion, Orion was met with a massive Ki orb from Rivock that smashed into his face, followed immediately by a concentrated lightning sphere from the phoenix that buried itself into his abdomen.
His reinforced scales cracked massively under the dual impact, and his whole form was hurled toward the earth with deadly momentum.
Before he could collide with the hard ground, his tail surged downward, burrowing itself deep into the stone.
It acted as a biological anchor, breaking the hybrid's fall as he shifted all his weight to the limb, his feet hovering just inches over the ruined floor.
Rivock screamed down from the heavens, his Ki swords raised high above his head, ready to collide with the monster.
With a guttural snarl, Orion exploded forward, launching off his tail as if it were a pressurized spring.
Within a mere second, he was directly before Rivock.
Without wasting a heartbeat, he bashed his head into the direct descendant's forehead.
The impact split the boy's skin, sending blood streaming down his face in crimson waves while the sheer force sent him colliding painfully with the earth.
Spinning around in a blur of motion, Orion's tail whipped forward to clash with Clara—successfully deflecting a lethal sneak attack from the Supreme Magus.
Blinking into their position was Kira.
A beam of white-hot lightning burst from her beak, streaming toward the hybrid with crackling, ozone-heavy intensity.
Orion glanced at the approaching bolt for a fleeting second before locking eyes with Grey.
Without uttering a word, the mage vanished from view, leaving Orion to contend with the lightning beam alone.
The man wasn't fazed at all.
He flooded his remaining claw and his tail with a staggering amount of Ki.
A chaotic, dark aura saturated his limbs, which he proceeded to swing forward, easily cleaving through the lightning beam as if it were mere silk.
But now, positioned directly over him, was a massive pillar of lightning summoned from the churning clouds.
BAM—!
It immediately smashed Orion into the ground with the crushing force of ten runaway trains.
Black blood sprayed from the hybrid's mouth as the scales on his chest were dented inward, blood streaming across the obsidian surface.
Thalos was next to capitalize on the opening.
He lifted his sword above his head, shooting down like a falling meteor toward the crater where the hybrid lay.
Staring at the approaching gargoyle, Orion quickly scrambled to the side, allowing Thalos to smash the ground where he had lain a moment ago into a million pieces.
Twirling around almost instantaneously, Thalos parried a desperate claw strike from Orion before headbutting the warrior with his monolithic, stone-like brow.
The hit caused the hybrid to go tottering backward, his vision swimming for a brief moment.
The moment he regained his composure, he felt a sharp distortion in the air when,
Click—!
Rivock clicked his tongue, a crude, triumphant smirk stretching across his bloodied face.
BOOOOM—!
A localized explosion immediately erupted, blasting a fierce shockwave in every direction.
The force threatened to fling Orion's body into the stands, but he managed to remain rooted, his legs trembling as he stood his ground, the blazing explosion failing to phase his indomitable will.
"If I could endure your father's explosions head-on, what makes you think that yours could do anything to me?"
Orion remained rooted in that same position, smoke and dust clouding his periphery as he aimed to prove his invulnerability. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
"It wasn't meant to hurt you, dumbass," Grey beamed, his sword cutting through the haze and dispelling it immediately.
A lightning slash, condensed with howling wind, surged from Clara.
It smashed into the hybrid's face, shattering the obsidian scales and sending him sliding backward with a fresh trail of blood dripping down his chin.
Before Orion could retaliate, Kira screamed down at him.
Two hundred lightning feathers shot toward the hybrid like high-velocity bullets.
Staring at the incoming projectiles, the hybrid refused to waste time clashing with them; instead, he utilized his overwhelming speed to blitz around the arena, dodging the feathers that easily ripped the stone floor open.
The more he avoided, the more the feathers relentlessly pursued him.
A loud bang from the heavens drew his attention for a fleeting second.
He saw more than a hundred lightning bolts screaming toward his position with deadly accuracy.
Left with no choice, the warrior began weaving between the bolts while desperately parrying the more lethal ones.
He was being kept on his toes by the coordinated onslaught of every remaining ally.
His feet touched a specific patch of the ground, and almost immediately, Rivock snapped his fingers.
Knowing what was coming, Orion vaulted into the air, only for Grey to materialize in that exact trajectory with a thousand wind swords screaming at him.
Frowning, the hybrid began clashing with the ethereal blades at high intensity, shattering them all like brittle glass.
He didn't emerge unscathed, however; his scales were being chipped and cracked from a dozen different angles.
'Damn it! They aren't even giving me a moment to attac—!'
Tilting his head to the side, he spotted Kira's beak positioned dangerously close to his back for a point-blank execution.
Gritting his teeth, Orion sent his Ki swirling through his body with increasing, violent speed.
Simultaneously,
Bang—!
The beam from Kira rocketed toward his spine with lethal velocity.
Kicking the very air beneath his feet, the sound barrier shattered as Orion vaulted upward for a split second before crashing back down with a devastating axe kick aimed at Kira's head—moving faster than she could possibly teleport away.
BANG—!
Another sound-shattering explosion echoed out.
The duo hurtled from the sky and slammed into the earth with a loud boom that sent dust swirling in all directions.
Blue blood poured from Kira's head as she attempted to teleport out of the impact zone, but to no avail.
Orion wasn't about to waste more time with her.
He immediately darted toward Thalos, who had been charging the hybrid's flank.
With his tail stabbing into the ground like a pilaster, Orion launched himself forward, hammering his feet into the gargoyle's chest in a swift double-kick that sent the massive stone warrior hurtling away.
In the same breath, Orion ducked, narrowly avoiding a desperate swing from Rivock.
He hammered his remaining claw into the direct descendant's abdomen, ripping a chunk of flesh from the boy.
Following up with a brutal headbutt, he sent Rivock flying through the air.
Turning around, he spotted Grey preparing to take a step toward him—until the mage suddenly faltered.
"Ack… my body!" Grey bellowed into the air, his voice strained with sudden agony.
Then, just like that, the Supreme Magus collapsed face-first into the ground.
He remained unmoving, not even a muscle twitching.
The ethereal glow around his body retreated instantly, and the darkened storm clouds overhead began to dissipate into a dull gray.
Orion froze in sheer confusion.
He hadn't even touched the mage yet.
"Huh?"
